This is really good. Everybody's waiting for a long time for something like this. But it mentioned 'registered students, lecturer, professor and academic staff' What does it mean? Registered with whom? icon_idea.gif

Yes, I've installed the FC Studio by a little bit 'hack' (I think 'trick' is more suitable) and can use it properly except in Motion there's probem. Thanks to wei for providing the link. I would suggest you go for at least 1.83Ghz iMac if you are seriously want to use the FCP/FC Studio because the onboard graphic chips will limit some of the funtion (maybe). Dedicated graphic chip will be much more better (of course!)

u said in "motion" there is a problem...may i know whut kind of problem?

of course dedicated graphic is more efficient but based on the review , wiff 2gb of ram the 2.0Ghz macbook still can cope wiff the macbook pro series and G5

so was wondering, are u on 512 mb ram or 1 gb ram or oredi in 2gb of ram?

lastly anione here using macbook dont have any problem in Motion using the "tricks"?

again thanks in advanced
*
The trick is just only "do not using crossover FC" If you use universal FC it will surely run icon_idea.gif Motion would not run, but maybe others will be different biggrin.gif

I'm on 512 smile.gif

Hi, new Macbook owner here. So far so good, but does anyone find the DivX movie playback on the Mac OS a little fuzzy compared to Windows XP?

Also looking for a Macbook sleeve. Any idea where to find one? Tried some Gallant IT Apple stores, but they all seem to be closing down. Thanks.
*
I think I saw a sleeve for 13" laptop at MacStudio in Lowyat. If I'm not wrong, the price is around RM80 - RM90.

so meaning if um on macbook, i wont be able to use the FCP program fully?

aiya ya ya.....then i need to buy the MBP so im able to run FCP program fully...? rclxub.gif

im paying installment...MBP is too expensive...  doh.gif
*
Yes, I think so. In order to run the application smoothly must have at least it's minimum requirements. If you can wait, just wait after WWDC next week, who knows there's new spec or even new enclosure for MBP? rclxms.gif

Come on Shanks, I wonder how come they scrathced even you didn't touch them blink.gif

But I do agree with you, they'll get scratched even though you take a really good care of them, same to me, my iBook and PowerBook, they all scratched even though I'm carefull.. but the PB is less scratched than the iBook, maybe because of the material biggrin.gif

Maybe someone can suggest a material that won't scratch? tongue.gif

Yeah, it's quite small if you are using bittorent and save all your song collections in the MB's hard disk. You can upgrade it, it use same sata hard disk like the other notebooks smile.gif

opps, i managed to connect now.

now,..i just cannot open or even view my files in mac..

ive edi enable sharing on mac..but still cannot see any icons on windows

and the software is now not a freeware rite?
*
You have to enable file sharing in windows also and share the folder / partition that you want so then you can see the data in it..

QUOTE(benQue @ Aug 11 2006, 11:12 PM)
guys, is it normal for a macbook to stop processing any application after a while?

my 3 days old macbook can only open safari & itunes after 3 hours of use rclxub.gif

iphoto, photo booth, garage band all cannot, the icon just bouncing then not responding.

but after i restart it again..the application seems to be fine and able to use again..

is it a prblem with my macbook or i just need a bigger ram?
*
It's the pre-installed OS that came together with the MB, right? I would suggest you to erase and install it back, so that you can have full control of what will be installed in your MB smile.gif

QUOTE(supafreak @ Aug 11 2006, 11:22 PM)
Vandetta,
On a separate note, I'm now running on 2GB RAM!... Woo Hoo... and u know wat RAM i'm using? A-Data... cost me only 650 for 2GB... i traded in my original RAM which was Hynix or some crap brand like tat for 80 bucks... paid 570 for 2 GB... now i love my macbook even more!...

I tried to see if it'll lag and i launched like 6 quicktime movies, itunes, skype, microsoft words, excel, dreamweaver and keynote... it all ran smoothly... i'm gonna try sumore to see if i can hang my machine now.... hahaha...
*
Congartulations man, 2GB of RAM will push your Mac to maximum biggrin.gif But RM650 is surely a lot more cheaper than the tested-by-apple RAM and it worth it, right? rclxms.gif

First thing, I really want to talk face to face with people like you, n20nine because I think there will be many things that we can discuss together, maybe someday. smile.gif

Since like you said this is a 'public forum' so let me give my 2 cents of comment.

Second things, you should carefully read prasys post:

"Bear in mind , Vista would still *run* as GMA 950 is a DirectX 9 Card but minus the eye candy [you could turn it on but again it can't take it] , so its possible to run Vista"

He's not saying Vista will run perfectly on MB, Vista would still run, mean not running perfectly. Like someone before is asking wether FCP can run on MB or not, it will run but not perfectly, that is the different n20nine. tongue.gif

Third things, AFAIK you can just google for MB running Vista, the latest news is Microsoft is demo Vista on MBP and there's many more, including Vista on BootCamp and Parallels and also Vista on MacMini and MB, so you can just simply google it. rolleyes.gif

Fourth things, we're not teaching you or anyone to dump anything, just giving an option that you have if you are using Intel Mac. in Windows, you can dump windows to go for Linux, but how many common people that know about Linux? Can you tell me? icon_idea.gif

Fifth things, 90% of world is using windows because it's has been a standard, like common people who is not IT geeks would not know what is AMD and what is PPC. When these people want to buy a computer they will ask "Ini pakai pentium berapa ah? Berapa Ghz?" They would not understand even you take an hour to explain to them why AMD FX-55 which clocked 2.xGhz still can beat Intel Extreme 3.73Ghz, these people never know what is PPC, TDP, RAM latency, because they only know the standard things only. People start to know Mac when Apple go for Intel and the latest news is Apple is at third rank for notebook manufacturer. People have to buy Mac computer to use MAC OS, so that is why many is saying that Mac is expensive even it is not really expensive. To use windows, you just need any computer to use it, less than 1K you already can have Celeron based PC with WinXP license, but Apple? At least 2.5K for lowest spec of MacMini. As for me Apple and Windows user is in different level of usage and level of knowledge, and also level of desire. But I don't know you. icon_rolleyes.gif

Sixth things, actually I can do programming on Mac, I've post somewhere in this forum the software for it, you can just search for it. And I also can do Electronic engineering circuit on Mac, since I start to use mac, I never have problem with it except for AutoCAD stuff. But I don't think IT student do AutoCAD, right? cool.gif

There's a lot more I want to type, but my eyes feel sleepy, maybe next time I can continue, but as for now let we 'the mac fanatics' know your opinion, n20nine. wink.gif

sure, sure vandetta we can meet up someday smile.gif i'm in pg, i suppose ur in KL, rite? PM me if you ever wanna discuss anything. btw, i was told that we can increase the VRAM in the MB to 224MB. Anyone tried this? Decided to take the MB as I can switch between MAC OS & Win. BTW, I postponed my unit till Leopard comes out, the guy in the store adviced me, i think i will take that as I spent 500 bucks on Tiger just few months after I got my PB so I would rather wait few months to save that money.
*
Yep, I'm in KL dude. Haha same to me here, I also going to wait until Leopard is out before switch to Intel Mac, that would be the best for my buck. For the time being, I will stick with my iBook G4 and iMac G5, don't yet feel it's obselete. But playing with my gf's MB do make me feel jelous sweat.gif

Yep I do agree if they can make a notebook with dedicated Graphic Card since in Windows world 4K notebook already can get dedicated Graphic Card, why not for the highest spec of the MB, they give us dedicated Graphic Card also. But it's easier to talk than done, right? tongue.gif
