QUOTE(cactusjack @ Apr 5 2013, 01:37 PM) have anyone had problem with s3 charger? Find the Galaxy Charging app in the FP and install on your S3. Test with different chargers and cables. My problem same as yours, it's the cable problem. Now using ori charger with 3-year old HTC cable im charging my s3 using original charger and it charge really slow. it's like charge thru usb port. i try charge using my friend s2 charger, and charge really fast. 2-3 hour can full. is it my charger problem? if charge using other charger for example s2 charger, can if harm the battery? thx |

QUOTE(silentsunami @ Apr 8 2013, 10:52 AM) Anyone who bought first batch of S3 with potential brick motherboard can go change motherboard at Samsung service centre. Mine and my gf S3 had successfully changed the motherboard, just told them ur phone freeze constantly My wife and I using S3 from last year June and July. Is this considered first batch? Didn't encounter any freezing... yet. What other symptoms? Why S3 so many problems... charger and cable problem, motherboard problem, screen crack problem... |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Apr 9 2013, 09:34 AM) I believe girl83 will continue talk on battery, I seen girl83 talk on battery nearly every thread girl83 access. Different people different priority... priority on battery doesn't mean she has to use black & white phone... if someone mention about fine-tuning the camera image quality, would you recommend the person to use DSLR?BTW, an app draining 30-50% battery overnight is not normal, and should be up for discussion |

QUOTE(LordDenning @ Apr 10 2013, 10:13 PM) and anyway. the 4.1.2 update is supposed to fix the bug. So it doesnt matter if you have the old chip. but somehow if your phone did die on you anyway, go get it replaced at the SC and you will have a brand spanking new heart for your S3. Really? Stock 4.1.2 onwards have fixed this problem? What about custom ROM? Mine is insane chip and I'm planning to go change my mobo even though I haven't experienced any freezing. But looking at this, I don't have confidence with Samsung service center at all. I thought this is obviously mobo problem and they should change it? I think Samsung also deleted other people's comments from their FB page. ![]() |

QUOTE(LordDenning @ Apr 11 2013, 01:19 AM) What a long reply... true, we don't know both sides of the story. BUT, if someone has an insane chip, experienced no freezing, and is still within warranty, would it not be logical to try for a motherboard change? It's acknowledged that the SDS might strike anytime, and even with 4.1.2. |

Okay. Went to Samsung SC at One Utama this morning for information-gathering.
1) Samsung SC at LYP is closed for 3 weeks due to renovation, so Samsung SC One Utama will have heavier workload for now. 2) Freezing issue is very common for S3. 3) SOP for freezing is to reflash firmware (what they have is what we have, 4.1.2). Some users' issue is gone with reflashing. 4) If reflash firmware does not solve the issue, they will change the mobo. Quoted time is at least 3 days. After more digging, was told the actual changing of the mobo is only 3 hours, but need to take into account ordering mobo if no stock, other jobs' queue, etc. The guy at the next counter also picking up his S3 with changed mobo. The MILF after me with S3 had charging problems, was also told need to reflash firmware. She cannot accept her photos will be gone with reflashing, so I told her to buy a microSD at phone shops and ask the shop staff to copy out her pics. She complained about SME since her sister at SG faced the same issue and Samsung Singapore immediately replaced a battery for her ("I won't buy Samsung anymore" I am not encouraging people with insane chips to go change, this is just a sharing session. BTW, about the Toyota recall thing, I once read somewhere that if the total cost of lawsuit and payment to families of deceased > total cost for recall of product, they will recall This post has been edited by Dannyl: Apr 11 2013, 05:42 PM |

Summary so far:
1) SDS may be solved with new firmware 2) SDS may be solved with mobo change 3) Insane chip mobo may be replaced with another insane chip mobo 4) Insane chip may not necessarily cause problems (although those who reported it seems to be using S3 almost one year already) - not proven yet as it may strike anytime QUOTE(miloy2k @ Apr 11 2013, 06:41 PM) I am using insanse chip aka first batch of s3 maybe. So far no issue yet. Manufacturers only recall a model manufactured with certain parts. Just like a car manufacturer may recall a car model manufacturered within certain date range, or used certain part number.Plus not logic to recall a phone that have minor sds issues. Heck minority of sony xz kena hit by sds, should they recall it lol |
