Hi all, my Satria Neo 2006 also have engine overheat problem. Sorry I don't have a screenshot of the temperature. I was at the Causeway, engine idling, when suddenly the engine failure. The engine temp shot up to around 120 deg cel. There was also the red oil and battery icons on the display. I switch off the engine and restart the engine. I could travel a very short distance before engine failure again. Then I switch off the engine and waited a few minutes. The engine temp drop and I could drive normally again.

Does anyone have this similar problem? What could be the cause of the problem and the solutions?

Please help thanks a lot.

Rainer

these are cases that i experienced/heard regarding temp rise.

1. gen2 s4ph campro vanilla.
temp shoot up.
culprit, radiator spoilt.
solution, change radiator.

2. myvi k3ve.
temp shoot up
a. culprit, dislodged radiator/water hose.
solution, tighten hose.
b. culprit, almost no-flow in radiator, milo/teh tarik emulsion in radiator & sparetank.
solution, re-skimmed head.

other thing to check if ur head gasket blown or not.

remove the radiator cap, start engine, let it idle until fully warm up.

if u noticed teh tarik bubble at radiator filling point, most probably head gasket blown.

or check dipstick if got water+oil contamination. usually creamy/choc colour.

An update. I've done a top overhaul on the engine, replaced the thermostat, replaced the radiator hoses with silicon hoses, replaced the radiator+engine pipe (manifold?). The only thing not replaced is the actual radiator, nor the fan.

The issue still remains. On a hot day, if I drive fast, I can keep the AC running, but if I stop at a light, temp will go very high and I need to turn the AC off, then temp goes to normal. On a cold day, everything is fine. The fan works.

I'm thinking of getting an oil cooler installed. The Proton workshop people can't figure out why it happens. Doing a top overhaul btw, really improved my fuel economy!

the cheapest troubleshoot, try sending the radiator for service. might be clogged.
or if u can get other 2nd hand cheap radiator replaced.
other than that, might be the fan motor weak already. try compare side by side with another car.

You have done a lot, but why not the fan? Of the thing you explained, all pointed to 1 issue -> cooling/fan. Not moving, temp goes up. When moving, temp ok. You should also change workshop, I would've Fire them for asking me to do all that without solving the problem. How much have you paid?

I've experienced the same you like guys. Temp increases yesterday while I was idling at roadside waiting for my client to arrive. Off the engine and the fan still spinning strong. After an hour, check the water level. Water enough. Ignite the engine and drive until today still OK. Not sure what's the problem though. Mechanic checked radiator, hose, thermostat, fan and connector also no problem. Don't really understand what went wrong. First time like this. Sigh...

overheat may include

-Clogged radiator
-Fan sudah kong
-Radiator sudah kong, and cannot dissipate heat any longer.
-Fan relay switch not working
-Water pump not working
-SKIM HEAD! (HUGE NO NO)
-Thermostat kong

I think that should be it...
