Hi, Im interested to get an ssd for my y410p so that i can use hdd+ssd.

May I know what type of caddy can i get? is there a different, special type of caddy for y410p? or can i just use the normal universal 9.5mm caddy bay?

Also, how can i install win8 on the ssd? do i just download the iso and perform a fresh install? what about the key?

if you don't mind forking out $180, I suggest sent back to lowyat SC and let them fix it for you.

I have my SSD install by them and they load back windows 8 and the one key recovery.

attach is the screen shot of the recovery partition done by them.

I don't have the chance to try out the recovery function yet but I manage to load into the software to perform recover if I want, so there should not be any issue as long the partition is maintain at your disk.

regarding the caddy bay, there are many external parties which work well but I have yet try on my Y500, but I came to know that Lenovo shop in Digital Mall do sell the caddy bay only specifically for Y series notebook for $150 but have order from them and could take months, order mine already from them.

Yes, I've heard about the ultrabay which fits in a hdd. But that is too expensive imo.. You can easily get another 120gb ssd with that price..

if it's only that disc and other discs (not necessarily BF3 only) are fine, it's not the dvd drive problem...

I request that before, they said will void your warranty because of "unauthorized parts".

This is from IBM Service Center at PJ.

ya, but i still do it.
It's better than it overheat and poof a very heavy paper weight.
Next time i will pick other brands :/

A repaste can reduce like 15 ~ 18 Celcius from CPU and GPU why not? (Base on my configuration and proper application)

RealTemp, HWMonitor, CoreTemp.

After repaste, then run some prime95 to check stability, Throttlestop to set the profiles. biggrin.gif
Run Unigine, check GPU Temp.

The lenovo's uses a "grey" paste and a sticky like "thermal pads" i can said the thermal pads they use is a joke. :/

of coz they applied the paste is too much. Plus, they not even remove the plastic :/

I advice for ArtiClean set if you plan to repaste (remove the paste) and air can to blow out dust.

Do this setting, so you will know hows the temperature after repaste. (In Games) http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/...en-display.html

Hi sifus, i'm going to replace HDD with SSD on Y510p ..

1)so, how to enable SSD in BIOS Setup?

2)then, is it possible to backup the current windows 8 os and restore/reinstall it in the SSD? if yes, how to do that?

3)and how about the One Key Recovery function in that new partition? hmm.gif

4)or is there any addition here in order to setup the SSD, let me know. hope can teach me from the beginning blush.gif

thanks all *newbie* icon_question.gif notworthy.gif
