Seems like even cleaning up the dust in a PC also requires alot of work as well.... laugh.gif
Previously I used damp cloth and brush to clean them up ... but yet within few weeks later they are back once more..!

I just gave a try on using a damp cloth, small vacumm and cotton buds and a brush.

I wiped the dirt off the non electrical parts with the cloth, and used the brush to get the dirt off. Used the vacumm cleaner to get the flying bits of dirt and cotton buds to get between the ram slots, VGA and all.

It's pretty clean now, I'm waiting for another month and it'll be dustry again.

Good to hear that...! My casing have already become the graveyard for those trapped mosquitoes and insects ... plenty of them. I wonder how they enter inside...unsure.gif

you can find those in ACE Hardware store. should be RM20+ quite expensive. cheaper alternative is to get a straw and blow the dust off yourself laugh.gif

i borrowed a compressor from my friend's factory
small horsepower one
i just dismantle all the components and blow away
very effective, about statics, didnt see the effect yet
my rig is now almost 3years old, so far so good *knocking on wood*

For static(ESD), new packaging now are more ESD resistant as the design incorporate more ESD protection into the design. As ESD can be classify into many levels, so for computer components, the use of vacuum cleaner and compress air is safe as the voltage generated will not be high enough to kill the part. So just ground urself b4 touching any components by touching on some metal part, and it should be quite safe.

Search in wikipedia for ESD for more information.

i'm using swapping technics to swap out old fan and replace with new fans. the old fan was then going thru cleaning and oiling before test run it again. so my system can keep running without "DOWNTIME"
