if you think you wont get what you expected from the new company then you better stay with your current company. and also must remember sometimes in career advancement you need to sacrifice a bit too...

There will be only one project in my company, this project is going to do alot of enhancement. It cover all the things in the travel industry. This is my consideration as well, coz I think that I will gain more knowledge when join different project. Hopefully I will gain more knowledge as well when change my roles if I stay in the current company. Give my boss one more chance |

HappyGuy, you know your boss better than the rest of us - if you think he's a trustworthy person, then why not give him a chance? after all, coming to KL isn't always good either. just give some time, if you think really cannot - then move on. |

Sometimes it's not the workload and responsibilities. When things turn out well, there's definitely a token of gratitute for some loyalty. It's not that the boss is b****y or what. So you play your part as an employee and see the progress of the company.
If you see the company is progressing well, then it's time to ask for an increment as mentioned. Else, it's up to you. If it's still doesn't meet your job satisfaction, then it's time to change job. |

QUOTE(HappyGuy @ Apr 6 2006, 01:02 PM) I am a software developer, I feel very bored coding everyday, that's why I choose to change my job. this is one of the reason i dun to be a programmerI have been offered a new job from another company. When I pass my resign letter to my boss, he urge me to stay at the company because company is really need experiece people to join the project. He promise will increase my salary, which is same as the new offer and will change my responsibility, let me involved in management things, deal with client and promote as team leader (lead another one member only) I am so confusing now. I dunno the condition of new company. The new job require to travel to kl city. Feel like not secured. Is it better stay at current company which is nearby and may be have good career, because this is quite new company. However, I worry end up will make me to quit the company in the few months later because I still cant get what I am expected. Hopefully, I dun want to find jobs again.. |

QUOTE(Austin123 @ Apr 6 2006, 09:53 PM) no wonder nowsadays malaysia is lack of programming talents... I am not agree with u. I am from IT line. At least I can see that, almost all of my friend study computer science work in IT field. I dont think they tend to escape from programming. For my case, I am not to escape from programming, I still like to programming, but not non-stop coding 9 hours * 5 days....It will be more interesting to join the full life cycle of software development instead of part of the phase.. Writing report everyday, testing everyday also will make someone feel bored.QUOTE(Ido @ Apr 6 2006, 05:21 PM) HappyGuy, I think you making a mistake.. trust the boss..Never do that..I'm sure your boss can give you increment but expectation will be higher on your performance. I think that working is build on the trust between you and the company, company trust you will contribute to their growt, and you believe that company will fullfill ur expectation. That's why you are employed and willing to join that company. Anyway, your words might be truth to some company, but not all. Thank you for ur advice..You now give one chance to you boss. Will he give you if he think you are no longer valueable to him. QUOTE(goldfries @ Apr 6 2006, 05:35 PM) higher roles usually comes higher pay and responsibilities. pay you for what? QUOTE(hazremi @ Apr 6 2006, 07:12 PM) when you're on a routine job - it gets boring. programming is more like 'stressing' compared to bored IMO. gila wan some times when you're rushing for deadline and the code just refuse to run and you're busy googling on how to make it go right. |

If you don't like what you are doing, you better leave. You wont be good and happy doing something you are not keen of.
I'm in the programming line and I find it challenging. You need to find something you are passionate about and do it. Sometimes I work 24 hours continously to get the job done. But I rather be tired than bored. So my advise if you are feeling bored, is to find another job/task that will make you so tired that you won't have time to feel bored |
