Does HD make that much difference? I currently do all my gaming on a 32" non-HD TV. Planning to buy a 360 over the weekend, I do kind of have extra budget available for maybe one of the 20" Dells.

Thing is though I'm not a big computer gaming fan, so the Dell would be used only as a display for the 360, and be wasted as a PC monitor. Within a budget of ~1.5k, would you guys recommend I go for the 20" Dell anyway? Or save up for the 24" one? I'm sure the picture quality would be better, but wouldn't the gaming experience be better with a 50% larger (but non HD) screen?

OK another question. Of all the LCDs on this Dell page, which one is the best value for money product? Obviously the 2407WFP is the best, but it's also almost twice as expensive as the 2007 WFP. Which one then gives the most "bang for the buck?"

OK ... I need some expert advice ... after getting my 360 I realize it's not reaching it's full potential without HD.

Now, I've narrowed it down basically to the Dell 2007 WFP, mostly because the 24-incher is a little out of my budget. However, the 2007WFP has no component inputs, so how will I connect the 360 to the LCD? The description says:

... with Digital DVI-D (HDCP) ...

I'm assuming I'll need a seperately-purchased cable for this?

Which is better, 360 --> VGA or 360 --> Component?

Hmm you know, you've got a point. I wanted Dell at first cos the 2407WFP has component inputs. But if I've decided it's out of budget, and the lower monitors have no component, then there's no real compelling reason to buy Dell, is there?

Hmmm ... time to take a visit to Lowyat (the mall, not the forum).

Hmm, this is a bit off topic, but any recommendations for a budget 4.1 or 5.1 speaker system? Preferably for Computer, but also usable for 360.

Hey guys, I just got my Dell 2007FPW delivered today.

Native res is 1600x1050, so what's the best resolution to choose from? I recall there's 12**x768 and 13**x768, which one is better?

Also, I haven't taken a pic yet but the quality of the picture is ... pretty bad. It's like, not sharp, the text is a bit blurry and there's "ghosting." I'll take a pic later on to show, but any ideas why? Using 3rd party VGA cable (but I hear that on small LCDs should be no difference from ori VGA cable).

[edit] Here's what I mean. The picture quality is mostly crap cos my camera phone sucks, but you can clearly see the "blurring" in between the text.

Also, there's a constant, erm, wavy field moving downwards of blur ... most noticeable during loading screens when all black.

Well I've figured out part of the problem. The "drop shadow" effect is still there, but it's only really noticeable on text, so no big deal.

However the "interference" pattern is due to my amp. For some reason the moment I plug the red/white audio into my amp, the interference pattern comes in (even though the amp is off). No idea why this is, I wonder if using the ori vga cable would make any difference.

How much does it cost, anyway?

I don't understand ... 1280x1024 is not a widescreen reso ... so you'd have quite a bit of stretching going on ...

nah, try it out before posting your comment...

You're right, it's good.

Actually I do find that with *x768 and *x720 there is some image tearing (like VGA not synced properly), but with 1280x1024 there's none.

BTW those of you with 2007's, what settings do you use? Under image modes got Desktop/Multimedia/Gaming ... I use Desktop for GOW cos seems like the contrast is better .... with Gaming mode there's like no black, gray only.

Well, a lot of the main LCD companies being investigated for price fixing now, aren't they? If they get a guilty verdict I'm sure prices will drop.

Other than that ... prices are always dropping man, if you want to wait you'll never get an LCD.

You can buy adaptor that is the red and white 2 RCA plug --> mini stereo plug. Don't know what it's called though, but a lot of audio shop will sell it.

Or you could just splurge on a 32" LCD TV. Yes I know it's not within your budget, but nowadays got 3 years 0% interest installment ... that's like paying rm100/month only ... no problem mah!

Haha just kidding, don't get into the debt/installment trap.

EDIT: ANOTHER QUESTION
Anyone own this lcd DellTM 2007WFP 20?
can i like switch between VGA and DVI port? ..coz this lcd will be for my xbox360 and PC..
can i press button to switch which port i wan use..so i can use both??
*
I have this monitor and yes, you can switch between 4 inputs (VGA, S-Video, DVI, Composite). You can also Picture-in-Picture so you can surf net while keeping an eye on your XBL and see if anyone invites you to play anything.

What you cannot do, is run x1080, because the native res is 1600x1050 (apparently at 20" you won't know the difference anyway *shrug*)
