Hey I don't think we have fallen to first division yet ...

Remember the CME thing they did in IMU recently ... we won first and third price.

And what is to say that alone is standard. We should have a national fair ranking system if we were to ever know. No one can judge a place fairly even without going there and observing the many facets which form the institution itself.

By the way, Mr. Stanley is a really cool guy ... LOL ... we can keep this a secret until someone guesses it right.

The accommodation includes food. (breakfast, lunch, dinner) ... though its nothing to sing about; its still edible. That's why it looks expensive. Most unis don't offer this kind of thing (for a good reason). On the whole the accommodation is cheap. You get heater showers and its like a normal apartment. You get a metal cupboard, bed with mattress and a study table with a chair individually. You share a shoe rack and towel hangers. You got to get a LAN cable for the net and probably a router as there is one port per room.

Of course, there are much better comfortable places to stay around ... I recommend BLM (just avoid the Stroke 3 houses) or Legenda Heights but its about 10 kms away from the campus. It is near the hospital (useful for clinical students). But if you wanna fork out petrol, look for your own food and etc. ... you better get attenuated with this place first. I however do not recommend the housing estates around the university; there is just NO INTERNET ACCESS plus a host of other crappy things (security, food n etc.). Trust me, it is bad enough living in a jungle but being disconnected, no! It is really poor cost benefit ratio.

My two cents: stay in the hostel for sometime, get to know semeling, bedong, sp, then arrange your housemates, look for a nice house deal (normally at most comes upto 800 per house [5 rooms]) and move out together.

hope this helps.
bye.

Choosing a school based on their toilets is ridiculous. Don't you think so? LOL.

Hey Yeon ...
Go to AIMST website ... www.aimst.edu.my
see the International Students link
as well as the School of Dentistry link.

Can any AIMST dental students help Yeon out?

Having international students in AIMST would be a bit unusual, as AFAIK they don't have twinning programs, save for those from the subcontinent who couldn't get into other medical schools. But international students using Malaysia as a stepping stone is all too common.

Inti is pretty much kept afloat with the Mainland Chinese/Nigerians/Namibians who do 2 + 2 programs and end up in the developed world. I have met Mainland Chinese and Nigerians who would have never been able enter Australian/New Zealand universities, if it wasn't for spending a few years in M'sia.

Even IMU is filled with Singaporeans who could not have gotten into western medical schools directly, so they use IMU's (relatively) lax admission standards as a spring board.

No international student comes to Malaysia for a education as a ends. It is always a means to another end.

Well about the crazy thing associated with the management ....
they send letters and results slips at the most weirdest times ...
worst was my offer letter to mbbs ... it was roughly about 2 years ago ... they sent it so very late ... like a week before the programme AND the reply form was due the very next day which was a public holiday ... so i had to run n fax it ... but if such a situation happens to you, call A.S.A.P. and speak to a superior officer like the head of department ... these junior ranking staff often think above their head ...

Anyway ... while foundation is like a very elastic balloon which can be filled in again n again ... mbbs is a sorta water tight ... u got to make the calls and be sure .. ...

hope this helps....

QUOTE(Ivangile @ Apr 3 2009, 07:46 PM)
Hello, hope any1 around to help my problems.
I applied for JPA but i realize that the result will only be out at May 3rd week. So, i want to enroll meanwhile waiting for the result.
So, my problem is :
1) I want to go for April intake, but apparently i am late, do i allow to go straight to AIMST when registration day?

2) If May intake, do it more difficult to enroll into degree course cause i heard that they will accept the student from April first before May, the risk is there rite? I meant, if the student in April exceed the limit of the course. Btw, I will take pharmacy, is there any case of insufficient place?
*
1) Have you tried calling them?

About your 2nd question rite ... you have a point but it depends on your score ... contrary to popular belief ... students who opt for pharmacy have a generally high score; the entry requirement maybe 175 (i m not sure) but i see some students with 240 or 250 opt for pharm as well.
Although ... i have never heard a single batch of students limiting the course because nowadays i think they dispatch all the offer letters one shot. So everyone has an equal chance. I don't think they belief in bumming people of to the following intake ... it did cause a lot of probs. You better call and check anyway.

I was from the july intake and nearly all who applied for medicine from my batch got in and our batch size then was only about 60 ... now it is 200.

hey guys, do aimst accepts those who didn't take physics in stpm/A level to study dentistry in aimst?

Did u do physics in SPM? Thats a must of MQA requirement.

Check the uni website about the Physics @ pre-u level.
I don't think it is a pre-requisite though.

Well i think the costs went up because they had to rebuild a lot of portions of the Dental Hospital and Engineering Faculty.

Every batch is different even ever so slightly.
But for first year it usually follows the following:

*CA is continuous assessment
8 weeks; 1 week CA1; 1 week holidays
8 weeks; 1 week CA2; 2 weeks mid-year break
8 weeks; 1 week CA3; 1 week holidays
8 weeks; 1 week CA4;
3 weeks study holidays;
2 - 3 weeks Finals;
8 weeks end of the year holidays

and u need to know all of these are subject to change.
hope i helped.

It is often open in extended hours when there are examinations.

Speaking of the library, did you hear about the ridiculous new male dress-code?

About the shop thing; I guess opening in the taman immediately near the sports complex would be an okay idea but then again depends on what you choose to sell. The few reasons I go out is for food, groceries (if you plan to wage a price-war with tesco), food (again) and maybe computer appliances (printer ink and etc.). But if service is good with a good price I think anything will run.
