hi, is the Optimax Ipoh branch still functioning? I cannot find any info on it but I had a friend who did lasik there 2 years ago. Anyone got their contact number or something?

buying sunglasses is another headache    never wore one except clip ons

anyway was going around looking for some and realised got 2 options... one is polarized and another is uv protection

major branded ones dont have polarized. But the cheaper range has it. Pretty funny
which one to use after lasik? need polarised lenses?

i was looking for some the other day

my wife likes the coach sunglasses but the shop said coach does not come with polarized lense. They said designer sunglasses only have uv block.

only got in brands like sub, arinko (i think) and cyber ... i am not familiar with this brands so did not get it.
btw how long r we suppose to wear the sunglasses after lasik. is it advisable to keep wearing it? can not wear it afters ay 2-3 months? or better to wear?

i have never worn outdoor and not used to it... only use clip on for highway driving.

Just to share: I did my LASIK (blade) in KPJ centre for sight recently. 5/6th day now. So amazed with the recovery. No pain at all throughout the procedure but I feel discomfort for few hours (mainly because I can't calm myself to sleep). The eye sight is very blurry for few hrs after the surgery but after sleep it get better and better. I hv my follow up the next morning and I was able to drive myself there. And do some minor shopping after the follow up. Considering the satisfaction of the procedure 4.5/5 (not taking into account the possibility of side effect that might come after some years)

for the blade, it costs about rm5k

i just called up optimax TTDI to enquire...she said with referral letter is RM3750 each eye(bladeless)...while normal eye test 2 packages either RM135 or RM175....Is this the price if get the referral letter? Which doctor whould i choose? still thinking whether end year to do laser..I heard optimax have roadshow promotion but its not as much discount compare with referral letter

Hi there, I'm interested in doing LASIK but unsure which is better: Dr Chew eye specialist, Lee Eye Centre (both in Ipoh) or Optimax. Any recommendation. And also, if I were to do it in Optimax, can I get the referral letter from you for a discounted price?

There are many side effects of Lasik in long term. You could develop a condition called ectasia. If you develop it your life will be completely ruined. Having ectasia is similar to keratoconus. It will progress untill you are completely blind. Even glasses don't work for ectasia patients. Hard lens is only solution to have decent vision.

If you want to minimize the risk of getting ectasia then do PRK / Lasek / Epi-Lasik. It doesn't penetrate the eye like lasik does but it also has its own risks. It removes a thin layer called bowman's layer permanently. So its also not a good thing for your precious cornea.

If you want to be glasses free unfortunately there is no safe way. If you don't wanna be blind in 15 years please don't do lasik. Its really harmful surgery. I don't get why this surgery is not banned yet. There was a time when RK surgery was popular but now those who had RK are now having severe vision problems 15 or 20 years later and there is no fix for it. Now RK surgery is banned in many countries. There would be a time when this lasik will also be banned for blinding millions of patients.

after it will be Rm6,500 per eye.

at last got my eye examination done

my power is pretty low 200 and 175
after dilation it is 100 and 75
why is there a huge difference or is it normal?

the test was done by the optometrist and is now awaiting the doctors review on the report this tuesday. the dr is not there on saturdays.

will optimax give me the report on the eye test?

acc,  to the optometrist, i am suitable with good corner thickness. Its just that the power suitability since there is a huge difference of power before n after dilation. (if i remember correctly)

if all is ok, will get the correction done asap. no more waiting 
as for my wife, her power is lower, 50 and 100

after dilation, 25 and 75 ...i think...

anyway, they recommended only one eye to be done instead of both., the higher power one of course.
so would the vision be clear by doing one eye only?

will be doing a lot of travelling and water activities so we need clear vision! 

optimax called me this morning to schedule another eye test. i went there just now for the check up and was also advised by the dr.

it seems i have been using an over prescribed lenses....a higher power than my actual power

there were 2 options given to me, which i chose the 2nd... to use the new lower prescribe lenses for a month or 2 to see if i can see well and get used to it. something to do with the eye muscles since i have been wearing glasses for ages...+ over prescribed lenses...

so now i have to get a new pair of glasses or lenses fitted... the power is pretty much lower....

if it is fine, then i can proceed with the lasik
i wonder how come the opticians at the specs shop over prescribed my power? or is it a common practice?

btw, how much is the cheapest lenses i can get since it is just for a trial use? my power is 150 R and 125 L as given by the dr.

i got my new specs done just now

my previous power was about  225 on both sides
pretty high man

now with 150 R and 125 L, i can see near but far is blur, cant drive with this new specs.

hope the eyes can adjust itself back normal. will it?

I'm new to the forum.  Found this thread informative re lasers procedures for eyes.  May I know which clinic did you end up doing your eyes?  I'm also based at Kota Kinabalu, been out of space for a while so I only know the clinics at CP or SMC.  If you've done it, may I know what are your opinions or suggestions?

On a more general question, does Jialat's referral work with any Optimax around Malaysia.

Hi, the payment i paid by credit card. They accept credit card. Can pay by installment also using credit card but for certain banks only like citibank.

Wow, 2K extra.. but do they use microkeratome or all lasik? There is only microkeratome in optimax kota kinabalu.
Last month there was a promotion .. RM2250 per eyes only. So both eyes RM4500 .. too bad the promotion is over.
