Hey guys! Currently my dad is in the hunt for a new MPV for my mom brows.gif

(original post from my thread https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2848050, but i'm also looking for opinions from real Exora owners biggrin.gif)

His budget is anything below RM100K. Reason for MPV is because of
1. Practical (transport stuff, 7 passengers)
2. Since my mom is quite short, she would appreciate the slightly higher driving position of an MPV tongue.gif

My dad is considering between the Toyota Innova which cost RM100K, but after doing some research, I found that Proton Exora Bold CFE Premium cost RM80k and Proton Exora Prime which cost RM89k.

The top of the line Exora's are attractive because of all of the additional features such as leather seats, reverse camera etc.

My questions are,
1. What are the main differences between Bold CFE Premium and the Exora Prime?
2. How's the fuel consumption for the CFE engines (assuming both of the variants share the same FC since it's same engine)
3. I always hear lots of complaints about build quality issues for proton (for example dashboard rattling after a few years, plastics loose/broken, paint peeling).
Has Proton's quality improved with the Exora? (I don't fully believe these "problems" since mostly are made by Proton haters. )
( I want full honesty from true owners themselves wink.gif)

And these questions are only for those who has had experience with a Toyota Innova biggrin.gif
(Please answer ONLY if you have been in an Innova before)
4. How is performance and handling between these two cars?
(Since both are MPV, I don't expect much. Just wanna know which is better between these 2 cars)
5. How is the ride comfort when compared to Toyota Innova? (going over bumps on road, potholes etc)

Thanks in advance for your answers! tongue.gif

1) The difference is only on the accessory installed. Prime have in dash monitor and in head rest monitor for 2nd row passenger. Also a captain seat for the 2nd row instead of bench seat.
2) mine the lowest i ever get is 9.8L/100km . That is relax long distance driving. There is once I fuel up at Sg buloh esso for RM70 and next refueling is at Alor Star town. Average speed 140-150KMH. With 5 adult on board.
3) Honestly i have no problem with the built quality. No rattling sound from my dashboard like others claim. Mine is 15K on ODO, 8 Month old EB.  Just dont put too much expectation on it lah... smile.gif
4)  I've been in Innova. Its bumpy and drink fuel. nuff said. EB wayyyyy much better at handling. I've smoked innova with my EB b4 at Lekas hiway
5) refer above. smile.gif  rclxms.gif

thanks for all of your replies! thumbup.gif

judging by your fuel consumption, do you consider yourself a heavy foot on the accelerator? just curious sweat.gif

1. As padilopadilan mentioned, the differences I could see is only the Seating, the interior Shading and the Front & Headrest Monitors.... (which you can get it done cheaply outside... that too using better Brands... without cutting wires..) and the Fog light Chrome garnish

2. Around 9 to 9.5lt/100km

3. Owned Suzuki(7 yrs) - Nissan Sunny(4 yrs) - Kia Cerato(3 yrs) and then Exora CPS(1.5yrs). Noticed a lot of Improvement by Proton. Even when switching from CPS to CFE I could notice a lot of difference in terms of Sound Proofing, Painting etc...
Initial teething problems are been solved (my ride had a jerking issue which was resolved). Other than that no issues so far. Enjoying the ride.
Inbetween drives my Brother's 2lt Toyota Picnic also, but then also my choice is EB. We both went to Genting together but few places I had to wait for my Brother(who is having same driving experience as of mine) to join me rclxms.gif . My Brother also appreciated EB CFE.

I've Not driven a Innova so far.....

Hey everyone, I just test drive the Exora Bold CFE Premium today.

Coming from a first-gen Toyota Avanza, my overall first impressions of the Exora Bold CFE Premium are

Pros :
1. Car is super large in size and practicality
2. Engine feels powerful (lots of torque brows.gif)
3. Steering is very light and easy
4. Handling is very good for MPV of this size
5. Don't get any feeling at all when going over potholes
6. Easily can accelerate from 0-80km/h biggrin.gif

Cons :
1. Steering feels artificial and vague (somewhat the feeling as if you don't feel the tyres on the road laugh.gif)
2. I noticed some sounds of dashboard vibrating when accelerating around 20-40km/h (read from somewhere that this is normal though)
3. Signal sticks and the wiper sticks on the steering wheel don't really have the solid "click" sound and feeling
4. Same as point 3, but this time with the gear shifter

Another thing I noticed, the brakes are extremely responsive. Just stepping on it a little feels as if I'm stomping on the brakes. Not sure if it's a good or a bad thing though laugh.gif

I'd say, Proton has done a great job with the Exora Bold CFE variant though biggrin.gif

I've had the same question as you a few weeks ago when I was doing research on this car.

Of course hopefully some real owner here will directly give an answer to you thumbup.gif

Anyway just thought I'd give you a little bit of my 2 cents on what info I've gathered on my research.

Pros :
1. Very large space and extremely practical
2. Powerful for an MPV
3. Good handling for an MPV
4. Excellent value for money
5. Air-conditioning vents all over the car
6. Pretty comfortable ride (glides over potholes well)
7. Lots of great accessories available (reverse camera, leather seats etc)

I opened a thread for Exora Bold vs Toyota Innova awhile back. There's some helpful replies on there from actual owners, do check it out icon_rolleyes.gif

Main concern will be fc, power and seating capacity

She'll be using mainly for long travel or during makan angin climbing genting will be problem you think?

Cap wise, my sis, her hubby, their lil baby, my parent

Good review so far, most bad review regarding built quality

I'm in no position to tell you how the car really performs since I personally don't own an Exora Bold (yet) sweat.gif

From what I know, fuel consumption is mostly around the 8l/100km to 9.5l/100km range. Which compared to other MPVs of this size, it's slightly above average.

I've also read from a fellow forum member who owns the CFE variant that climbing genting is decent as the car has lots of torque and sufficient power even with 7 passengers in the car.

Like I've mentioned before, this is based on other owner's opinions that I've read before.

Since I've test drive the Exora Bold (CFE Premium variant) before, I can say that on first impression, Exora Bold's build quality is pretty average. Mostly hard plastics throughout the entire interior, though I do feel the faux leather on the steering wheel is a nice touch.

I'm not sure if I can say the same for long term usage when it comes to build quality. That, I will leave to the true owners to answer wink.gif

From what i can conclude after reading so many comments n posts about cfe Exora. FC is above average really. =)

Comfort should not be a problem. I've sat in a CPS Exora but not in CFE variant. Same fc as complained by my uncle for the CPS version, light footed around KL town still collect around 300+km per full tank as in RM80-90 Ron95. Good FC for highway around 500-600+km per full tank. That is only for 1.6 CPS version. Expect CFE to have 5-10% increase in FC compared to 1.6 version. =)

But overall comfort i would say best under 100k. Just talking about aircond vents is enough to tapao all MPVs under 100k. LOL.  thumbup.gif

My mom is very likely to go for Exora Bold now as it's pretty much one of the only large MPVs worth buying now under RM100k brows.gif

Buying a car is good. But constantly needs to visit the SC is most headache and time consuming process.. rclxub.gif

For example. Getting Exora CFE, full with feature and pack with power. Have large space and best aircond. But main problem u need to face, constantly go to SC to solve problem regarding Software problem. It's like using Android that is fast when its out from the box and then problems start to occur after used it for months later. Laggy issue, then Google came out new Software to rectify the problem but then again problems again. Infinite loop.. biggrin.gif hahha

Where else you get a lousy Avanza. Auto 4 gearbox. small engine that cant pull 7 people. Bumpy ride and not so big space with no rear aircond. But because of the car so less technology, It does not create any software problem. LOL...

Its like everything is so wrong here in our market. LOL. Buy this u have that. Buy that u have this. Everything u buy also will meet bad lemon.  laugh.gif  Money not ATM machine print yo ! lol.. mad.gif  tongue.gif

Hopefully by now Proton has rectified all of the problems and issues with their Exora. My dad's friend has a Exora Bold Premium, and according to him he's been using it for over 70,000km now and still no problems. Weekly travel from north to south thumbup.gif

Just a quick question, is the exora bold CFE considered as a car with good pickup speed?

Especially if compared with other MPV and common cars such as Vios or Camry

today my ride stalled while moving, the engine just died.
it's just about 1 year since it's out of the showroom. maybe my good luck had run out.

I can start the engine but idling is very much problematic and not possible to be driven properly.

it was sent to SC for checking. Lucky the insurance company covered the towing service.

Drove my dad's friend exora bold CFE again today for 20minutes.

I just noticed there's alot of odd noises in the car.

Lots of engine noise and tyre noise. Is it normal?

Also, I realised most of the dashboard rattle sound is coming from the passenger side SRS Airbag plastic panel. Perhaps laying some foam tape within the panel might help? laugh.gif
