High MP only give you more Magic Find, XP, Gold and more chance to get Demonic Essence. Everything else is the same.

Try move towards Life Steal instead. Ditch both Shenlong. Sad right? I know. But if you wanna push DPS higher, you must. And then, craft!

Some interesting stuff I can read between the line... these are mostly speculation:

1) Moar Monter Power!
- Travis: Josh brings a lot of design experience and really good design instincts and I find a lot of the time it’s perspective. Sometimes I get really close to a problem, like we’re tuning Monster Power in particular or Inferno difficulty...
- Travis could have been talking about the existing Monster Power. It was in PTR since Nov last year. Travis joined the D3 team 12 months ago.. it's possible but we want MOAR!

2) The next patch is Itemization! No other patch before that. So, this could arrive sooner than you think.

3) Thorn will get buff. Monk's Breath of Heaven may scale based on HP. Good news!

4) Augmenting item is in the making. Perhaps increase stat, change stat or even add stat... ok, old news...

5) More use of Demonic Essence in the future.

Speculation:

- More events, that require variety of skills:
"...maybe we can create a gameplay experience that has a lot of variety to it, so in a single ten minute play session, you’d have need for single target skills as well as AoE skills. So we’re looking into that."


- Item 2.0 is now known as Loot 2.0. Look like not as big as initial speculated. IAS, CC, CDMG still important. But focus more giving higher quality and less drops. With the name, it suggest that it is the "drop" that they focus more on, instead of more game changing item. But, Travis may answer differently if he is in the interview.. hehe

Vota = Vault of the Ancient in Act 2. Full of Elites. This is how I farm for DE in Vota: Kill 8 Elites, got 6 DE.

If you like mobility, get LS skorn with Dex. If you like dual wield get weapon with socket, LS, crit damage and hopefully Dex. If you like to tank, get LS on both weapons. Otherwise stack up EHP for single LS. Most high DPS look for Echoing Fury.

Go to option, select Monster power.

i used a stop watch in my phone, did 1 round VOTA each in MP7,8,9 and 10...

my result:

MP7: 6min 21sec
MP8: 6min 20sec
MP9: 8min 43sec
MP10: 8min 57sec

You know how VOTA is, sometimes more E, sometimes less E... so... result is not really accurate... dont meant to be accurate anyway...

Then, for the fun of it, I drop 10k DPS, rerun... "surprise"!!!

MP7: 6min 47sec
MP8: 6min 12sec
MP9: 7min 33sec
MP10: 9min 53sec

Conclusion to myself: MP8 is better than MP7 for me. 10k more DPS is negligible.

LOL! really? may be i should benchmark 10min, see how many Ghom I can kill and how many DE...

10 mins later... killed 9 Ghom, got 2 DE... but only tested in MP8... easy... but not much fun

On another unrelated note, Druin, the Happy monk, clear MP10 100% (kill even white mobs) in just 7min 33 secs...

I shall try this run too... will record a video... (oh no! more video!!!)

- 392k EHP is a little low even for dual wield. i reckon 500k EHP as min in MP10.

- 416 resist all is a bit on the low side. Most monk has more than 500, and lean towards 600 resist.

- Ring, Gloves and amulet (at least has armor) has crazy high DPS... but sadly, no resist...

If you can get something like 9xx WKL with LS (beeezzz!!!) your DPS could further improve by at least 10k...

If you use EF, try to get at least 2.4 average IAS. With that attack speed, you get continuous attack even when mobs in fear running away...

Nice sword... but won't pay beeezzz for it... heck, i wont pay beezz for anything hehehe sorry...

In term of skill, try drop Guardian Path since the additional dodge will not help you in lava, poison, rd, etc... which is always bad for monks... Try use NDE or Beacon of YTar.

For BOH, use Blazing Wrath for additional 15% attacks, the additional healing does not scale very well with high HP.

With BoY passive, use Serenity Ascension rune. 4 seconds of invulnerability, cool down of 16 seconds, you only need to survive 10 seconds before the next Serenity.

Inspired by Druin in clearing VOTA MP10 in 7min 33sec... I test myself on this... result

MP10 VOTA all clear (including mobs) 12min 50sec...

LS only gain you life after the damage. So, if you have not enough EHP, you die...

LoH / LPSS works during Hit or when spirit is used

Life regen works before attacks...

If got enough gold, dual LS is the way to go... allow u to play like barb

If not, need to kite a bit or increase EHP to 550k or more... I have been with 3% LS and 620k EHP... can continuously attack RD in and bell them non-stop... look E with RD and Extra Health at 2 minutes:
