Ok.. some review.. Got it last week (Saturday) - 10MBps line
Suprised to see both Unifi contractor + maxis installer at the same time. Both are friendly. Installation finished in 1 hour. Feels RM 170 is quite expensive for over the ceiling installation. Anyhow, unifi contractor willing to give more than 15m without extra charge. Installation are tidy.
Being told unlimited download by the maxis guy -> Kena con Throttle to 50KBps for 6 hours.. @@ (Found out the 2nd day) This duration = anything oso slower than usual. Ping response quite high.
The router is thomson brand. Blardy useless. Cant even change dns. So little stuff to configure. Even my old streamyx router have more stuff to configure than this crap. So far it held quite ok. No restart so far. Maybe coz I use chikai fan to cool it.
I have existing VPN account. Sometimes work sometimes not. Headache here. Any suggestion?? If work, can get up to 1.1MBps. When it is not working, download speed like 1 to 2KBps. Average around 500-700KBps. When download, I still can surf. But not always.
Questions. 1. The TM device thingy got 4 ports. Can use other port to connect or only connect to Thomson router? 2. Anyone using Microtik router? Any review? If change router, the phone still can use? 3. Anyway to change the dns in Thomson router?
P/S : I think streamyx is much more stable and faster than this.

QUOTE(kytan @ Aug 7 2013, 04:11 PM) Bro, you can try out this link to change router: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2384890My installation will take place later this month and I am starting to do some homework on how to use my own router. Bought an Asus RT-N66U and preconfigured it based on what I gathered. Fingers crossed, it should work when I just plug it in. If you are using Maxis VOIP, you will need to keep the Thomson router for the phone's sake. Otherwise you can try the following link to configure your modem to and use for VOIP: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2710206About your installation, RM170 for ceiling installation? Mind sharing what did they do for the RM170? RM 170 includes 1. from outside pole to back of my house wall (the black line + the termination point thingy - gray color 1 (free)) 2. from outside wall drill one hole ngam ngam above my ceiling then lay the fiber cable + microconduit (cover for fiber) then to my room (just the fiber) 3. they will then use the hook to hold the fiber cable (something like white hook + nail - if you have astro, u will know) to nail it to the wall, less clutter that way RM 170 cash give to unifi contractor for item 2 and 3. Above 15m got extra charge. Calculate per meter.
