Insider and stock price manipulation is always there, it depends if you are smart enough to avoid it or follow the herd and get trapped. Just because you lost lots of money, why should we stay clear of the stock market? No insider information also can earn money, by applying good fundamental analysis. Punting is another story.  laugh.gif

How much have you made so far? Not asking for the exact amount.... is it by the tens of thousands or by the hundreds of thousands?

Well I have not lost money in my overall holdings, since i started investing if that is what you are asking... investing is a long term process, if you treat it like gambling, you will lose your pants. wink.gif

This public forum friend.
No need to ask so direct.

Anyway, that's just a set of comments which I agree very much.
One can make good money in the market by applying good fundamental analysis in the market.

Last year I was able to recover my previous year (also my 1st trading year) loss and started getting profit until now. My 1st year loss was a Camry. The turnaround story started after I decided to focus on fundamental play and just use 5% capital for gambling activities. Learn the lesson by sweating gaw gaw on that Camry. sweat.gif

I didn't ask for the exact amount... just a rough idea because I haven't yet seen anybody making money. Losing money, a lot. The guys making big money are those who have insider information and the big boys manipulating the market.

Fundamental analysis? I was at a bank cashing out my unit trusts that haven't been earning any money for almost a decade. There was one Malay guy beside me who cursed and swore. He too was cashing out and saying goodbye to unit trusts. Isn't it true that unit trust managers are supposed to be experts in the stock market? So how come we are not even earning the same amount as putting the money in the bank and doing nothing?

The implication of that question is rather 'strange'.
Do consider the following.
The question suggests that one needs to be 'qualified' to talk about stocks.
When that happens, the suggestion is that one needs to be making money to talk stocks, which would mean that one needs to show proof before talking.
Wouldn't it be strange when this happens?
Is like saying 'Show us your portfolio before you talk'.

I believe many here are making money. smile.gif

And in regards to Unit Trust investing.
Well I think very lowly of Unit Trust managers and I would rather have my money rot in my biscuit tins (under my bed tongue.gif laugh.gif ) than put money into it.

1. Totally true. Friends around me who used to talk big big about stock market before I joining in 3 years ago are all losing money in their overall 10-15 years in the market.

2. Unit Trust have many different funds to choose from. The managers are not to earn money for you, they are just to try their best to make profit from the criteria of the particular fund. For instance, a China Investment Fund. How to make profit if you buy that fund at the time when China market already overvalued? However, the IB consultants are suppose to help customer on this. But the reality in Malaysia is this, they don't. In fact, they usually do the opposite. When a fund seems peak, they show you the pretty historical graph and sell to you to make their commission earnings. This is very bad for the industry. And I'm very surprise to find this still happening until today even at the best bank Public Bank or Public Mutual. Public Bank shareholders should voice this out in the AGM. mad.gif

Investing has to be learned and understood.

Not easy as putting your money here and there type of thing, for a gain aka fast track to success .

Talk is free and talk is also cheap! laugh.gif laugh.gif

I actually don't believe in talking about our portfolio profit or losses because it's the internet. whistling.gif

Most important is the discussion itself.
A good discussion is worth all the gold. thumbup.gif
