The eyxnos 5 supports being paired with LTE modems that covers the 20 bands. The compability was announced by the division within Samsung that manufactures the chips. They released the statement in response of claims that the exynos quad might not support LTE. When they were asked whether the S4 would support LTE or not, they directed people to ask those questions to Samsung Mobile.

Whether the SOC would be paired with an LTE modem or not is a decision for Samsung Mobile who designed the S4 to make which they have apparently decided not to include in the international exynos powered i9500 S4. They are technically independant of each other. A huge company like Samsung group has many subsidiaries and subdivisions who operate independantly from each other.

No octa?
*
He was complaining he only got the Sprint version which had such lousy data connectivity that the data tests were meaningless. No Octa.

If you read the part about the Battery and Charging, it seems the Note 2 charger already employs such technology. rclxms.gif

Also, excerpt on the CPU:

Digging through the Galaxy S 4 kernel source we see references to an APQ8064AB part. As a recap, APQ8064 was the first quad-core Krait 200 SoC with no integrated modem, more commonly referred to as Snapdragon S4 Pro. APQ8064T was supposed to be its higher clocked/Krait 300 based successor that ended up with the marketing name Snapdragon 600. APQ8064AB however is, at this point, unique to the Galaxy S 4 but still carries the Snapdragon 600 marketing name.

If we had to guess, we might be looking at an actual respin of the APQ8064 silicon in APQ8064AB. Assuming Qualcomm isn't playing any funny games here, APQ8064AB may simply be a respin capable of hitting higher frequencies. We'll have to keep a close eye on this going forward, but it's clear to me that the Galaxy S 4 is shipping with something different than everyone else who has a Snapdragon 600 at this point.

Does Msia 4G Phones comes with antenna? My trip to Korea last year I saw plenty of Samsung 4G phones with antenna on the top right corner n they pull it out to watch tv. Or maybe Korea 4G is different from ours?
*
Yes they have some kind of digital broadcasting which we don't have here. Won't work at all here.

Something like that would probably have to forgo removable battery and maybe would have lower specs like galaxy S3 and galaxy s3 mini lol.

The Galaxy Xcover 2 has IP67 rating with a removable battery and microsd. The backplate is secured by a screw action. No flimsy flaps.

But having said that, I don't know if it heralds a bad habit of making users wash their phones are purposely submerging it for the heck of it. The XZ thread contains quite a number of boo boos from people purposely submerging their phones are habitually washing it. rclxub.gif

Again however, if you look at Sony's TV ad, it shows the use case of protection against ACCIDENTAL or INCIDENTAL splashes and spills rather than purposeful submersion, eg snorkelling or river video filming.

Lastly, Seidio OBEX series cases offer immediate IP57 or IP67 protection ..... so why sweat it? whistling.gif

My 2 cents is that electronics and water DO NOT mix and I will only wipe my phone if I really must, and not wash it even if it's supposedly waterproof.

TS, I have created a form for S4 owners here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1eRZ4NoICss...0ihPYY/viewform

All, you may use this to add yourselves instead of having the TS add. It is an extremely tedious job as I went thru the experience.

Here is the list. The first 3 owners prepopulated.

Best actually is to save the image in local, open with gallery and turn max brightness. I'm just curious to see if Samsung improved their AMOLED issue with grey-to-black handling in S IV.
*
So how should we interpret the result? Is being able to view "1" the best?

EDIT: oh sorry didn't notice you'd already replied. thanks.

I wonder if those Note 2 users on Perseus kernel with that color tweak can see till "1" or you can see it without tweaking?

Yes, normally best to see up till 1, which mean display no black clipping.
Yeah, i got test on S3 before.
The image just to test the display can deal with blacks that are not fully black yet. Can see 3 at max brightness is pretty decent, on par with my Note.

Black clipping issue kinda affect you when watching movie, because the dark scenes become too "dark" as the screen cannot support the "not pure black" colors. The image actually is a bunch of gradients from grey-to-black. In Note xda forums, a lot of owner face the issue where the clipping is very bad, so when they watch movie can see grey/black blotches.

According to some user research, it's half hardware issue, half software. Apparently in S3/NoteII, they can fix and tweak the kernel to produce the proper result, but not so much luck for previous generation owner.

So for S IV, was wondering if Samsung still continue with the issue or not. Just for curiosity, since no big review site actually got test this.

Much thanks to all the owner for helping to test!
