Firstly, if there is no problems with your phone, dont even bother trying, they wont change it for you. They'll ask you go to back home and sleep.

Secondly, yes, 4.1.2 should have fixed it. but of course there are some people who still had their S3 motherboard went kaput. But only a few, compared to the hundreds that were going to SC for a change before the 4.1.2 update..

Thirdly, that picture doesnt tell a lot. If the technician says it's because of water problem, then maybe it is because of that. Is he so smart to diagnose the phone himself and to say what is wrong with the phone??? Compared to a qualified and trained technician hired by Samsung?(I believe a company like Samsung would always maintain quality in their staffs to ensure that they do their job properly and professionally, and is proven as many of our forumers here who had motherboards problem changed theirs with absolutely no problems, some even rooted their phones still managed to get it changed and some even got it changed within the same day itself!!!!)

and it's not an issue as them not being able to fix it, the phone still works, albeit in safe mode now. and the technicians said because it was water problem, meaning there was a user error and thus not covered by warranty and thus that is why they didnt fix his phone for him. How do you even repair a motherboard that has water in it other than to completely change a new motherboard?! I dont know, im not a technician for Samsung.

It looks a lot like a user error to me and he's trying to shift the blame to someone else in hopes he would get his phone fixed. But that's just me speculating, i dont know the true story, it could even be as he said it to be.

IF it is as he speculates it to be a software related problem, the most they can do for that is to wipe and completely reflash a fresh stock ROM for him.

Surely if he said he would have paid for the repairs, then he will most definitely get a different answer from them. It's not a matter of "why couldn't these guys fix it" They can fix it. It's just a matter of changing faulty parts. What is so unfixable about that?

PS: His is not a Sudden Death issue, so there is no obligation on Samsung to automatically change his motherboard. Sudden death means, the phone cant even be turned on anymore or can be turned on but can only access download/recovery mode(not sure about that). His is not. It is running but in safe mode.

and I would suggest him to go to another SC to get a 2nd diagnosis like how you do to get medical advices. If he gets a different answer or a solution, then he can proceed to lodge a complaint towards Samsung about their staffs being incompetent and what not. But what if he gets the same answer from a different SC? Is he going to then say Samsung cheats their customers by not honoring their warranty? Now, that would be a first for me as i've never heard of that happening before.

PPS: Look at the way Samsung replied, they even asked him to report that incident and they would investigate it. That part makes me gain more confidence rather than lose confidence knowing that Samsung would investigate that incident as to why that staff replied Mr. Edvin in such a way and whether it was on a logical basis or not.
