There are fishes in ponds and chlorine in swimming pool. Mosquitoes shouldn't be able to breed in them so easily?
*
There's fishes in the ponds???? I can't recall seeing any the last time.

And for the swimming pool, normal levels of chlorine will now kill mosquito larvae.

QUOTE(Alexis666 @ Jun 4 2014, 12:58 PM)
The mosquito thing is getting out of control. Me and my kid just got discharged from the hospital for dengue.
And btw, the water tank thing behind the house is just plain ridiculous.
It creates more trouble than it solves.
Mine has a leak and hasn't been working since i've got in, and all the developer can say is that they are working on negotiating with the suppliers to change a whole bunch of em, so i need to wait. Yet the leak is causing a pool of water to gather behind my house every time it rains.
And they have the audacity to hold back my renovation deposit cause apparently this foolish water tank needs to be accessible to the workers from the outside (i did renovation behind the house to make a wall), a clause they never told me about.
And yet the damned tank doesn't even work.
This is nonsensical in every sense of the word.
*
Well, if you cannot tahan, do what I did. Change the water tank yourself. I bought a 150l for rm240 which is now sitting on top of my rear extension. Mine house is on 23a if you wanna have a look.

Can you still get back your renovation deposit?

Guidelines say it's ok to change to at least a 150 gallon tank whereby the water is accessible for the maintenance workers to water the plants.

Thanks for the headsup. I'm more worried if they find out and ask me to remove the entire roof!
*
From what I know, the roof MUST NOT exceed your own compound. That what I did for my house. I did everything within the 5ft boundary.

Anybody mind sharing how much it costs you to paint your house? I've asked around for the labour charges and the price the contractors gave me wasn't exactly cheap :S
*
Hi Vampy, I was quoted 5.2k for the entire house. Doors, stairs railing, bsically every surface, interior and exterior.

I assume the price is inclusive of paint right? I was quoted around 2.5k just for labour charges and interior only sad.gif
*
Yes, it is inclusive of paint. For your case, where do you want to paint? Just walls or all inclusive?

Hah! Have you gotten the latest email from Genesis? They are going to put Abate larvacide for both our tanks. Basically this needs to be done on a quarterly basis. Price per session is RM15, but for the first round its free.
What about the second round? Are we going to pay for it? Does this mean we end up paying for the developers mistake in designing this rainwater harvesting tank?

QUOTE(kevinn7 @ Jun 17 2014, 08:14 PM)
This wont solve the problem. The outlet pipe is about 2 inch above the floor of the tank. So you will have about 2 inch of water below at all times.

The tanks are failed products of KEN that puts us at great risks. They know it but yet they push the responsibility to us. This issue with the tanks were due to the complaints I've made with them after my mum got diagnosed with dengue. They checked and found the rain water harvest tanks a breeding place for mosquitoes. MBSA did not confirm on these tanks.

The payment of RM5 per month is principally unjust. I've had enough issues with the management and their failure to ensure that we live in a safe environment. To them their award is more important than the life of the residents.

Fogging won't do a thing. Its just a waste of time and to mask the underlying issue which they are aware about. Even if there are those who pays for the maintenance of it there will be others who won't. Then the issue still persists. It has to be an uniform decision. We have to stick to our decision as a whole; as a community; as neighbors.

To me, their meeting last Sunday was just to dictate how we should live and what to pay. They sent an incompetent person to speak. We need someone who listens not defend. I have sent many emails to them regarding the tanks and also wrote on their facebook page as the final avenue. Will see how this goes.

I am never going to pay that RM5. Not even if it is 50cents. Principals. Its their screw up. I don't care about the MOT I signed - Its the lives of my family and residents concerned. I didn't pay half a million for a house where I need to close my windows and doors at all times; a house where my nephews and nieces cant walk or chill outside.
*
I too agree 100% on this. I am not going to pay that RM5/month as well. The least they could do is to rid off the tanks or add a filter which filters out the mosquito larvae. Something similar to this.
http://www.health.qld.gov.au/ph/documents/ehu/32922.pdf
That being said, the last resort I would pull off is to rid the tank forcefully with or without the consent from the management.

Is it other development with the rain water tank design will face the same issue?
*
From what I've come across, normally rain water harvest tanks will have a filter at the gutter to filter out mosquito larvae.

All depends on the material. Very hard to give you a price. I am doing mine for 12k which is made from 3G cabinets and a granite top.

QUOTE(ncksky @ Jul 2 2014, 12:49 PM)
Call to management office to complain about a small house defect on Saturday and hope they send someone to check on it but was told to send an email to lodge the report. So I did it immediately and until today there is no reply from the management office. On the other hand, they are free to send reminder email about the maintenance fees statement asking for payment.

From what I experienced after staying there for one month, I am truly disappointed with the management. Perhaps they are following SOP but this is really not the way of doing it.

Feel so sad as this is really a beautiful residential area. Why we have to endure all the ridiculous rules with the money we paid for the house? Even have to shut all the doors and windows tight because of the failure in their design?

And now I even have to bear the risk of not getting my renovation deposit back simply because my air cond compressor is too big and couldn't fit into the designated area. I really couldn't understand their "rules and regulations" and is it really legal to hold our money like that since MBSA already approve the renovation?
*
How big is your AC? I have not installed mine yet but my aircon installer said that he can fit a 2.5HP in there. Just cut the aluminium lourves to fir your AC compressor in.

Yes shut the doors and windows because of mosquitoes.
Mine is just 2HP but I have ask a few shi fu and they said the air cond will not function well if we fit it in the area behind master bedroom as it is very small and there is no space for the hot air to escape. End up your air cond might get broken very soon.
*
Well, make sure that the aircon fan is facing outside, In that case, the hot air blown out from the compressor is not blocked.

1. Wall light on stairwell
2. The plaster ceiling side opening
3. ????

Can't seem to find where the other switch goes.

I think one is for the plaster ceiling at the dining area if i am not mistaken. But then again, mine is an end lot, so i have extra for the side of the house as well.
*
Hmmm... Well yeah, I can't seem to find what the third ones does. I have installed all my lights and it seems that 1 of the three switches does absolutely nothing.

Any intermediate owners that knows?
