Guys,

Maybe out of topic, would like to ask, if going to sipadan, which island got good resort and beaches? (Mabul, Kapalai, Pom Pom, Mataking)

Seems like the rate is quite expensive there thus would like to get the best option out of it.

Not going to dive cause my gf donno how to swim, thus optional for beaches, snorkeling, chilling.

Thanks in advance.

no diving, wanna beach and a good resort.... Mataking Island with permits to Sipadan island too. but not sure if they allow snorkelers for Sipadan... so plz check with them.

If Sipadan island s not a must, I will opt for Lankayan island thru Sandakan Sabah for a more private, romantic island trip.

Just mail and ask for Malaysian price... those prices on their site are meant for International! If not mistaken, about or slightly higher as compare to Kapalai / SWV.

There s no beach at kapalai... sand bank tongue.gif

Mabul s heaven for macro or underwater but way different on land rclxub.gif

There is option in term of resort at Pom Pom island, ie, Pom Pom island resort which is a full fledged resort. while 100m away is Celebes Beach Resort, a small resort with clean basic rooms but better diving team... from fren and my experience! While there is only 1 resort at Mataking island....

Island, beach, romantic and relaxation... i will opt for Mataking island.

Do not forget to visit the nearby islands... bohaydulang (permission s needed), Bohayan, Timba Timba, Matabuan....

Mataking Island - 2 islands 1 resort. Mataking besar s insight (the forest) where the resort s located, pix was taken from Mataking kecil...

Timba Timba island - uninhabited except a family s taking care the island. lively sealife and corals r just few meters from beach. Jumping off from the jetty is a must try here!!!

Panorama give good price for the room if you dive with them.
Diving with them is awesome!! they're a fun bunch.
this is from my experience last year (diving with them twice: May n Aug)
This year it seems like i don't know anyone except for their manager.

Anyways..room wise..they suck.
facilities and cleanliness: 1 star.
I heard from my dive buddies who dived with me, they stayed at Matahari instead.
I'm surprised they're not diving with Matahari though.

I found an awesome collection of scuba diving accident stories here: http://www.scubadiving.com/training/lessons-life

It's a good resource for understanding the dangers of the sport.
