I am quite certain now i will be going for x100 instead of x100s. For the extra "s", i am paying extra 700+ which i rather save for accessories.

Just my 2 cents. smile.gif
*
did u take counted what has the "700" extra pay give you?

higher resolution evf, twice faster processor and better sensor (faster startup and better IQ), newer focus aid (contrast and peaking), hybrid af !!! drool.gif

i had tried both x100 and x100s... i will say x100s really do a lot better when comes to taking photo of fast movements or subjects... flex.gif

hi bro, i got a big question...

when we twist the aperture ring and shutter speed, will the camera show the effect straightly?

i feeling a bit weird as i need to fully press the shutter, meaning the photo is save already.... then only i can see the effect... really wish to sort this out ><

You mean in the case of exposure or depth of field? For the depth of field effect I can say that the EVF and electronic screen can show it accurate enough.

For exposure I would say that  it depends from time to time. Sometimes the preview will show it exactly like what you will get after you press the shutter button while some other time it will not.
*
i'm not sure... but how to turn it on... im a very newbie into this system...

for example, when i turning the aperture to a bigger number or a larger shutter speed, the lcd and evf display should be getting darker and darker right? but mine just wont change (same bright) until u fully press the shutter... u will only know when u see the final result. it is a bit driving me mad now sad.gif

That depends on the exposure meter, you know that horizantal meter on the Screen, above the shutter speed, aperture and ISO information. But you know what, I suggest you to just shoot in Aperture Priority mode. Set the Shutter Speed dial to auto, it makes shooting a lot more fun, well for me anyway. You need only to control the exposure dial and aperture ring that way.

When did this happen anyway? When you are shooting in daylight out in the open? Maybe just maybe you forgot to turn on(or off) the ND Filter.
*
i'm with XE1 + 35mm lens... i think i dont have the built in ND filter right?

what i mean is, my camera lcd and evf view wont kick in when i turning the aperture and shutter dial... only when i fully press the shutter only i can see the result... which mean, the lcd and evf is same bright when i kicking the aperture and shutter down, but the live view of evf and lcd wont dim.. until i snap the photo only i can see it is dark... icon_question.gif anything i can do on this?

***i had figure it out... instead of showing us the kicking down effect of shutter and aperture, XE1 gave it up and show us the depth of field (aperture that we selected) when we half press the shutter... the correct exposure will be rely on the small meter/histogram and bottom left... i really like fuji more and more thumbup.gif ***

You have made me re-consider my decision!  brows.gif

At this range, i might as well consider Olympus OM-D 5. What you guys think?  rclxub.gif
*
OMD wins Fuji X series with the breezing fast autofocus speed...
but it is still a micro 4/3 sensor which is relatively small compare to aspc on x100s/xe1/xpro1... perhaps, OMD will provide you a lineup of m43 lens available (not only from oly) without losing the AF function...

it is a very individual thought as i said... just make a wise choice and works on yr budget... smile.gif

if I plan to get the X-Pro 1 then I won't have enough cash, its about RM6k+ with a 35mm and the 55-200 will be at least another 1.5k or so? maybe I'll just keep my gear and get an X100/X100s smile.gif. i love the flexibility of a DSLR but its just too heavy. if i sell off my gear i can get close to the flexibility of a DSLR with the X-Pro 1.

I did consider Sony NEX series but i don't like the feel of it when i tested it out. the X-Pro 1 feels really nice in my hands and I really like it, which is why I'm considering selling off my gear for it smile.gif
*
i'm coming from Sony NEX... just want to share my thought with you and no hard feeling k...

i had owned an NEX7,NEX6,NEX5n previously and tried on all lenses except the recent 1018F4 and 35F18...

for lens/IQ, both is close if u don't zoom in/out at your desktop monitor... but once u zoom in, any fujinon lens killed every sony emount lens except the CZ24F18.. Fujinon 35F14 arguably par with the Zeiss 24F18...

viewfinder: the best part is fuji have the hybrid vf... but when comes to evf, fuji is slightly lag behind the sony when u move the camera fast although both are at same resolution... maybe the refresh rate? i'm not sure but it din really annoy me...

for performance purpose, Fuji is really good in lower light with high ISO... Sony recent sensor is great in low light but i would say Fuji handle low light is better... nonetheless, sony hybrid focus on its latest line up is really fast... XE1/Xpro1 lose on these... and Sony AF is much accurate overally...

for me, i love the vintage look of these camera... and it gives me a different experience of using a camera, is really big different with the NEX system especially u gain the full control on the camera without slowly entering to the menu and adjust...

functionality wise, NEX is much balance (you can't ignore when u r recording a video)... but i suggest don't be too fancy with the apps installing to the NEX.. it is not a smart phone or tablet... a lot of ppl got hang issue/firmware corrupted by keep install apps into that... it will even slowdown your camera when taking pic.,..

and not to forget, i choose Fuji is because is X-trans sensor... the way the camera render the image is just... i don't know what to say, it is something that NEX can't give me blush.gif

good luck in choosing yr next camera...

thanks a lot for the feedback, given me quite a bit to think about. I also like the interface on the X-Pro 1/X100 where I don't have to go into the menus to change settings and stuff. Besides that, I won't lie, I really love the look of the camera (I'm pretty sure most of the people who owns the X series feels the same). I will definitely take my time deciding, but hey, why fix something that's not broken right? tongue.gif. I'll just keep using my current setup for now, and who knows maybe Fuji will release the X-Pro 2 by the time i decide brows.gif  brows.gif

yup u r right... changing from NEX to fuji X-series really burn a big hole in my pocket recently (buy and sell cry.gif )

I totally agree with you. I didn't have the luxury of using all the nex lenses, but I can say that the Nex 7 with kit lens is crap. It's crappier than the Fuji x10. At first the 24MP seems impressive, but the lens is so bad that the actual resolution is lower than the x100 at just 12mp. And the color rendering is just magical in Fuji. There are so many pictures I don't have to pp at all. It's just perfect. And finally the three dial thing that the nex 7 had. It seems god at first, expect that it changes it's function depending on what mode you use and it's hardly as intuitive as the manual controls on the x100.
*
ya the dial on nex7 is better than nth but still not that useful compare to fuji dial (i mean they really placed it nicely and really hear from customer).

nex7 24mp for me is a bit too much... as far as i know, only zeiss 24F18 can fill the hunger of this pixel monster...

Sony did produce a lot of incredible body, but don't you think body > lens is an issue for a camera manufacturer? and rumoured NEX 9 claimed to be coming in this year and it is full frame... rclxub.gif

Sony did try to unseat Nikon and Canon in the DSLR market but as you can see now, they've gone back to what they do best. Sleak, trendy and hip stuff. They're creating again products that look great in ads and on paper. The whole NEX range clearly marketed to be the point and shoot for rich kids. With an ASP size sensor and modern technology, even if they didn't put in any effort into the sensor or lens, it will still produce good images good enough to get praise from pocketlint or Gizmondo. Furthermore, companies like Zeiss and Leica have already realized that they can't live on with super high price lenses that caters to a niche market. Those lenses will last forever and the company won't make money. So they've traded their reputation, starting with Sony/Zeiss partnership and now Leica/Panasonic partnership.
*
yup u got the point... their technology is there... so let's see how fuji rival them ! rclxms.gif
