Just back from test drive of 308 turbo
Now with discount of RM5k and free mini ipad

Considering Ford Focus and Pug 308.
Interior, wise, I would prefer focus.
Exterior wise, I would also prefer focus laugh.gif
Performance, 308 is better. But, I don't like the pulling feeling of 308 when letting go of the accelerator. I don't feel this in the focus.
Price factor: 308 is cheaper than focus.

Still deciding to buy 308 or focus...

The speed was like below 50 km/h
So, there is car infront, i let go my right foot, then can feel the engine pull back.. something it downshift.. make the car not smooth

I like the power of the engine. Hu hu.. very nice..
But interior wise, focus is better tongue.gif
Price wise, peugeot is cheaper too tongue.gif

The pulling you said is due to downshift of gears. The engine now slows car down. This is a safety effect. You will feel this more on the Pug than Focus cos the Pug engine is more powerful.

Hi guys, I'm a proud owner of a Peugeot 308 VTI (2009). I was wondering if anyone could help direct me to a shop that sells and maybe specializes on Peugeot parts. Looking for a body kit and some tuning parts for my car. Thanks~

really love this car sooooo much. love the exterior and interior. interior is simple compared to focus.

anyway, my friend's 308T got irritating sound came from passenger left side when driving especially on the uneven road. sound like 'tik-tik-tik'. sent to SC 2 time, but the problm still cannot be solved. it is normal for 308T? pity her coz one of the reason she change car is because of her previous Honda City got similar problem. sent to Honda SC more than 6 time, but the problem still unresolved.

wanna book from me ? confirm u'll get better offer than any other branches, which i just got complaint by HQ said i made the market harsh as i'm giving out lots more discount than branches.... vmad.gif brows.gif mad.gif

maintenance if you comparing with those japs, its just a little bit more, probably not more than RM100 different. If you compare with conti, puegeot is the cheapest in term of service.

standard spec and griffe is the same smile.gif so, for FC is quite normal, i mean wont suck like no tomorrow, is acceptable like normal car. somewhat example like rm80 for 500km, around this assumption.

nop..double check and i notice the sound came from the roof at left passenger seat. if i push bit hard the roof (i mean from inside the car), the sound will disappear. so i suspect it maybe from the curtain.

now, my friend try to ignore the irritating sound by listening radio kuat2... just a workaround, and again what do you expect when you pay 120K only for a car? sweat.gif

It is very difficult to find peugeot additional accessories compared to other car. I was thinking to install DRL, extra body-kits and 2DIN audio for my 308T- 2010. Couldnt find.

Bro barkutt3h also. Any idea of launch date?

This new model seems to a winner for Peugeot, selling very well in Europe. I'm a little skeptical on very high reliance on electronics. Will our SC be able to handle issues??? Are local service personal adequately trained???

I am still keen on this car,but only if I can find independent specialist!

Yes this the exact car. Europe got various engine options. We will get the proven and reliable 163THP. I would like the 1.6 turbo diesel, don't think we'll see this in Malaysia, too pricey.

Nasa achieved positive test results on Hybrid turbo diesels on Malaysian diesel fuel. Nasa is planning to offer this engine options on Pugs, not sure if 308 is on the list.

If they bring in 2.0Hdi that will be good. Full spec with pricing below Altis/civic/mazda 2.0cc, then it can definitely boost their sales.

Ooooou that one is sweeeet la bro! BlueHDi engine putting out 370nm. Sadly I don't think we'll see this in Malaysia. It will definitely cost more than Altis/Civic. Maybe around $160K

That's right, 163hp. The T indicates it's turbo engine. All 1.6 turbo petrol engines on Pug/Citroen sedans now are this 163THP. All the bugs on Prince engine has been fix and this engine is proving very reliable.

Ohhh i see.... coz quite sometimes ady i didn't follow Peugeot updates... last that i keep on updating my head database was 156Thp on 308 and 508... Phewwww.... my memory outdated ady laugh.gif

Now when pug upgrade the power to 163thp sure very interesting thumbup.gif anyway.... back to model 408, 5008 etc that power to 163thp... if new 308 still using this same engine that power 163thp, why they didn't upgrade the engine as well? 163thp seem outdated i think hmm.gif

I may be wrong, but I think the 308GT did not sell well. So I doubt if Nasa will go that road. Even the 1.6 turbo petrol 308 will sell at 130K. Perhaps Nasa will see how well this car sells here, then decide is the BlueHDi is worth bringing here!

I too very keen on the BlueHDi, but 160K, will have to think twice. Well out of my budget! We'll most likely see hybrid turbo diesel engines. I believe tax intensives make this engine an attractive option.

Europe has a few engine options for the new 308. My favorite is the Blue HDi, 2 liter turbo diesel,150hp 370nm. Unfortunately we'll not see this here in Malaysia. Due to tax, this will be too pricey for the average Malaysian. We are stuck with 163THP!

Anyway this prince carries 8 mods which has sorted out all the previous bugs. This engine with the 6spd Aisin GB has become a very reliable combo.

If your is 140THP engine, then no value la. If 156THP, 6spd gb, still can sell. Most problems on original Prince has been solved. Price may be low,my advice still sell.

The new 308 will come with 163THP. All bugs on Prince has been solved and this engine has proved reliable. Ask any 408t owner,1st Pug to be fitted with 163THP,no engine complaints. Mine coming up to 3 years, still healthy roar from my Lion! Same response from owners at 408 club.

Actually mine is 156THP (oledi 60K KM)

Changed Leaking Head gasket
Broken Turbo Intake
Broken Water Intake
Changed Aircon Coil and Sensor Box
Broken Ignition Coil
High FC (Previous About 8.6km/l...now 6.2km/l)
Noisy Rear Hatch/Boot
Change battery 4 times oledi....now using top range Bosch S5
Underpowered now (probably Carbon built up)
etc
etc

Pretty norm I must say, based on the feedbacks by other 308 owners

same here, bro. I've been surveying through car ad sites for peugeot 308...
when i saw the prices for these used car out there, i have mixed feelings about it.

happy bcoz the price is low, but worried bcoz the price is too low to be true... biggrin.gif

Y2009/2010: RM 35-45k
Y2011: RM 40-50k
Y2012: RM 50k++

5/6 years old car costs less than 50% of its value - something's not right. sad.gif

Yes that's about the value for 308s. The reason is the car has a lot of electronics, and after 5 years some of the electronics need to be changed. Btw all modern cars are filled with electronics. 5 years +/-, is the general life span, no matter which brand, including Merc!

If you like the car, go for it.Go for the 6sp gb. These have re tuned engine with less issues. DO NOT take it to Peugeot SC to fix anything! DO NOT buy any spare parts from Naza/Nassim ( Authorised Peugeot Dealers ). People often do this and come away paying hefty bills and then claim Peugeot maintenance is high. That is the main reason the 2nd hand value of Peugeot is low.

1. Source around for Peugeot independent workshops. There are a few now in the Klang Valley.
2. Buy spares from spare part shops. There are a few in the Klang Valley.

Last of all, you must understand, this is Peugeot, which means she'll need special attention, and she'll run fine. If you are not prepared for this, then I suggest get a Perodua and it will be a work horse. But what a dull life it will be!

Cost a bomb at Naza. Less than RM2K if you buy online, including postage. Btw, any car, turbo will cost a bomb at authorized dealers.

Hello 308 owners,
I was advised to get the new facelift 6 speed version of 308,
as the other version have problems with the timing chain.
Is this correct?

I love this car so much. But I'm kinda scared with the problem.

Hi guys, wish to share some experience on this car, hope this will benefit anyone who wish to buy 2nd hand 308thp (not 2015 model) or for current owner, or for those who wish to buy the new 2015 model.

I am driving a 2011 308thp 6 speed. From the first month after getting the car until now... I have met with plenty of problems. Mainly are with the service center.. and how they handle the problems. Most of the time are really frustrating. So make sure you are a very very patient person if you intent to buy this car. Before I bought this car, I have researched well enough, this is not a car that is easy to maintain... and there are few issue with those older model. But I still continue to buy the car because how of how deeply I am poisoned at that time. I thought with free service and 3 years warranty, I do not need to worry much. I was wrong.

Through out the last 3 years, I have been sending my car to SC endlessly, sometime a few days, sometime few weeks, there are other time, for a full whole month. See, the real main problem is that, the official SC handle these cases badly... timing wise. And in terms of spare parts, they never try to fix the "small" thing.. but instead... they change every "BiG" parts. Maybe they must stick to their procedure.. But each repair, is costing a few k to 10k. It is scary if the car is not cover by the warranty.

A good example is this.. I have my side mirror broken by a passing motorbike. I send it to sc to quote the repair...Rm 1200. cause they need to order the whole side mirror. I went to a shoplot car accessories shop. They just open up the side mirror.. find the loose screw, and screw it back in.. done. work like new. total damage Rm 10. I gave him rm 30 instead. The cost is x120 times more expensive if I stupidly fix it in SC.

The final few months before my 3 years warranty over, I have tried to fix a few major things in SC.... engine error message, engine decarbonise, engine knocking, turbo leaking etc... end of the days, none of these are really sorted out. And a month after my warranty finally expire, all these problems are coming back. And since I do not know any thirdparty workshop, I continue to go back to the authorised sc. Have my car serviced, and pay over a thousand ringgit. They changed my front breakpad as well, says they are wearing off. And with engine knocking, they said I need to send in for decarbonise... (AGAIN????) I had just Decarbonise my car a month ago! And I have left my car there for a week! But they said in their system, there is no record of my car doing the decarbonise.. WTF is going on... mad.gif ? So I decided not to proceed with what they advice me to do. It is an endless game if I continue playing with them.

From that day onward, I never return to any authorised sc. I went to a workshop outside, recommended by a friend. It took the mechanic a whole week to identify all of my car problems. I have changed a few sensor, I have change a few parts. Turbo leaking... instead of changing the whole turbo (Sc will sure want me to change the whole turbo system for rm 4-5k), he only change the plastic tube that caused the leaking, saving me a few thousand more. It was a nervous time.... but in the end, all of the problems are fixed... cost me rm 3k in total.

Been driving the car for 4 months now and everything seems positive. So far happy with it. But a month ago I start to realise screeching sound coming from my front break. Remember earlier I said the SC changed my front breakpad, it costed me rm 300+? That is back in Feb 2015. Early this month, I brought my car to tyre shop do alignment and balancing, and ask them to check my break. And to my surprise, my breakpad has totally wore out!!! The new front breakpads are fully wore out in just 3 months! The tire workshop told me, that is because my break rotor are already damaged and rough, so the breakpad will be quickly wear off. I have burned my rm 300+ breakpad in just 3 months. The peugeot authorised SC never inform or check the rotor for me, causing me to spend on unnecessary replacement.

Anyway, I have to spend another rm500 to replace my front rotor, and another rm 280 to replace the new breakpad. Since I am no longer need to stuck with Authorised Sc, and my car no longer in warranty, I can choose not to use back the original parts. I go for Brembo and is even much cheaper than the original. And this is when I get really surprised! After changing the thirdparty rotor and breakpad.... my car drive so much better! I mean seriously even better than when I first got the car. It breaks much more gradually, and there are less breakdust in my rims. The original breakpad+rotor, has this "on/off" feel... and if I am to break suddenly, it will feel like I am throwing myself and my passenger out from the car. I have to be very careful when following behind a car on a highway... and is extremely exhausting experience both driving and sitting in this car. To make sure passenger wont feel "car sick" I have to drive extremely careful and break with extreme precision to avoid the "thrown out of car" feeling....and to make sure there is enough distance from the car in front of me.

Now all this has changed! This car drives like a complete new car. I feel like a complete idiot for not realising this, over the last 3 years and I should have change to third party breakpad once I got my car. It will be a much better driving experience from the beginning. I am now enjoying this car a lot more than before. Such a big difference.

When I am about to give up on this car, I end up starting to love this car even more. The lesson I learn so far, is that never trust the authorised SC. don't ever think they are the best... same thing goes with original parts. In fact, they are the one causing this car to have such a negative user experience in Malaysia. I used to be angry when I found out they offer 5 years warranty/services a few months after i bought this car. Now I feel blessed cause I am able to break free earlier from their "control", otherwise I am sure to be stuck miserably with them for another 2 more years.

I really hope this car can continue serve me without any major problems. Since the car value is extremely bad, I am not going to sell the car anytime soon. So I can only hope my love for this car will continue to grow from now on. It drives so well that I am starting to think of improve my car performance, do new coating and pamper it a lot more than I used to thumbup.gif . Good luck myself.

Sorry for the long post. I think I am writing this for my own record... and at the same time, hope the post can benefit any potential 308 buyer... and what to expect from this otherwise very good car. Thanks.

Would like to seek some experience and information from current 308 (new model) owners. How is the performance of the car in terms of smoothness in acceleration and quietness. And also stability in high speed cruising.

Several questions:-

1) Has anybody driven the car exceeding 200km/h? In the brochure it was stated that the top speed is limited at 211km/h by the ECU.

2) Is there and blind spot warning light in the 308?

3) The Dynamic Cruise Control which adapts to the speed of the vehicle that is in front. What is the workable range of speed of this feature?

4) How is the NVH of the car? Is it quiet enough?

5) Any issues, squeaking or rattling noises in the car etc.

Also, I note that the max power at 152PS is on the low side for this 1.6-Turbo engine.

Any idea if the upcoming 408 (maybe next year in 2016) will have the same engine, transmission, features and the same interior and leather seats etc. as the current 308?

Puchong SC for the first 2-3 services (completely fucked up! don't bother! they should close down seriously), then glenmarie (overly crowded...too slow) , then finally Geotauto at near jalan 222. The best SC... much better than the one in puchong.. customer service was ok.. but experience wise is still lacking..

Several questions:-

1) Has anybody driven the car exceeding 200km/h? Would like to know the top speed you have achieved with the car and the top-end acceleration performance of the car, whether acceleration from say 130 km/h to 200 km/h is linear and effortless rather than struggling. In the brochure it was stated that the top speed is limited at 211km/h by the ECU and the max power is 152PS which is on the low side for this 1.6-Turbo engine.

6) Any issues with the touch-sreen on the centre console? What are the major functions that are accessible or controllable by this touch-screen? I note that there isn't any air-conditioning controls on the centre console. Is the air-conditioning system controlled via the touch-screen (only)?

Any idea if the upcoming 408 (maybe next year in 2016) will have the same engine, transmission, features and the same interior and leather seats etc. as the current 308?

From what I've researched the facelift 408 will come with EP6FDTM, 165hp/240nm,15hp higher than the facelift308.These are Euro 6 engines with better fc and emission standards. But of course with our dirty fuel we may not get full benefits of this engine.

GB is updated, still 6spd. Aisin GB is silky smooth but looses on performance to a dual clutch. The consolation is high reliability. Interior will have the 308touch screen.

My Preface-lift 408t is 163hp. I've take it up to 200kph. The speed rise is leaner and car is stable. I suppose the facelift 308 will also perform the same. Although hp may a bit less than mine but the car is 140kgs lighter.

If you are into sporty driving than get the 308gti. 208hp/300+nm

308 GTI is not my cup of tea. The new 408 is interesting and exciting. Will consider this alongside the new Ford Focus although I am leaning more toward the latter.

had it almost a year, great ride. not the best fc...full tank half city/half highway abt 500-550km.

Had an issue with the fan relay and it got replaced with warranty in two days.

The car both models already come with reverse camera. Not sure abt navigation whether its a unit they give you or its programmed in the touchscreen

What is difference?
Previous Prince engines suffered heavily on premature carbon build up & other issues. Ep6cdtm was introduced with 8 modifications, addressing all reliability issues. Ep6fdtm has further refinements to improve fc & emissions standards.

Hi all sifus, can I ask some opinion from you guys? My Peugeot 308 THP battery indicator light is on whenever I start the car. Can I know anyone encountered this issue before?

Does it disappear when the car is started? If yes then there shouldn't be an issue

If there was an issue it would pop up "Battery Charge or Electrical Supply faulty"

Hi Plan to get 308 thp 2016. New car. Is it worth it? Done my research on the maintenance part which is very annoying. Is there anymore reasons to not go for this car? Many thanks

As both of you are interested in this car let me give my views. I own a 408thp, which has similar engine. This my 6th year & enjoyed the car very much. Although a sedan, it has exceptional handling & good power. 308 being a hatchback should be even more fun to drive!

However, no car is perfect. There will always be some issue. Present version of Prince engines are reliable, unlike the older ones which were problematic. I have had small issues and all were successfully fixed by SC warranty. SC are now more familiar with Pugs & do a reasonable job. There are now many Peugeot workshops in Kling Valley for after warranty. Spare parts are reasonable from spare part shops. However you must be prepared for slightly higher maintenance cost on long run due to high performance engine. This is the same on all contis.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'm not going for Peugeot anymore as one of the sales agent gave me wrong info. He claimed 308 thp 2016 showroom minus 30k. But when I called again to double confirm he said the minus 30k was for 508. Literally pissed me off as sales agent cannot differentiate between a '3' and a '5'.

Valve cover cost only $600 from Peugeot spare part shop. Labour charges are about $100. But you can just buy the 0 rings & gasket for around $250.

The leak is due to 0 rings getting brittle over time. If these 0 rings are not fitted properly, it will leak.

You are welcome. Actually the price is already discounted by 38k. It was 135k upon introduction last year, now it is 97k. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a promo on 2016 unsold models soon. You should look out for this & get one!

IMO, 97k is already a good price. I guarantee there is no car at this price to match it's performance & handling!

Hi,all
I am very interested on 308 Griffe 2012.
Since I test drive it, I am very amazed by the Performance.
Is there any major issue for the car? Because I am interested to get the 2nd hand one.

Thanks

Early 308s has a number of issues, thats why they cheap.

If you are keen on 308 get the face lift model (2015). Most engine issues sortted out & reliable 6spd gb! Spares are reasonable & a number of good Pug workshops in Klang Valley.

Well in my opinion, it depends.

If you go with turbo version, indeed I heard a lot of issues with it and requires a lot of maintenance. I own VTi version, going strong for 9 years, never had a breakdown (engine overheat once due to coolant reservoir cap was not tighten properly). However, definitely will struggles when going uphill with 4 speed transmission and VTi engine. I'd recommend 6 speed version.

Yes that true. My post was for THP engines! VTi were pretty good apart from a few GB issues!

Hello, anyone here?

I’m looking for a second hand Peugeot 308 T9 and also considering Kia Cerato 2016.
Any advise? I don’t see a lot 308 T9s selling on the internet. Most of them are sold quite fast.

Is the T9 known for visiting the workshop often? I know the T7s are though.

Get the Cerato.

I have a Cerato, now looking for a 308 T9 as a third car.
