Carbon support app & data backup without root required. I had try with my colleague no root S II, it working. Just a bit troublesome where you need connect to PC dunno for what. (authenticate?) It still backup to external SDcard at the end.

Ya, I dislike it also, I all the while using Titanium Backup, still the best for root user.

I use carbon for my colleague only as she don't want to root her phone.

2nd this, xperianZe was awesome.

Go open your Play Store, it will ask for gmail account, if don't have, register one by choosing new and then insert your credit card details in last step (Google Wallet) if you plan buy apps in future.

Next, explore the phone, certain area press and hold will bring up different option/menu - example the main launcher. Also clicking the 1st button (left side of your center button) will bring up sub menu for more options and etc for all apps.

Yaya... the best for unroot user now.

No idea on easier way, I only know is replace the .apk way but that was troublesome. Now I normally only change front (the main launcher) icon (custom launcher like Nova support), didn't bother on app drawer inside.

Edit: you need to open the .apk using 7-zip and re-save back after change, this way will remain the .apk no need re-compile. Don't use winrar, that person mention at that thread using winrar is troublesome and probably will fail.

Step ah:
- copy the .apk you want to change icon to desktop
- open the .apk file using 7-zip
- locate the store image file location, replace it by drag and drop the icon into it.
- close it and save it.
- put back to your phone by set correct permission, or make a flashable .zip and flash via CWM.

New version of XperianZe 0.9.6.5 (4.1.2) was extremely awesome.

Finally it change the much much better menu. Everything was pretty and solid!

Worth trying.

For better color render, use it with Perseus-alpha33 or siyah kernel v1.8.9

That natural color setting, even though mention proper calibrate, seems is, but maybe because of AMOLED issue, it look something not correct.

I try few second, then return back. Hehe

What I mean is stock kernel of S III got color banding issue, you will notice it with certain wallpaper, or the WALKMAN player album bottom part color.

At the moment, Siyah or perseus kernel solved this banding issue.

I not sure boeffla fixed it or not, cannot remember.

Anyway if you try the XperianZe 0.9.6.5 ROM, test it out without changing kernel first.

Check for the part I circle with yellow, (possible find some album that will turn below part to orange.



Or test out the wallpaper I attached, check the top cloud part. You will notice both part I mention did not render smoothly the color.

Remember it, then change kernel to Perseus-alpha33 or siyah, and check again. You will notice the color rendering much smoother than before.

You need to buy jkay deluxe at play store for those setting.

Never check, I not feeling over heat issue during browsing or gaming.

Try fresh install from beginning if cannot find root course.

No Android phone will ever display operator logo, actually no phone now will ever display operator logo.

Also it won't display 3G if they is no 3G coverage there, it will appear those icon if your place got that coverage.

They is no 3.5G naming for phone. After 3G was H and then H+. Latest was LTE but still in testing period at certain area only, and your phone don't have LTE support.

GPRS (G) -> EDGE (E) -> 3G -> HSDPA (H) -> HSDPA+ (H+) -> LTE

If your data network is off, sure it won't display any icon there. The name only appear at notification after you pulling down as mention by LordDenning.

Hand over your hand at top and pull down.

For those using XperianZe 0.9.6.5.1 ROM, I suggest stick with it own kernel as I find the bundle kernel give the most smoother experience than any custom kernel like Siyah or Perseus even though the custom kernel render slightly better on color.

For performance, I stick with it own bundle kernel.
