Hi All, I am new here. Just wanted to share my personal experience with Dr Wong Jun Shyan at ISEC. Went there for my Pre Lasik Assessment and was diagnosed with thin corneas. I was told that if regression happens I will not be able to have further enhancement. In short if my prescription come back I will still need to wear glasses. Upon hearing the bad news I started asking questions about the odds of getting regression and if regression happens what are the power. The doc was very unfriendly, impatient and always only give me a 3 - 4 words answer and followed by "any other question" everytime aft he answered. He doesn't even look at me when he is replying. He is the kind of doc that did not show a slightest hint of concern for the patient and all he is interested in is the money and getting me out of the room as soon as possible. Well at least this is the impression he gave me. He as the doc should be furnishing me with all the information and not me trying to press for details. This is a basic right for a patient. I asked "what do you think? Should I proceed with the surgery since I have thin corneas and I don't like the idea of wearing glasses again after the surgery. Do you think it is advisable?". Without a hesitation, he said "of course, just schedule your op with the nurse. Any other other question?" Dr Wong is notorious for his bad bedside manner (3 friends of mine have encounters with him and 1 got his surgery done there and 2 left because of his stinky attitude!) Even after all the bad stuff I heard about him I still proceeded to see him because he is technically good. I thought I could  ignore the attitude part but he push it too far.

I went to see a different doc in SG for a 2nd opinion and my experience with this doctor is a lot more pleasant. He took his time to address my concerns and explained to me that even with my thin corneas I should achieve good result with intralase flaps. Dr Wong never explained to me about anything. I don't even know what technology or machine he will using on me. The 2nd doc kindly offer to write a note to Dr Wong as all the medical terms are beyond my comprehension and advised me to have my op done back in Msia because of the price difference. I was a lot more relief and have more understanding and knowledge of the options I have after seeing the 2nd doc. I wrote to Dr Wong to schedule for my op, asked if there's any thing I should prepare prior to my op and attached the letter from the SG doctor. Received a 1 line reply saying "There is no additional prep" from Dr Wong. No comment on the letter at all. Still I booked my trip back to KL and went for the op only to found out at the waiting room that ISEC do not have the Intralase facility and they only do Microkeratome!!!!!! This is totally unacceptable. He could at least let me know that they do not do Intralase! I would be such an idiot if I go anywhere near him ever again!

for my case mostly will cost how much ??

have anyone heard any stories of the surgery failure? what has happened after that? and what has been done to fix it?

interested in getting an operation though

I am in Johor too, would like to know which of the two is better (more responsible doctor), i dont think the price between these two would defer too much, just need a better doctor ... any recommendation?

3:30pm Lasik Treament
By 4:30pm im out of Optimax

Experience: 3sec right eye, 11sec left eye, no pain at all. Did not even realized it was over.
However the next 4-6hours: pretty bad for me. Crying eye, stingy eye,, Nose block +headache. Just exactly like crying the whole nite.

The next morning wow, i can see KLCC twin tower from my hotel room!

My point of view regarding OPTIMAX: service could be better, i was left to wait for 1hr before checkup, after checkup waitied another hour. Thye are all too very very very busy. Too many customers. Everything has to be done in a rush IMHO.

My 2nd day after lasik. My right eye = perfect vision. However my left eye, i feel im still having 50-100degree. Not as clear as my right eye. Is that normal?

I am from Indonesia and would like to get LASIK surgery.
I have -7.00 and -8.00 for my left and right eyes.
Reading this forum, it seems like I will choose to do it at Optimax Malaysia, either in KL or in JB.

Can someone kindly help me to answer some questions please?
1. How many time do I need to go to Malaysia to check my eye (before and after the surgery)?

2. How long do I need to stay (normally) in Malaysia to do the surgery?
(J_Vansen_S did you return back to Brunei the next day?? Is it really possible?)

3. Do Optimax have guarantee, that is, if my eyes become myopic again after some times, will I need to pay again to do re-surgery?

4. How much it will be for the bladeless lasik treatment? (uhh so scary if I have to see blades....)

5. Can I have referral from Jialat? And how much it will cost me (including pre-examination)?

6. Any reference for good doctor in TTDI KL and in JB?

1. I have two plans.

PLAN A: Do it on early July
* Thursday afternoon (4 July): fly to Kuala Lumpur
* Friday (5 July): do the pre lasik check-up and do the surgery on TTDI,
* Saturday (6 July): post-surgery check-up on TTDI,
* Sunday (7 July): return flight to Indonesia.
* 1 week + 1 day after surgery (Saturday 13 July): do the post surgery check-up on in my home country.
* 1 month after surgery (4~9 August): do the post surgery check-up in Optimax JB/TTDI .

PLAN B:
* Thursday afternoon (1 August): fly to Kuala Lumpur ,
* Friday (2 August): do the pre lasik check up and do the surgery on TTDI,
* Saturday (3 August): post surgery check-up at Optimax TTDI and go to JB afterwards.
* 1 week after surgery (Friday - 9 August): do post surgery check-up in Optimax JB,
* Saturday (10 August): flight back to Indonesia.
* 1 month after surgery (September): do post surgery check-up in Optimax JB/TTDI.

What do you think? Is these plans good enough (particularly plan A), or do I need to stay longer?
2. When will Optimax have holiday on August due to hari raya? (Indonesia will have 1 week holiday though...., I am not sure about Malaysia)

3. Indonesia Jakarta Eye Center has 6D laser treatment in which they claim that the laser can follow the eyes movement. Is it a better technology? Will the result be a lot of different?

4. Do I need to meet your friend in person? Can the letter sent via email or letter to my bf in JB instead?

5. Any budget hotel recommended?

Hi! I got email reply from Optimax, saying that they will be close from 8 August to 12 August regarding Hari Raya.

I think I will do it before hari raya on Optimax TTDI with Dr Chung.

Regarding technology;
"As regards to technology, our laser machine also have this so said eye tracker which in Indonesia Jakarta Eye Center called it 6D laser treatment."

The 6D laser is claimed to be faster than the usual lasik machine (3D), so the eyes will be exposed to the air lesser time. Therefore, they said that the post surgery side effect like dry eyes, halo, etc can be reduced.

Btw, how long do I need to wait after the surgery to travel using MRT/LRT/bus in Malaysia and Singapore?

i dropped by optimax penang today. dropped by sometime last 2 weeks but they were closed...
Quite surprised they cannot do it all in one day.!

Need to go 4 the eye examination (3 hrs) first and schedule the lasik on another day.
Planning to do the eye test sometimes in 2 weeks. Then the lasik.

According to the person there, after the eye test still can drive. Anyone can confirm this?

What about after the lasik?

After the lasik, it is not suggested to drive your car by your own.

I called Optimax, the staff is not sure about the referral letter, but she said that there is promotion this month for Father's day, but the discount amount differ from each surgery. So i think it is safer to bring the referral letter there..Thanks!

"The full eye examination is chargeable @ Rm135 and since you do have a referral letter issued by *friend of jialat*, we will be honouring it with this  very special price i.e. Rm3,750 per eye for Custom All Laser Lasik only  instead of Rm4,000 per eye.

For your kind information this referral letter is only applicable to Custom All Laser Lasik treatment. only. As for other treatment type i.e. Custom Advanced Surface Ablation, the price is Rm4, 000 per eye."

Btw, its sound silly, but how if we cry few days after lasik?

I just went for a screnning at optimax sunway and i was told i've only two choices for lasik, either blade or bladeless but both customized cause my pupil is small so need customized. But the issue is blade custom lasik is rm 4500 for both eyes and bladeless lasik is rm7800 for both. So,i'm having a tough time choosing which one...was told that both also almost the same but bladeless of course lesser flap risk and saves tissue... so which one to take? is it a lot of difference blade and non blade?

I'm going for eye check tomorrow (13/7) at TTDI Optimax. Just found out from this forum that if I were to get the referral letter from you, there will be discount on the test and also the operation fee?
Mentioned to me the price is RM 7,700 for custom all lasik procedure for both eyes.
From the forum, the info is the fee will be RM7,500 with the referral letter. Really appreciate if you can email me soonest.
