I am thinking to get into m4/3 for shooting macro. My hand felt really pain after holding my dslr for long time during shooting macro and i had some problem balancing the camera, not sure why. with a budget around 1.5k, can i get a body + lens that is capable of shooting macro?

Just show him what he can get for his budget and see if he likes it:

Olympus E-PL3 14-42mm single lens kit  RM 1,190.00
Meike FC100 Macro LED Ring Flash          RM 180.00
Macro Tubes For M43                                  RM 55.00
Flexible Tripod 3Kg (Gorillapod Knockoff)      RM 55.00

                                                                RM 1,480.00

You can also option to upgrade for Olympus E-PL3 14-42mm + 40-150mm twin lens kit for RM 1790.  You can also check out panasonic GF3/5 and maybe you want that 14mm pancake lens too from the twin kit sets.  Another option is Raynox instead of macro tubes.

Comparing the panasonic and olympus, which system is better? they are quite similar right?

Lazy to shoot raw, get the oly for its punchy ooc jpeg.. Epl3 kit flash is not too big either.. smile.gif
I've posted the comparisons between the two cameras earlier in the post.. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2731512/+200#

I am going to shoot raw because I know how powerful a raw file is tongue.gif how about the IQ? won't differ by a lot right? the sensor in the epl3 isn't the same as the epl5? yeah, the hot shoe would be a big advantage compared to gf5.

wanted to ask, is there any cheap and affordable fast primes in m4/3 system? for example in Canon there's the cheap 50mm and the same thing to Nikon.

I am asking this because this will be important if i want to change system since fast prime is a must for me.

if you need it for macro..get used body, 40-150 and a raynox. add a manual flash..total damage less than 1500.

can get what body for around that price?

Will the flash for canon (YongNuo 560) fits on and works with the OMD?

And what's the price for shutter release of OMD?

Better get the Fuji X series rather than this one.. It has better sensor and more lens too..  brows.gif

Of course the X-series will be better, but at least 2 times the price of the EOS M. sweat.gif

The suggested retail price for EM1 with no lens is above 4k. (in US - USD1399)
The suggested retail price for GX7 with 20mm is RM3,999. (USD999 now selling USD899)
The suggested retail price for EP5 without lens amd EVF is around RM3.9k also. (USD999)

You get more discount from shops. And yes, GX7 is significantly cheaper than EM1 and EP5.
*
wow it's so cheap compared to the ep5, and even better specced too. did the price of ep5 drop? i think i saw a website that sells it with 17mm around 5k before, now only around 4k.

No idea but EP5 is not selling well according to Olympus own mouth. That's expected based on the price and spec and I believe the price will have to drop. The 17mm, when compared to 12, 20, 25, 45 and 75 is just not that sharp.  sweat.gif
*
yeah lol, they really gone crazy on the pricing, people would rather get the em5 when it's a more "pro" body. I hate when a company slash the price of a product after knowing that it didn't sell well. this will really piss off the buyers of the first few batches.

Yah i was there also. The OMD kick 5D Mark II on the face. 3 of the visitors with FF failed to identify which photo was shoot with OMD comparing with 5D Mark II .
*
yeap yeap, micro 4/3s are really good in terms of IQ in good light.

too bad it's still lacking behind FF cameras in low-light high ISO.

still i really love the camera, you can do a lot of things in such small package. the em1 was even mroe awesome!

Chet the mc ask me to answer his question regarding the full frame and crop sensor photo but didnt give any free gift shakehead.gif  laugh.gif

In studio environment memang la cannot see the difference, try go outdoor and see sleep.gif
*
outdoor it is still quite good at low ISOs. there's still a limitation in terms of sensor size, but not everyone uses their cameras at high ISO all the time and the portability also makes the work easier, not to mention olympus's good JPEG.

haha the gift was a small OMD thingy i think, wanted to answer the question too but ended up another guy answered before me.

erm is actually hard to say like that...on lacking in low light high ISO setting
Olympus they ask me to turn off the noise filter and set the ISO up to 12500 and noise is still not visible yet..
well you can say bigger sensor has better noise control, DOF..etc...

but they challenge FF camera really impressed me and happy to see a small power house can do such an impressive thing, the final challenge picture really can see is much sharper than 5dm2...

only thing that hold me back is the price...RM 4500 for body only and then the whole set with battery grip and 12-40 lens near to RM8k...
*
hmm... the noise should be depends on a scene lighting. for example a high key scene would results a lot less noise than a low key scene. i am 100% sure that the 5D II would do better in low light. about sharpness, it's kinda hard to compare, the 5D has more megapixels and images will not be in the same size. is the file from Oly jpeg or raw?

if it's me i will get the em5 than the em1 since it's going really cheap now.
