QUOTE(zachozoi @ Aug 14 2013, 05:09 PM) Good, go buy it. My non-Geek friend bought it and no complain, only complain the battery able to last for one day. Camera of course not as good as main-stream brand smartphones. |

saw a Oppo find 5 demo unit at a shop here in Bangkok just now.. quite nice.. but i read before that the Find 5 were said to be one of the best built android smartphone, i opt to disagree⦠its still feel like "china" phone.. holding it in hands and testing it, it doesn't feel like a premium device.. the display is over saturated i might say, something like the Samsung amoled screen, but a bit different.. the UI is a bit too cartoonish, not my cup of tea

QUOTE(MrMocha @ Aug 12 2013, 12:18 PM) tell me again which is the typical brand under around 1k that has a build like htc one? I could not agree more that Jiayu g4's built quality is very good and solid. I had this phone for like 1~2 weeks and sent it back for a 1:1 change perhaps. I don't know why it became super lame, even browsing picture in stock gallery would make it hang and restart. Maybe the unit that i got was defective so the new ones would be normal. Not trying to let u down but yes it happened to me.though i can confirm to you for Jiayu G4, the build quality feel is damn solid in hand. I played with it a few weeks ago. big batt capacity also. 3000mah which most user reports moderate usage last for almost 3 days. And yes, I'm gonna get it within these couple of months. been waiting for Turbo version. Reason for choosing Jiayu G4 -Turbo Version -Solid feeling of build quality -big Batt -under 5" screen -awesome spec -good firmware support -lots of custom ROM choices -dual sim -nice value vs price should be around RM830++ |

Thanks for the heads up.though i'm thinking whether if it gotta do with corrupted SD card or old ROM. Did you stored the photos in ext sd card? I also heard that changing sd card without getting the batt out 1st could potentially damages the sd. I'm waiting for the turbo version for this very reason, not that only because i hope the extra 1.5Ghz vs 1.2Ghz would somehow help multitask. but also for a new batch of the phone. Hopefully some of the Bugs been cleaned up. And the new Lewa OS 5. I wish they installed that latest version. I know it is wishfull thinking. Might need to flash it myself. Another step i'm waiting is for the official MIUI V5 for this jiayu g4. As we know, RedRice is MTK6589T and also dual sims. Its ROM can be the base for porting unofficial version. |

Nothing worked out well including the ROMs, it came with latest ROM and i tried to downgrade it into a stable ones, also did not work. I bet i got a defective unit which is bad. Goodluck for u bro, hope u'll get a nice one. No doubt the everything was perfect except for the crashing issues. It could last for 2 days with heavy usage, i'm impressed.though i'm thinking whether if it gotta do with corrupted SD card or old ROM. Did you stored the photos in ext sd card? Can we discuss whether a 1GB RAM phone is all we need instead of 2GB phone?
I know that more RAM the better. But let say the diff in price is more than rm200++. Will it be worth it? From a vid in youtube, it showed to us that a 1GB Ram phone will auto kill some of the background apps in order for latest apps to run. While the 2GB ram ain't killing anythg just yet. This raise a question of how many tabs can i open when i surf internet. As those will hogged the RAM and subsequently reload the page. What do you guys think? |

QUOTE(MrMocha @ Aug 18 2013, 12:11 AM) Can we discuss whether a 1GB RAM phone is all we need instead of 2GB phone? Killing the background app use processing power so with bigger ram size it means that the system doesn't have to kill the background apps and it should save some battery life. Also whenever you want to use that app the system have to restart the app which also use processor power. If you have a lot of apps installed running in the background, having more RAM might save the battery life - just a theory anyway.I know that more RAM the better. also lessen the chance of cascade errors hanging the machine quicky, most 1GB machines are running about 60-70% of 1GB RAM most of the time, i had a problem with viber once the viber data climb from 1mb to 500mb crippling my machine until i uninstalled it.
