Hey I was wondering...If I were to take of the upper part of the keyboard,
which left the keycaps+switch and the 2nd layer of material (plastic, metal, idk), now I want to spray the 2nd layer of material in to....red, for example. So do I need to disassemble all the switch off the PCB or I just unscrew the 2nd layer off and spray it. Not quite sure how you guys do it.  hmm.gif

This link lead you to G710+ biopsy:

What 2nd layer?
The plate?

Topre Heaven biggrin.gif Will be available in Malaysia - July. RM 479-499

Nice method by topre to break into the mainstream market.
For the general masses, they might need more education, as Topre's feels like a normal rubber dome, but better.

Pretty hard to tell the difference compare to MX switches.

Ah nevermind, just realize it's Vortex casing.

Anyway, come on peeps! Get this going! Customize your own keyboard! : )

Time to offer customization service tongue.gif

for keycaps let us know some proposal, we will see what they can do.
*
People who go to this length to do keyboard customization probably have more keycaps set than keyboards.

Though the option to order switches, would be a plus.
The more sought after are Milk and Clear Switches.
But Clear switches are hard to find, don't think Vortex has that.

Apparently due to shortage of switches,  my order became a full sized camo without my knowledge doh.gif

If TKL become fullsize, I'd straightaway ask refund already doh.gif

Ok, I'm a bit of a WASD fan especially since they use Costar. Waiting for the V2 to get my own fully customised (because I'm too lazy to do it myself and can afford to pay for someone else to customise it) WASD keyboard.
*
If you are fully customizing your own keyboard, there's no point to get Costar stabs.
Modifying Cherry Stabs would be much much better.

Easier to replace keycaps too. For most people, that doesn't matter.
But since you are deep into this wallethacking keyboarding world, you probably have more keys than keyboards tongue.gif

I think so, I wouldn't know, but the one I wanted he couldn't get it
Don't think there's anyone that knows how to sleeve cables here.. I bought my cable from Paranoid, but I think Pexon's work is cleaner. Depends if your friend wants to wait that long. : D
*
Boss, you sure nobody knows how to sleeve cables tongue.gif

Price of sleeved cable from wallethack is not cheap.
Lagi you have to pay shipping.

Here's a local guy that is good

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/305519
This guy probably knows how to get those nice PS2 plugs as well.
Basically high end S-Video plugs modded to fit PS2 receptors.

Since already gotten my hand on all Cherry switches, thinking to try Topre switch, don't know how it feels like, and Realforce is over my budget, not sure how much is Leopold offering for this.
*
prepare RM700 include shipping can get from GMarket
http://item2.gmarket.co.kr/English/detailv...os_class_kind=T

Otherwise, wait for Topre Heaven.
OR OR....

Prepare RM750 include shipping, get HHKB Pro 2 from Yodobashi JP.
Use Tenso service. Now 100 Yen = RM3, cheap cheap

Impulse brings in DAS keyboard
*
DAS ultimate, RM469 consider okay lah.
Mainland China people says DAS ultimate Blue switch is the best blue switch because the click has the highest pitch.
Otherwise, it's just a same old Costar made keyboard.

... still RM700+, can just go for Realforce if like that since Cyntrix has it around that price, but still, over budget. sad.gif
*
You've never really used a Topre until you type on a HHKB.
It is a lot of difference with a common Realforce.

Unfortunately the same issue with the Ragnarock set as well.
I wonder if thicker font would be better for the contrast.

The width of the wire.
It seems the ideal range is 0.5-1.0mm is it ?
That's what I read from other forum
*
There's more to that than just the solder wire.
Remember to get a good quality solder sucker. Try to buy one from element14, edsyn brand. Also get the Flux pens. Don't buy the no clean ones. You can't clean them off easily. Get the Rosin flux type.

Iron wise, you can try with RM15 first.
If not, get Hakko FX888 from Taobao, pretty cheap.
Need a good set of tweezers, flush cutters.

Go to your local chemical store and get 99% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning.

Pretty much a brief summary. As to the soldering job, you need lots and lots of practice.

Thanks for the advice. I am also finding other things and you listed them all down.
Now just need some time to prepare all these and do practice.

Solder station like the one you mentioned is kinda professional.  sweat.gif
*
Those are not for professional. More for hobbyist.
My workplace has multiple OKI Metcal or Ersa branded stuff. You can go look up how much they are. tongue.gif

Becareful with LEDs, especially if you want to do multicolor.
Some PCB are wiring 2 LEDs in parallel for the whole board, so if you mix, you might get one bright and one dim LED.
No problem with same color, but remember to check the voltage drop and add resistors as necessary. Normally these resistors are within few hundred Ohms range.

Get the FC660M with clears from TB.
Don't think you'll like it though. Clears are horrible.

Clears with modded springs are much much better.

Another bombshell of the day.
POKER 2 can have LED directly soldered to get backlit function. No additional circuitry required.

Oh My God......
I just sent PM to Heavyarm to ask him how much to ship to Penang...
how much you can mod full white LED?
You have to get the LED for me too.....
also can control the LED brightness?
*
LED got.
Don't know how to control brightness.
My LEDs are the same model as the one use in RACE.

Buy from Taobao la easier. You're gonna void the warranty by soldering the LED anyway.
TB also cheaper mah

PS: how many times need to remind you boss. Money things straight PM la.
Ini kan lowyat, ada rules. In lowyat must follow lowyat rules.
You no like you can migrate tongue.gif
