Hi, I just took delivery of Inokom Hyundai i10 1.25 Kappa CVVT on 14 March 2013! Just wondering is there any other owner of this SOLID Award Winning car besides me?

Can I ask you the following questions?
1) What is your Model (eg. 1.1 OR 1.25 CVVT/year made/reg (eg mine's 2012 year made)?
2) How is your fuel consumption of your car?
3) Are you happy/satisfied with your car so far?
4) Any quality, reliability issues with your i10?
LASTLY:
5) Will you recommend this car to anyone (eg. families, friends, colleagues)?

LOOKING FORWARD TO HEAR FROM YOU!

PS. let me get the ball rolling:
1) i10 1.25 CVVT 2012/2013, White
2) 2nd fill up average RM50 good for 300km - RM0.17/km (but then this car's in Kah Bintang Yard for 12 months! According to the plastic wrapping sticker on the front seat: Manufactured March 2012! So the engine oil & lubes might dry up or hardened!
3) Happy with the car other than the HIGHISH FC! The car's VERY SOLID, Good soundproofing, Good ride and handling and lastly, Stable at speed up to 140km/h unlike my Sister's MYVI 1.5SE (A) - Bumpy if seat behind at speed above 100km/h! Oh! Ya! Autoworld's YS Khong tested this i10, TOP SPEED 170km/h and 0-100km/h in 12.2 secs! IMPRESSIVE for a 1248cc A-segment car!

4) Touch wood, NONE so far!
5) DEFINITELY and a RESOUNDING YES!!! 3x better than MYVI and Viva! Even NST CBT 3 car comparo between i10 1.1 (OLD ENGINE), Myvi 1.3 and Saga FLX = verdict/winner: Hyundai i10 1.1 (Old Timing belt engine - note the 1.25 CVVT's Timing Chain driven)!!!

They liked it so much that they voted this car 2009, 2010,2011 City Car of the Year (3 years in a row!), Also Car of the Year India 2008,

Why Hyundai i10?
Winner of over 40 awards worldwide including (in Malaysia):
Car of the year NST/Maybank 2009,2010 and 2011 Best City Car.
Car of the year India: 2008/09
Autocar ASEAN Awards 2010 best city car
Asian Auto Compact City Car of the year 2010
Asian Auto 1st in fuel economy awards 5.1l/100km
Asian Auto VCA 2009, Best People's car.
EURO NCAP 4 stars (Safest city car around)
Excellent front and rear headroom and legroom (see picture 6 and 7 above)

Despite only 1248cc CVVT, it generates 87 hp @ 6,000rpm with torque of 120Nm @ 4,000rpm. Matching nearest rival 1500cc power and torque.
Attached Image
Let's get the ball rolling!

UPDATE: Received a "LOGIC Update" letter. Apparently for ALL 1.25 CVVT made from 2011 to 2012. Did my ECU Update on 15 July during my 5000km service. It only takes 10 minutes. The result?

SMOOTHER - Linear Acceleration, more responsive acceleration, More POWER, 10% save fuel. Photo of the letter below: Attached Image

The i10 doesn't come with Temperature gauge. How to know your temperature rising?

1) Your aircond will suddenly blow hot air.
2) the Red/orange temperature warning light will lit up.
3) If 1&2 happens. Stop driving OR drive to your nearest Hyundai Service centre.

Why did you change from a Honda Civic FD2 to a Hyundai i10?

Is the i10 a second car or did you trade it in? Or financial reasons?

Saw some comments that this car's FC is a lot higher than most owners' expected. Any truth on that? Worth buying over Myvi?

I do like the leather seats offered in the Colourz Edition though.

To compare there are surely pros and cons, but as for the FC its really high, full city use 50-300km..quality is surely better than Myvi but Myvi has a bigger interior

An additional problem of i10 is their electrical steering, tends to have problem when they launch it first in 2008, don't know about the new batch, but there is always the 5-years warranty!!

Well and surely its parts are way more expensive than myvi, eg its headlamp 1 side around RM700 ori!!

DISCOVERED that Hyundai i10's DISABLED friendly (especially for Wheelchair bound passangers) car when I fetched my 92 yrs old Granny to Clinic...

In Hyundai i10, you "SIT naturally" and comfortably & transfer seamlessly from wheelchair to the seat), unlike normal car (where your Butt sinks on the seat). It's because it's higher-than-usual Seating position. This car seating position's JUST NICE. Think CRV or KENARI seating position. Also, it's ULTRA-WIDE 80 degree Door Openings... The boot swallowed a Collapsable Wheelchair JUST NICE.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

After driving the comfortable i10. I NOT used to my Waja seating position AND HUGE TURNING CIRCLE. Always wondering "WHY THE SEAT's SO LOW???" and "Why WAJA Cannot U-turn (need 3 point turn) while my i10 can?"

THANKS TO HIGHER-than-normal-car seat configuration and 4.75m turning circle (Waja's HUGE 5.6 man!).

YES and NO!

My i10 FC best and worst achieved LAST 30 days.

BEST: 15km/l OR RM0.125/km. RM30 => 240km. Return trip PJ to PD only 1/2 tank.
WORST: 8.6km/l or RM0.21/km. RM55 => 250km. 100% CITY (including 90 mins LDP Jam).

There you go!

Yes it is somewhat higher than most owners expected. Because the brochure states 17km/l. I normally only got around 12-13 km/l

But i do think that Hyundai/Inokom don't do things correct also. First, their service centre always use 10w-40 grade semi-syn engine oil by default (in my case). I think our i10 should use 5w-30 for better FC. Second, new i10 come fitted with Goodyear NCT 5 tyre. They should've used more ECO / low rolling resistance tyre.

Just my opinion

Hi Sir,

I’m the owner of Hyundai i10 1.25 Kappa, just sharing my bad experiences here with everyone.
I bought my car by April 2013, but just about 2 months, my car already got problem occurred.
My car got a non-stop sound, from time to time, just in front of the engine there.
Thus, I quickly brought my car to the Hyundai Service center, they said that this is the compressor issue.
And, advise me that will change and fix for me as soon as possible when the stock came in.
So, I waiting for the call, but one week and one week passing, it’s about 2 months passed.
Then, I go to the Hyundai service center again to ask for it again.
The friendly Hyundai service center officer noticed that I have been waiting for so long time, and advise me that will give me prompt call by the coming Monday (as that day is Saturday).
Very good on it, I received a call from the Hyundai service center during the weekend, and informed me to go for changing the compressor anytime.
Thus, I have made an appointment to fix my car.
Unfortunately, after fixed it, my car still got the same problem, this is very terrible.
The friendly officer told me that they have wrote a report to their HQ, and will called me back after 2 weeks later.
Thus, I wait for the call again.
Anyway, bad thing never stop, and my car got another problem again during the 2 weeks time.
I noticed that when my car break got sound, when I step on it, OMG, this is terrible!!!!!!
My car is just 5mths old only, already look like a 15 years old car with a lot of sound…….
This make me feel so sad and disappointed with Hyundai cars……. I swear if this can’t be fix, I will never come back to buy Hyundai car again!!!!!!!!!
And, will never recommend my family and friends for it…. But too bad, I have recommended my sister bought it before I met with this issue……
Help……. my car is so pity……. Just 5 months old only….

Type: Hyundai i10 Fans club (Malaysia).

Is this considered as the "Official LYN Hyundai i10 club"???? lols, didn't see any Hyundai/Inokom i10 car club here at LYN. I just want to have a place where i10 owners can share some thoughts. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

anyway, intro my ride here first.
1) Inokom i10 FL 1.25 (A) CVVT High Spec 2012 Ice Silver (front & rear logo changed to Hyundai thumbup.gif )
2) 12-14 km/l (but if 100% city drive, then 10-11 km/l)
3) have done 30k km on this car, so far very very satisfied with this car. at least i don't have any 'oppsss' feeling or regret feeling so far! rclxms.gif
4) the front suspension got rattle sound when going through non-deep uneven road like yellow lines or the water grooves normally found on multi-storey carpark's ramp. At first i thought its a normal sound. After 1 year, i went back to SC during a service, mentioned this problem to SC, then changed the yoke something, FOC cause still under warranty. no other problems so far rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
5) at the time that i bought, yes.

hi, need you guys opinions.
im getting my first car soon, as im in dilemma whether to get the new Myvi 1.3 SE or i10 1.25 Colourz edition.
so far I got my heart on this i10 for the handling and fuel wise. not liking the myvi handling as I felt like want to terbalik one + too much myvi otr nowadays tongue.gif
but myvi wins my hearts for its spaciousness,, I don't really care about the space just that I don't want to have a very small car like the viva/kancil.
not really into resale value as I think this car will pass to family later when back to Sabah and bought a new 4x4 there thumbup.gif just that I scare about the maintenance-costs too expensive and waiting period for a new spare part replacement. hope all sifus can help me icon_question.gif

Beside the factor of space and fuel issue. Space really is almost the same like viva for 4 ppl sitting iinside. The steadiness on high speed is really nice.. last time drive to johor.. if i m not looking the speedometers i really not realize i eredi in 140km something.. steering still tide.. Overalls my drive exp on i10 is better than myvi. On the almost same price range with myvi. I choose this. Depend on the pros and cons u like. No 100 percent perfect car.. only the most suit your need. Some conclusion fr a i10 owner colour for 2 month.

last time I go see in Hyundai showroom seri kembangan, yes I agree the width much smaller than myvi. but the length(leg room) quite okay and not really felt cramped inside,, which I think due to good head room(felt spacious). both front and rear passenger space not really tight for me (im 180cm). im going to use the car by myself and sometimes bring friends along,, so in terms of space is ok. the leather seat is another attraction for me,, and believe or not,, the "chimes" sound you got eg. when you forgot to turn off the fog lamp is actually nice!! really remind me of those k-dramas lol shakehead.gif

what about fuel issue? drink like water? one full tank around how long u can run? what is your current mileage? and already did first service? sorry for too much ques sweat.gif

last time I go see in Hyundai showroom seri kembangan, yes I agree the width much smaller than myvi. but the length(leg room) quite okay and not really felt cramped inside,, which I think due to good head room(felt spacious). both front and rear passenger space not really tight for me (im 180cm). im going to use the car by myself and sometimes bring friends along,, so in terms of space is ok. the leather seat is another attraction for me,, and believe or not,, the "chimes" sound you got eg. when you forgot to turn off the fog lamp is actually nice!! really remind me of those k-dramas lol  shakehead.gif

what about fuel issue? drink like water? one full tank around how long u can run? what is your current mileage? and already did first service? sorry for too much ques  sweat.gif

Ya is true.. i m 177cm. So still ok.. for space n fuel consumption there is still a lot cn improved.. i get 13km/l for ard 50 percent city drive.. best i archived is 15km/l.. not as good as advertised lik 17 18km/l. Anyways it is still reasonable cos the weight of car is 100kg more compare to the same segment car.. but this giv u steady cruise on high speed.. first service done.. wait for second next week..

genuine one is the paper type filter which need replacing every 20k km if according to service book. my i10 not yet change the air filter so i dunno how much the sc charging.

knn's is washable and reuseable for almost forever, claimed to be 1 million miles, using their re-oil kit selling at rm90 i think? then, it claim to be high flow and maintain good filtration, which means potential fuel save and power improve.

my concern is that, the above is just theories.. and some web says that the filtration is actually lower in order to give high air flow. somemore its quite expensive ... so i need to know other ppl's experience of knn filter on i10 before i really change..

btw, just to give you somemore ideas on improving FC... these are not those magic device method. magic device are just con ppl.

Using it at the moment. Been quite sometime i'm using this. Pickup is slightly better a bit (maybe that's me), less noisy when accelerating.

tick tick sound coming from engine compartment?

Almost closed to 10k km. Nope. Did my regular servicing last round which does not include changing of air filter yet but they next one will.

Side note, kinda hard to get for our model.

Normal servicing using Semi Synthetic is about Rm150 or so. Every 5k. Minor servicing will cost more - every 20k km (about RM5xx). Major will cost even more=40k km (RM8xx). If time correctly, servicing during promotion period is much more cheaper

Eh really..? I just went to service my i10 for 40k, major one. 20k and 40k are both major service, both costing more or less 500-600. If you get quoted for 800, be careful as the service dealer might be adding optional/recommended things up without informing you, so do check properly.

For a complete list of items for service and maintenance, you can check here (may not be up to date but useful):

Btw go for service on wednesdays, I notice quite a few service centers offering free labor on wednesday.

20k is minor as only few stuff are changed (can't recall the exact things they changed). 40k is major cause more stuff being changed. But the charges may vary due to some stuff may still can be used thus do not require it to be changed. Optional stuff as usual are removed. And also not to mention, during promotion period, usually servicing is way cheaper than usual.

P.S, i usually service at Hyundai SC Glenmarie (their labor charges is slightly more compare to those authorized one)

Owh yea kan, I remembered 40k also change spark plugs etc.

Btw I've read some.. err a lot of negative stuffs on i10 owners club on FB. I dunno if it's just me or they're just expecting too much from their cars sweat.gif Also lots of owners claiming SC charging way too much than necessary. There's this one person who paid RM1200 for a major service alone.

Anyway Lacus may I know if I change to spark plugs to iridium, would it void warranty? I don't plan to DIY, would probably ask authorized SC to do that. I'm also interested with K&N filter but dunno if it's worth it in the long run for the car.. It does seem worth the money though since no need to change filter anymore wink.gif

Well those that overcharged are authorized Service center. They tend to add everything into service without asking customer. As far as i know, our spark plug are not common size. Not sure if iridium has special size for our i10 (mine is facelift version, bought Jan 2012) Negative feedbacks are normal in the FB group since i'm there too. K&N filter is worthy, i have already changed mine and for me it's pretty worthy since i do not need to change it very often as my work requires me to travel alot.

Yup the spark plug's non-standard. Stock model for i10 1.25 (facelift 2011>) is Champion RER8YC. I did some researching & found some probable replacements: Denso iridium IXUH22i / VXUH22, NGK PLKR7A. No confirmation until I try first, also dunno about the gapping etc.. Owh ok haha so the FB page is normal that way.

Did you bought your K&N filter here on LYN? I got few quotes, quite pricey, probably since not easy to get here. Have you tried cleaning the filter..? I've been reading comments that cleaning up is really troublesome unlike K&N's claim that it's simple sweat.gif

Well if it's shorter i heard will cause starting issues. Mine bought from SG so it's way cheaper. Well cleaning requires one to get the K&N cleaning kit. Too bad no other washable aftermarket air filter like Redline :/

It's normal for modern engines to go tick tick tick when turned off. This is due to the engine is hot time, the alloy made engine and radiator expands, when you turn it off time it cools down and the alloy parts starts shrinking thus the producing the tick tick sound. Sometimes the air cond water from your car drips down after drive causing the tick tick sound. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with your car. smile.gif

Mine had a loud rattle from the engine bay. Upon inspection, i found that the original air filter box was kinda crappy because the metal clip securing the air filter was loose allowing the cover to rattle. I've got a CDA styled air filter lying around my house (previously from my old waja). So I i removed the i10 original air filter and replaced it with the CDA filter... problem solved and no more noisy i10. As a bonus, i get better acceleration and fuel economy. brows.gif icon_idea.gif

all the button works well except that the sound does not come out from the speaker. the foreman said that the speaker does not have any problem. might be the IC for the radio sound.

does anyone of you have faced this problem? where i can find the spare parts for the radio?

My i10 just reached 22,000km. Car recently overheated. Drove to nearest Hyundai Service centre E-kars, 222. The Friendly service advisor Joey's very helpful. She helped me claim warranty for Rusted Radiator, radiator hose which spread to Throttle body (needs changing). It's because the i10 using tap water for radiator.

Attached Image

Apparently, i10 needs 100% Coolant. Tap water will cause Rust. 2ndly, my i10 sat in Kah Bintang Yard for 11 months before registering. 2012 April registered 2013 Mar.

Hello Guys,

I have a question for you and I hope your expertise can help. My Wife has a 5yr old i10 1.1. Recently we encountered a problem. Her central locking is no longer working. Have to use key to manually lock the car doors. Even the remote button is not working. When you hit the brakes the doors do not auto lock as well. Any idea what could be the issue? Power window is still working. Much Appreciated smile.gif

My 1.25 full tank only run @ 280 / 300KM per 28 L, 100% city drive.

Highway sure nice mileage, how about 100% city drive mileage?
My car is having regular maintenance every 5000km, radiator confirmed using coolant.

Any other factors that might contribute to the low mileage?
My car is having very low mileage of 21,000km within 3 years time.

For your case, did you pump when it's at last bar or when it's blinking. Based on my observation, last bar can go average 25km before blinking. When blinking can go AT LEAST another 25 km. So your 280-300km can go further at LEAST 40 km. Full tank for i10 is 35 litres mah! Worldwide Averaged i10 1.25 CVVT Auto is 12.5km/l.

According to fuelly.

my radio seems not working. it does not produced any sound. and FYI, I just changes the radio a week ago.

all the button works well except that the sound does not come out from the speaker. the foreman said that the speaker does not have any problem. might be the IC for the radio sound.

does anyone of you have faced this problem? where i can find the spare parts for the radio?

with your radio and volume on, try click on the side mirror central lock ( placed on top of the power window controllers) see if this trick works. Coz mine had wiring issues and it was my temporary fix.

Lol I-10, seriously for a small car it's really a crazy FC car!!

I owned the 1.25 version and I'm only getting 10.6KM/L using ron95

Even MYVI or other same range of car might get better FC

Blessed New Year 2017. Just spent RM900 on My Hyundai I10. What I spent?

1) 45000km service RM326. Fully synthetic + RM30 cabin filter (changed outside)

2) 4 new Tyres. Dunlop SP SPORT J5. RM578.75. At SKC Tyres. 496+30 alignment +20 rubber valve + 6% GST.

Nice Tyres. 10% better FC felt immediately (2nd day).

does any one suggest me PLZ,
i came here for work 2yr and i do stay 20km far from office so for 2year go and come i want to buy one good and cheaper(as i wont stay longer i want to invest as much less as possible and personal car far better than daily book and waiting for taxi) please suggest me..
if i buy getz 2005 or i10 is it ok how much will it cost?? am not much think about FC my main aim is less maintenance i don`t want to face any trouble while using i mean regular repairs.

i do prefer from 1.0 to 1.6 .
i do prefer viva elite seems it looks prices high if compare only FC better than hudayi all other things are far lacking..

thanks in advance..!
