I have a pentium D 830 and the heat is crazy. Worse thing is that I use the PC as media centre in the living room, so stock fan was very noisy.
Initially I went for Thermaltake Golden Orb II (RM130): Noise: Very quiet Fan Speed: 1800RPM Cooling result: Idle: 45C, Load (both core) : above 75C (Failed) Therefore I think the Orbs not suitable for dual-core. Expensive lesson there... Second Try: Zalman CNPS9500 LED (RM240) Noise: Quiet (Can adjust) Fan Speed: 1300 - 2600RPM (I use 2600 when gaming, 1300 otherwise) Coolin Result: (with AIR CON) Idle: 36C Load (both cores) 62C (no AC) Idle: 43C Load (both cores) 70C Finally this solution gave me "fairly" adequate cooling while mantain low noise. |

QUOTE(emmeir @ Jun 14 2006, 12:13 PM) compared to the zalman CNPS 9500, it does not perform as good.so i wud say the zalman is a better choice. dude seriously, u have the money, go for a watercooling setup. its worth every cent u put into it. |

Would a Thermalright XP-120 with the LGA775 RM bracket to make it compatible with Pentium D CPUs be good enough? I'm just giving a guess since this is a good cooler.

QUOTE(Devilc0de @ Jun 17 2006, 03:30 PM) Ya the 930 thermal rating 95W, 830 is 130W. I think I bought a crap CPU lah... thats why the load on both core is so hot... anyways I hear that Intel will slash prices next month some more, maybe ditch the 830 and get myself a 930 which would cost maybe RM500? heheh |
