So good. Everyone's having fun with their laptop. I have to wait till Thursday to get mine. Damn sad. No stock on GPU initially, then after that was resolved, free backpack no stock. Damn bad luck.

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 10 2013, 10:12 PM) Ah.. Its just 48 hours away from first alien contact It might be the longest 48 hours LOL!I think they can send you the laptop first then the backpack no? Nope. Their side says need to send the laptop with the backpack together. They say it is protocol. As compensation, they gave me a tactx mouse. I'll be selling it when it arrives and along with some other peripherals. |

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 10 2013, 11:24 PM) uh? previously one of my friends got his backpack first then the laptop. he was told that the items were from different parts of the world so they were delivered separately. Which backpack? If u r referring to the alienware backpack, then yes. That backpack arrived first. The backpack I'm talking about is the free one which is included with the laptop, the Targus one.i'm not sure it's from dell or retailers. |

QUOTE(mansooriqbal @ Sep 11 2013, 12:46 AM) By default when u purchase any Alienware laptop, u'll get the targus backpack for free. The Alienware backpack is purchased separately. To answer your question, I'll be getting both Targus and Vindicator backpack. Targus is free, the Vindicator is my own money. |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Sep 11 2013, 11:05 AM) in before that, any purchase of Alienware 17 models comes with free Vindicator backpack. Well, at the time that I ordered mine, which is before the fuel increase, it is already like that. I haven't seen any conditions stating that AW 17 comes with a free Vindicator backpack. When did this happen actually? maybe Dell is subjected to the 20 cents fuel increase. |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Sep 11 2013, 12:33 PM) cant recall when but i remember when i got one of their retailer's flyers, they state that any AW 17 purchase will free a vindicator backpack. Ic ic... Then I don't feel so bad now. Promo is promo then. This one is their basic package. At least I'll have a spare in case the other one breaks down. I hope the Vindicator backpack can last for a long time. perhaps due to that they are running a fair that time, as im working at low yat in the time being. |

QUOTE(Liuteva @ Sep 11 2013, 09:11 PM) Calling Dell is normally for negotiation only. Can get max 10% discount and also maybe some freebies. Of course if purchase from website, u r paying the price that u customize unless u web chat with agent. I prefer calling Dell since I like instant response. |

Finally, my AW 17 is ready to rock and roll!!! Didn't even sleep just to prep it ready for use. Running OS on mSATA + UEFI secure boot. Pain in the ass to setup everything but it's totally worth it!!!

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 15 2013, 07:44 PM) it's the new 17.. all sata ports are now at sata 3 speeds (even if odd ports are of sata 3) I know. That's why I opted for Intel's 525 msata ssd's are slower than 2.5" ssd's because of the compact size (limited space to put more good stuff on it to make it run as fast) still, they are much faster than hdd of course |

QUOTE(gomok @ Sep 22 2013, 10:11 PM) Hi guys, For factory recovery image, most likely is 3 DVDs. Only use normal DVDs and not Dual Layers. If thumbdrive, 16GB is the minimum and must be USB 2.0 and it also depends on brands. I can't help u with which brand works. I definitely know Kingston is ruled out since I bought one and the software doesn't detect it. Maybe it is bcos of USB 3.0.My Alienware 14 is expected to arrive tomorrow from Dell Malaysia (i7, GTX 765m 2GB). What should I do when first receiving the system? Should I make a recovery DVD? How many DVDs do I need to prepare? Or can I use a thumb drive? And do I need to download any extra drivers? Any settings I should configure before playing any games? Sorry for the noob questions. No extra drivers are required. If you want, you can update the NVIDIA drivers to the latest one. If you don't like the new GeForce Experience software, just exclude it during the update and use back the old NVIDIA update instead. |

QUOTE(gomok @ Oct 2 2013, 08:10 PM) Another issue I encounter after formatting. I think it's regarding the MSATA thingy, but I'm not sure. Anybody can help me? What problem are u having right now? Unable to enable RST? If that's the case, go into your BIOS and check whether it is on RAID or not. It must be on RAID in order to use RST.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |
