Hi guys! I'm planning to get a Xbox 360 next month together with Dell E228WFP 22" LCD monitor. The 2407 is way beyond my budget... is this monitor good enough for my future Xbox 360? The price is sweet for a 22" widescreen LCD. Any other good suggestions besides dell? smile.gif

Actually was planning to play using my GF's Sony Bravia 46" LCD TV but there is no internet connection over there and besides, it is not my house... cant stay there whole day and play. cry.gif

Yo guys... I finally placed my order on Dell E228WFP 22". With the existing 3 years warranty, I paid extra RM38 for another year. Guess no one here is using this for Xbox 360 or PS3, so I'm "sacrificing" myself as guinea to test it out first. Actually I have heard some pretty good things about this monitor from HK users and the price is right for me. Guess it is no harm buy it for future use (I'm getting Xbox 360 soon and no I don't have a PC and currently using laptop)... anyway, should I buy third party VGA cable or the official one from MS for Xbox? Is there any difference in the visual quality? Thanks!

Thanks! Guess I'll be getting the official one since it comes together with a connector which lets you connect to PC speakers. Saves me the trouble to look for one here in Kuching.

Just receive my Dell 22" LCD and I'm using it post this message. Everything look so clear and nice and damn... 22" already seem very huge for a monitor! I've been using 15" all the while.

No dead/stuck pixel so far and there is some slight backlight leaking problem, but I guess I can live with it. Will probably get my Xbox 360 in these two weeks, will let u guys know how's the quality....

The backlight leaking may be due to the brightness setting is set too high, may be you can try lowering it down a bit?
*
Yup, after I reduced the brightness it does reduce a bit but still noticeable. Guess I cant be complaining too much since it is only using TN panel. sweat.gif

so ur using the E228WFP i suppose..
i know this monitor has 2 input.. DVi and analog
i am wondering does that mean u can switch between both inputs?
eg. DVI connected to PC, Analog connected to another source at the same time..
*
Yes, there is a button letting u switch between digital and analog input.

hezda.. does ur new dell monitor support ps3?
i mean HDMI to DVI connector?

and can someone tell me how much is HDMI to DVI connector going to cost me?
*
Yes, the Dell 22" does support PS3 because its DVI port is HDCP (am I right here?) compliant. But hear my advice, if u can afford just get the 24" version. A little bit regret here for buying the 22", the reso it supports is alang alang IMO... can say it is an impulse purchase though... blush.gif

Have you managed to connect your Xbox 360 to your new monitor yet? At what resolution did you use in the settings? Did you get wide screen display on the monitor for the Xbox?

I am really interested in getting this monitor but I am concerned if it is compatible with Xbox.  notworthy.gif

Appreciate your reply! Thanks!

Just got my VGA cable from PA this afternoon... first of all, I'm using the Ori VGA cable, it comes with a converter which let u connect to PC speakers and a gender converter. Quality wise for this monitor... kinda average only. blink.gif I've been using my old 29" Toshiba CRT for the past few days playing my Xbox 360 and I can tell you the color is 3x better than the LCD... cry.gif I'm not sure whether is the setting problem or not but the colors just don't look as nice. Another problem is this monitor does indeed stretches the screeen a little bit. It's not really serious though... So, if your budget allows I would just have to say get the 24" version. If not the 22" is good enough if u r not too picky. It's neither excellent nor bad but accepatble. smile.gif BTW, it is good for a PC monitor.

I don't think anyone's getting confused here. smile.gif What ever makes you happy dude.

The monitor should work fine with the 360. Not sure about the quality though, will go and have a look later tonight.

If you're using the VGA cable, the highest resolution you can go for is 1366 x 768 (720p)
*
Ah yes, I'm suing 1366 x 768. The best so far.

the dell E series (stands for economy? tongue.gif ) LCD don't have 1:1 pixel mapping (am i saying this right?). the panel is 16:10, the 1360x768 resolution that u are using is 16:9, so the LCD stretch it to fit. try using 1280x768 (16:10) or 1280x1024 Wide. i was playing on my E207WFP previously and 1280x1024 wide looked best. somehow the monitor was able to scale this resolution properly without stretching it.

on my E207WFP=
1280x768 = full screen, not streched. but kinda blurry because of scaling
1280x1024 wide = minor black bars on top and bottom but not stretched.. not native resolution but best looking 360 resolution i can get on this monitor
*
I have tried that. Somehow it plays GoW in letterbox format and stretches tha whole thing side way. cry.gif So guys, just get the ultra sharp series, no money? SAVE FOR IT! rolleyes.gif

Call them up and ask for discount! I bought mine a month ago for RM1239 and then one week later it dropped to RM999. I called them up and they credited me the difference! Give it a shot!  flex.gif

Get dell, though the quality may not be as good but consider yourself getting a good deal because the monitor is just only RM989... but IF you can afford and got extra cash to spend, I would say get the 24". I never seen one in action though but my friend who has seen both the 22" and 24", he told me that the color on the 24" is so much better than the 22". If I didn't get my 22" ealier, I probably got the 24" during the pc fair deal.

So, just my 20 cents... ultimately the 24" is much better for gaming.
