*
My girl already have 1.83Ghz MB, and that MB is much better than my G4 iBook. But I still want MBP, why? Yeah same like you I don't want a laptop with built-in graphic chip like Intel GMA950 - it sux! I'm also waiting if there any best deal I can get for MBP smile.gif

I wonder will they change the graphic chips in new MB to new or better one? Because somebody is offering me 1.83Ghz MB with low price. Will it worth to wait for the new one or just go for that damn cheap one. Actually I hate that GMA950 graphic, it sux!

*
Send it to any Apple shop and they'll check your serial number just to know where'd you bought it and if still in waranty no charge to you. And as long as you're on a planet called planet earth, just send it to any Apple shop smile.gif

yes. smile.gif

mine runs around 60-70C most of the time.

u cant put it on your lap.
*
You should upgrade your firmware because I think anyone who upgrade the MB to the latest firmware would not facing the heat prob anymore, I think the temperature after the SMC update is below 60. Mine is around 38 to 50 only.

Today my MacBook giving me a very big problem. After I update the OS to 10.4.8, I restart it (it's normal, right?) then it won't boot into dekstop. The grey waiting circle below the apple logo (you all knew what is it,right?) keep on spinning and although I left it for 3 hours it still same. Then I try to boot to CD by pressing Apple + C and target selection Ctrl + S. It won't boot. I finally try the Apple + V and there's many yellow line (errors!) came out and some of it is like this:

"Failed to load extension com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement"
"Can't allocate class IntelCPUPowerManagement"
"Failed to load extension com.apple.USBUHCI.iokit.ioahciserialatapi"
"Can't allocate class USBUHCI"

I wonder what the h*ll is going on, I'm guessing something wrong with the logic board since I'm waiting for the logic board replacement (RSS symptom) for almost 3 weeks (very very long wait sad.gif) but before the Software Update everything was OK although sometime it turn of by itself (The RSS, again!)

So is there anyone could give me any other way that probably can solve this mess? Oh yes, please don't suggest me to send it to AppleCenter - that's the last choice we have!

I'm in a big depressed now - you see now it's 7AM I could not sleep since last night sad.gif

Thanks in advance.

I guess I found the solution by myself this morning biggrin.gif

Since the errors displayed is about the drivers or something like that so I guess nothing wrong with the logic board so I try to boot from CD and instead from using Apple + C I manage to boot from CD by just pressing C only. I try to repair permision but still could not boot in. Then I need to do clean installation (thank god there's archieve and install option) then everything is Okay now.

Cheers.

i had the same scare after i installed the update too... the circle spun for abt 10 mins... and the system restarted... then it was normal boot... geez... this is kinda surprising for me cause i've never imagine apple os to scare ppl like this... neeways... things r up and runnin now... phew...

on a separate note, i'm stil waiting for the logic board too... blardee wankers r so slow with the order!...  doh.gif

I've faced something like this with Panther before but the problem solved by just repairing the permision using Disk Utility. But this time looks like Disk Utility didn't work for me.

What? You didn't get the replacement yet? I thought I was the only one. I thought people who went to VR Tech already got their board relpaced. I went to Axis Comp in PJ. I thought they were slow, but looks like I found my mates now biggrin.gif

Keep on patient dude tongue.gif

I think you are right but it's too late now because I already update it again to 10.4.8 and guess what? About This Mac shows my CPU as 'Unknown CPU' and could not get the temperature, Core Duo Temp Widgets and Application says 'Undefined' While iStat Pro says 'No CPU Found' Too lazy to re-install it lorr.. Just let it be like that until the board replaced sweat.gif

QUOTE(civic98 @ Oct 1 2006, 12:31 PM)
It says on the download that it would restart twice, the first time taking longer, so it shouldnt be of any worries rite?

If i grab it now and upgrade it to Leopard, that means i will be spending more money?

What if Apple upgrades the macbook with newer processors or more new stuff along with leopard?

Could that happen?

Yes, of course it 'could' happen biggrin.gif

i think u better bring it to check, better be safe than sorry,
after i took my mb for check on isight, they say at first no prob for first 2 day, and the nrealize another new proiblem on 3rd day, some cracking sound when switching on my mb, and this time they'll send it for warranty for even longer period sleep.gif  rclxub.gif
*
Already send the MB for waranty claim for 3 times. 1- Logic board problem 2- Hinge at the top cover 3- Trackpad not funtioning and now, HDD problem.. Very tired la of waiting, very bad luck with this MB, never have such experience like this with Mac.. and PC also.

People will laugh at me if they know I already send the MB for waranty 3 times sweat.gif

Thanks tinkerbel. But to whom should I speak to?
Because when the third time I want to send my MB to repair, already ask for new unit but they say cannot because only a part is broken and they'll replace only that part.
It is Axis Computer, PJ. But good and fast service tough.
Then I call the operator and she also said Apple will only repair or replace broken part only.
I'm only one of many many many more Mac user in M'sia, very tiny one.
I think if Tan Sri Limkokwing call just to report the OS need to be formatted, they must've replace it with new unit in 24 hours.
Haih.. Ya it's the first batch, got it after a month announced.

vandetta,
Perhaps write an official letter and direct straight to Apple office in Malaysia and CC it to their USA counterpart and hope that their customer service is good  smile.gif  I don't deal with Apple so i'm unable to assist you further.

Or, if you really think Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing be able to get a replacement immediately, you can either speak with him or just use his name?  blush.gif
*
Thanks for your advice. Regarding Tan Sri LKW, of course he'll able to get a replacement immediately. He's the biggest Apple customer in M'sia biggrin.gif
