Have you heard the Roadrunner United song? The one with Trivium, Ill Nino's Drummer, Killswitch Engage's Bassist and of course, King Freakin' Diamond himself?

The lyrics are sooooooooooo funny..... and the way he sings his high pitched parts....... DAMN funny!!!

The backing sounds ok to me, if not a little artificial-sounding. I'm not sure if it's heavy enough for the metalheads, so I'ill leave it to them. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Heh just download the metal ones... the Total Guitar's Nu-Metal and Heavy Metal tracks are pretty good imo, but they might not be your cup of tea.

i'm sorry to be such a burden, but i can't download just one song...
but anyway, my only criteria about a good backing track is : it leaves space for a guitar solo.
BTW, you have the wrong image of me ! I might not be a metal head, but i used to listen to Sepultura, Metallica, Downset and Pantera in a previous decade wink.gif And now, I'm listening to Limp Bizkit, Freak Kitchen, Queen of the stone age, and a little bit of Linkin Park. So I'm sure I "can" enjoy any kind of metal track... Anyway, it's for you guys to choose, not me laugh.gif

Hah... well I didn't know that... hardly surprising tho, I used to be a metalhead. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Btw, we never used the Metal Pants track before... actually we were supposed to use it for the 2nd Jam, but we opted for a classic rock track instead. My vote goes for Metal Pants. thumbup.gif

evo.com... you don't want to help us choose the backing track ? then you're not invited to the jam either tongue.gif

led zep ... we dropped metal pants because there is no space for solo guitars... it's too "full". i myself tried to do something on it, but there is no room for a constructed solo on top of it. Melody is too strong already ? I'd rather do anything BUT metal pants laugh.gif

Anyone wants to give an opinion about the available backing tracks ?

If that's the case, the backing tracks I submitted are pretty 'full' already. So... that leaves us with your backing. Any more backings, guys???

it's kinda boring if nobody gives his/her opinion on the tracks anyway... i'llkeep silent until ppl gets interested in our 3rd jam wink.gif

blacktrix, unfortunately we were not planning to do the next jam by 2007, but a bit earlier... wink.gif HAHAHAHA

led zep, the key is not the main issue... the scale, the melody, the rythm are really tricky. I can hear in my head the kind of solo that would go over that, but I'm very far from having that kind of velocity and to be fluent with those kind of "broken" scales. But I'm always in for a tough challenge. It's quite exciting actually... until I hear the back track C again and start crying blood from my ears... hehehe

Anyway the majority chooses and wins, somehow laugh.gif I leave you guys 12 more hours of "debates" (participants entries, backing tracks choices...) then we can split the teams and the slots between ourselves.

Well, an idea of what key it is in is a good place to start with. tongue.gif I think I'm gonna try modal soloing this time, though I'm really bad when it comes to modes. sad.gif

it's always complicated with you guys laugh.gif check out the first post of this thread.

everything is in the 1st post... so i guess we have to postpone the start of the jam until we all agree on the track ? sad.gif

plankton, yes, we can do two jams, or even more, we can split into 3 or 4 teams... i'd like to give a try to track C, just for the fun of it. I might be able to do a 10 seconds solo on that, max laugh.gif

Track B
start --> 0:06 : A1
0:24 --> : A2
0:43 --> : A3
1:01 --> : B1
1:19 --> : C1
1:43 --> : A4
2:01 --> : A5
2:19 --> end : A6

Track C
start --> 0:17 : A1
0:18 --> : B1
0:45 --> : A2
1:12 --> : C1
1:26 --> : B2
1:40 --> : A3
2:07 --> : D1
2:43 --> : C2
2:55 --> end : B3

the codes A, B, C or D correspond to different parts in the song (verse, chorus, break, etc...) .
the number after the letter is a simple increment, for each letter.

*** track B : audio quality of track B is quite poor... one can use up to two slots.

*** track C : some slots can be pretty short on track C, so anyone is welcome to take up more slots than only one !!
what do you think if we let all the slots "A" to one of our shredders ? All slots A would have the exact same "theme solo" and that'd give a great backbone to the track. Since it would requires a lethal technique to make anything sounds "right" at this spot, I'd rather let a "shredder" do it laugh.gif Who's up for it ?

haha oh my, i had the exact same idea as jemi!! to take up 2 slots and start, but since thats the case, if its possible, could i take the 2 slots on track C from 1.26 - 2.07? If there is however too many ppl participating, then i'll just take the A3 slot.

Metalhead... good luck !! you chose the hardest one notworthy.gif

Track C
start --> 0:17 : A1 - JEMI
0:18 --> : B1 - JEMI
0:45 --> : A2 - METALHEAD
1:12 --> : C1 - PIX
1:26 --> : B2 - ZEROLEET
1:40 --> : A3 - ZEROLEET
2:07 --> : D1
2:43 --> : C2
2:55 --> end : B3

I just fill in the slot C1... that'd be enough for me.
Once this track is filled up, other participants can just start a new track from scratch, no problem !

hey guys, i know i might be a bit late to introduce a new backing track, but this backing track may be long enough for everyone to participate!! its a 9min song, and its by one of my idols of guitar, non other than john petrucci himself. The song is from his solo album, suspended animation( i dont mean to promote him or anything but his stuff is simply fabulous) and the song is called Damage Control. Will post up the link when i upload it.

Plankton, i don't want to be a prick but your choice of slots is weird... B1 and C1 shall be taken together, not separately. C1 is a modal change and I feel like it's more interesting if the guy from B1 walk his way through C1 as well, since it is the highlight of the song... what do you say about taking either B1/C1 or A4/A5 ? of course, it's your choice in the end wink.gif

Jemi, with you, it all seems so freakin' obvious !!
there are some mistakes in your part, but I just don't care about them : you totally fit the style ! Steve Vai's pawnage wink.gif It's true Vai uses a lot of odd deep and a-rythmic metal rythms behind is weird guitar solos, but i wouldn't have thought about applying some Vai's stylish licks on this track...
Great job and 100% inspirationnal wink.gif

i havent tried with this track so i duno which part i want at the moment.

what key is it in anyways? i'm on light gauge strings now so i cant downtune properly. man, theres no string gauge more than 50s here in kuching!!! should have bought some before i came back.

metalhead, it sounds kinda out, dont u think so? u didnt do bad. its just that playing a solo right after jemi's would make anyone in this forum seem small.

jemi, how many tracks did u do? sounds like alot. what scale/key did u do it in? or was it pure 'ikut hati' thing? love the vai sound man!

Emm.. just heard your solo. It seems like you try to fit classical pattern or song that you learn into this track. I really believe that, song that you learn not in C. If you tune your guitar in standard E as me. you should not start your root at C#.

Tone: I think, should buy more gadget to find your tone make it more crunchy..yum..yum. It's sound so dull.

echobrainproject
Why worry about your light gauge? I already change to .010-.046. I did 2 track from start to 0.29 & 0.30 to 0.45 1 single track.

For this track I play in C. It's not 'Suka hati' thing, I'm not that good that can play instantly. For my self, i need to plan for that melody. So basically, I let the sound play in mind first before I transfer it. Some of its try & error, if the sound good... why not. laugh.gif

I think whoever ready with their solo can start record & post on the latest track, no need to queue.

Can we start the Track B at the same time?
