Why they compare with 5dmk2 instead of 5dmk3? old tech vs new tech. plus not to mention mk2 auto focus is just...blahhh laugh.gif
*
can't say like that la, the sensor in mk2 is still very powerful sensor. of course autofocus will be slower, but it depends on lens i guess? micro 4/3 will focus quicker of course since the area of sensor is a lot smaller, the size of lens is smaller too. but dslr can track moving subjects (important in shooting sports) very quick and accurately while m4/3 can't.

it was 12-40. If they use 25mm F1.4 tapau kaw kaw the 5Dm2
*
is it JPEG or RAW? and what lens on the 5D m2? the 12-40 is the top line lens from olympus right? if the person on the 5D wasn't using top notch L lens, then it's unfair to compare. also is the setting from both cameras exactly the same (if both of them were JPEG, is the sharpening/contrast/colors adjustment the same)?

it not about AF speed, its the AF system! tongue.gif

I know, it's quite bad compared to newer cameras. but using the center AF shouldn't result that much difference.

not sure the 5dM2 lense but it was a high quality white lense.
*
hmm if it's the 70-200 f2.8 or IS I, then the sharpness will lose of course. these 2 lenses aren't famous for their sharpness (it's good, but not top of the line). if it's IS II, then it shouldn't lose.

still, it's hard to do any assumptions based on a quick test like that. a fair test would be placing 2 cameras using the same equivalent lenses capturing the same resolution chart and export the files in RAW without any editing at all.

There was a photo shoot. The model said she wanted to look at pictures. So she pointed at the photographer with the BIG WHITE 70-200 F2.8 and say I wanted to see that one. biggrin.gif

Size does matter to a girl.  tongue.gif

Will be selling my dslr gears away soon (already received offer, just waiting for COD).

Been eyeing fuji and m43 for a long time, but after a long consideration I think I will like m43 more.

for the body, i am torn between em5 and em10. the main reason i am considering the em5 is the weather sealing and 5axis stabilization. and for the em10, it's the cheaper price and more focusing points.

for the lens, i think i will go for the 12-40 f2.8 from oly, price should be around 3k ( or lesser? ). that lens has most of the things that I needed, weather sealing + f2.8 + good enough close focusing.

there are a few things that make me wonder, is the em10 and em5 differ a lot in terms of real world performance to justify the price difference? and how EVF works when used with flashes (with really dark exposure before flash fires). and how's contrast detection autofocus compared to phase detection autofocus? I read that oly has really quick autofocus but not that good in tracking? by tracking I don't mean to shot rapidly moving subjects (like football/basketball/car), but i would like to use the camera for moving human sometimes (let's say moving performers in concert), so is it good enough for that?

sorry for asking so much, hope all the sifus here can help me smile.gif

I saw a lot of Robin Wong.. no problem with concert.. maybe you can check out his blog...
BTW i saw some web telling EM10 + 45mm abt 3.3k

45mm f1.8 is a must to me... and the new 25mm as well... but not on priority as i already got the 12-40mm
*
oh ok, thanks smile.gif

was considering the em10 + 14-42 + 45 too, a lot cheaper compared to 12-40, but I not sure if I want to carry 2 lenses around.

your macro work look good... maybe can consider 60mm macro..

BTW what gear you using for macro?
extension tube?
*
thanks smile.gif that's one of the reason I am considering the 12-40. if I want to get fast lenses but still retain wide angle + macro, i need to get the 14-42 (cheapest wide lens), 45 (for lowlight), 60 (for macro + lowlight), and this combo would costs more than a 12-40.

hmm i uses 3 lenses for them, 50mm reversed handheld most of the time, 100mm L for some pictures only since it was belong to my friend and tamron 70-200 for bigger bugs/subjects.

I think the 12-40mm on EM-10 might feel a bit off balance. Lens big and heavy on a small body.
Just my thought, not sure how it looks and feels for you as I don't have that lens or camera.

EM-5 is nice size for me, but once I add on a flash on top when photographing events or weddings, it's heavy on top because of flash, and I think a grip will improve the handling of the camera. I haven't buy a grip because of it's price, but planning to get one in the future. And also I don't know if I should get the Olympus battery grip or some cheaper grip from ebay.
*
hmm yeah I read this somewhere, but the IQ from 12-40 is really poison cry.gif

adding a grip would definitely help, too bad it's quite expensive right?

Anybody likes to join-buy EM1 + 12-40mm with me? I just want the lens, you keep body. I offer RM4000 to whoever wants the EM1 body.

You shd consider em5 or em1 for your macro if you're into it...
i bought jb design grip for em5 good as well but mind abt the shutter button and dial...
i sold it and get the ori grip much more comfortable cause the grip near to the dial and button...
hahah maybe i shd poison you more on em5 + 12-40  tongue.gif
quite surprise me as well... i tot is sony sensor..
*
why em5 over the em10? em1 is over my budget.

reviews say that adding a grip improves the handling of em5 by a lot? and how much is the 3rd party grip and oly grip?

haha welcome on the poison, i would like to know more about the camera before making my purchase to avoid the same mistake when I purchase my dslr last time.

other than the lower price point, the advantages of em10 over em5 are the new processor, higher resolution screen, more focus points only? and does the eyecup of the em5 too shallow? because it looks really small compared to regular dslr eyecup.

A very good review of the em10 in chinese (sorry for those who can't read chinese).

http://www.mobile01.com/newsdetail.php?id=14593

urgh dilemma between the newer technology of the em10 or the weather sealing of the em5.

the new 14-42 is really awesome lens too, small in size, but super sharp and offer 0.46 magnification without any add ons shocking.gif

using it now... yn603 required some mod cable bridge.. and yn560III no problem with Oly but of course in manual mode. smile.gif
*
what do you mean by the mod? because if it cant work on em1, then no point keeping it when i change to em1.
QUOTE(DarkEmotion88 @ Feb 25 2014, 11:21 AM)
yn560 iii works on hotshoe. still finding ways to get a wireless trigger to work on an oly. tired with slave mode all the time. oly flashes pulak so expensive  sad.gif
*
luckily the flash works haha. i have a 560II btw. how about other third party flash? i read somewhere that the YN 560II can do HSS as long as you have a HSS flash as main flash on hotshoe so i want to try that out.

Check on YL seems to be 300+ not as cheap as yongnuo. But at least you dont need mod and spent a bomb like other branded one.
*
is it a tranceiver like the yongnuo and can used as remote trigger too?

Heard ppl are snapping it up as many stores do not have stock.
*
wow that bag looks good biggrin.gif

the price in sg is abit steep though, hopefully it will be around 2.2k or something when it reaches malaysia.

one little question, does olympus include any camera bag with the purchase of their cameras?
