Recently, met a one seller selling singapore scrap car, and he told me paperwork can be done ahem ahem by JPJ.

I was wondering if JPJ ahem ahem settle the car and give out road tax and etc? is it still safe to drive? in Malaysia???

safety wise... no issue... as long as the car chassis is in proper condition...

legal wise... u already say ahem ahem... since when ahem ahem is legal? and if u get caught... ull prolly have to face even worse charges like bribery etc etc... but truth be told, likelihood of getting caught is pretty low...

What's the purpose of doing this? So that you can own something you can't afford legally? A friend once bought one. Ultimately, authorities came to his house & confiscate the car.

those that say 'can' because they want your buck.

but no it is not 'allowed'. There was a 'way' previously but authorities has been eyeing their operandi.

*you may ask why is it not allowed?

it has something to do with protection on the local market + several reasons. Many SG cars are generally quite 'low mileage in a way'. The SG LTA made sure cars over a certain number of years are....well, not worth while to keep, just $$$. (while there are those who still wanna keep certain classics)

For track car its legal. For personal use illegal. They can only know by checking ur chassis. How do they do that? They got informer. Almost 90 percent of those scrap car seller are from kastam. They sell the car to u, then in few months ur car kena tarik from kastam and u wondering who made the report. Welll, usually the seller will report to kastam abt ur car because they will get 10% of lelong price everytime they inform. So they untung twice lo by selling u the car and by tarik the car. Many cases dy.

i have meet a lot of car buyer who sell the singapore car. very tempting, like 2010 honda jazz just rm10k, mitsubishi evo can get around rm70k, others like bmw 525, etc2.

however, most of them said can make it legal as they now "someone" in Kastam, JPJ.

i wonder, lets say after after 2-3 years, the "someone" get caught, will it effect on the buyer car?

Imagine the honda jazz only 10k. And you use it for 3 years. The depreciation only 3k per year. Good buy. Why not?

Haha, really got someone would believe our BN government will lower down the car price after they retain the government status!! Lower car price is totally impossible, wait for the GST to be implemented and when you buy a new car, you have to pay another 7% of GST, when fill up petrol also need to pay GST, this is so called "janji ditepati"!! I helped you, you help me, I have given you a few times of BR1M, now it is the pay back time! doh.gif

it possible, but using BN way, which is dirtier.
a car price consist of the manufacturer price + tax by gomen (which is kaw2 high).

so bn ways is to reduce the manufacturer price, so how?
the manufacturer will reduce the no of parts, accessory, etc2.
my friends working at Perodua, they even reduce the no of spot weld, using lesser material quantity just to reduce the price of the car, btw, perodua not reduce it by giving the money, but they cover it by giving 3 years service + parts.

the main points is, the gomen still forked up the high tax kaw2. in the end, we the consumer will get less for what we pay for the car we want.

If it gets confiscated, it's your car. Of course the seller has your money by then .

I suppose it's pretty ok for track car, as long it is not seen on the road.

Mind you, polis & JPJ are 'online' shared info (if I'm not mistaken)

Sometimes they hang out at Sunway industrial area. (Ronda-Ronda) My friends car was stopped for routine check. His was legit car, he took his brothers car to sent for service in that area as his brother was outstation.

Just tapping onto their on board system, they can see the details & who's car it is registered /make.

Since his was a actual legit car, they let him go.

As I said, track cars weren't supposed to be driven on public roads. I think leaving it on track is perfectly fine.

Driving a scrap car on road is totally illegal. These cars had been involved in accident in Singapore and is condemned. The insurance company already paid the owner so this car already consider total lost. They make the car back and sell as scrap car in Malaysia. Even the seller will tell u that is meant for track use or spare part purpose. Usually people will buy the car for transferring all the spare parts to their existing Malaysian vehicle. Most important the car body must be Malaysia car. Inside all the parts can be scraped. Correct me if I'm wrong.

100% legally is impossible since you are not allowed to import car from Singapore

You can enter your car into JPJ system + get grant printed but will cost you a bomb and car not 100% legal
Best case?? Buy legit Malaysia car unless you intend to use the car as track car

hi, this is going to be my opinion.
yes u may buy Singapore scrap car, I have seen some selling them with cloned number plates and even road tax sticker, all this for a fraction of the cost of the car. BUT, if u think sensibly, its not worth the risk, why I say so? INSURANCE. its going to be a big deal when u involve in any kind of accidents

Lately i saw this FB page called ScrapCar Singapore. Tempting. Example: 2008 BMW 320i for Rm 7800.

Our Bolehland used car dealers sell the same car for RM38-43K.
Imagine. RM 7k and a BMW is yours.

Not that i am going to buy. But it created a curiosity.
If one were to just drive without changing the SG plates and drive in Malaysia for lobg term isnt it almost the same risk as cloning a Malaysian plate. And how is JPJ gonna know if this SG car is a scrap car or just a Singaporean visiting Malaysia.

Im sure someone is willing to take risks. Otherwise why there is a supply & demand for these cars.

(Please dont flame me. Im just curious )

Not sure about west Malaysia, but here in east Malaysia, that certainly not possible lol U cant use Singapore plate number here, sure kena block haha I met one and asked him why the car so damn cheap, he say its not legal, they take fake number plate and road tax sticker from west Malaysia and use it here. and rarely caught. yes its cheap, but the risk is high, not worth it. unless of course, u drive off road or kampung road where there is little police patrol. but, if u buy expensive looking car on those road, who is gonna notice? and I said.. insurance is another big problem

True, with 7k the bmw is yours. However it all boil down your logic. When u drive that car out, will you be restless and always at your edge due to fear of being stopped by police/JPJ patrol, or road blocks? Worry of accident? U do know that if u do get caught, u may end up in court don’t you? Not to mention your 7k gone, car impounded. Forgot to mention, accident, touch wood. No insurance coverage, an accident means u may end up getting caught driving illegal car or even get sued by other party. So if your logic says “I’m fine with those risk” then u are good to go and buy your dream scrap car lol.

1. No road tax as this car is deregistered liao and no insurance. JPJ just need to ask for road tax at roadblocks. Also, you langgar anyone how?

2. Do you have Singapore license? If not, polis will definitely suspect something amiss during road block. Msia license holder driving Sin car will raise red flag.

3. The demand for such cars can come from workshops looking for spare parts, or change whole engine/chassis and then illegally make it legal.

4. Avoid buying durians when driving that car. Sure kena ketuk kawkaw.

Lol if police found out the car is stolen and you are drinving it. Prepare to go court if you have proof

Otherwise go enjoy massage in jail. They will say you are one of the thieves that stole the car

LOL obviously you never enter track. That is for sure 100%

Track car doesn't mean race car. track car means a car which is trailers from home to sepang, run a few laps on sepang track, then trailer back home. no race involved.
