QUOTE(carniver @ Jul 18 2006, 11:29 PM) Just finished Vol.4 of the novel, it really is well done! I expected to have to spend a week to finish it, turns out I did it in one day, starving without the time for dinner. Read the chapter about the Tanabata festival. And you know why haruhi immediatly wants kyon to join her. It's thrilling and, at the same time, the plot related to life very well. We think we've had enough of something, turns out we treasure it more than anything else Best part is, having seen the anime didn't spoil any part of it. Remote island syndrome was badly spoiled for me. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(carniver @ Jul 23 2006, 04:32 AM) She's protrayed as the perfect lady in the novel, unlike the weirdo in the anime, so her victory makes sense. Kyon's sister wiping out competition was what surprised me. This poll has nothing to do with the novel. it's ased on animu characthers. Quite suprising, not one of my fave anime characther made the poll. and none of teh rozen Maiden's made it in that list. This post has been edited by linkinstreet: Jul 23 2006, 08:04 AM |

Some trivia on this series
- The mixed up episode was an ode by Tanigawa Nagaru to Sneakers magazine which premiered the series in the mag with Suzumiya Haruhi no Taikutsu instead of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, much to the amazement of Tanigawa-san - Kyon is the only member of the SOS-dan who called Haruhi using her first name. Interestingly, he called the other SOS-dan members using their family name, which might suggest that he was narrating an incident that happened to him a long time ago. - ![]() you can see the Drake Equation in the OP ![]() where: N is the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which we might expect to be able to communicate at any given time and R* is the rate of star formation in our galaxy fp is the fraction of those stars that have planets ne is average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets fl is the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life fi is the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent life fc is the fraction of the above that are willing and able to communicate L is the expected lifetime of such a civilization QUOTE The Drake equation (also known as the Green Bank equation or the Sagan equation) is a famous result in the speculative fields of xenobiology, astrosociobiology and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. This equation was devised by Dr. Frank Drake (a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz) in the 1960s in an attempt to estimate the number of extraterrestrial civilizations in our galaxy with which we might come in contact. The main purpose of the equation is to allow scientists to quantify the uncertainty of the factors which determine the number of extraterrestrial civilizations. In recent years, the Rare Earth hypothesis, which posits that conditions for intelligent life are quite rare in the universe, has been seen as a possible refutation of the equation. The Drake equation is closely related to the Fermi paradox. It was cited by Gene Roddenberry as supporting the multiplicity of starfaring civilizations shown in Star Trek, the television show he created. - During the film for Koi no Mikuru Densetsu, Asahina can really fire laser from her eye. other weird things that happen during the filming were :- >A talking cat >A taxi with a "Koi Kuruma" sign |
