Another mask to consider are the Mares "Sunrise" masks... which are created for the Asian market.

Guys, when booking with Air Asia, is there a difference whether you book "sports equipment" or "checked baggage"?

There was one on sale at the pet shop in Ikano. When you put your finger near it, it will rotate.. rotate.. rotate... and suddenly ram the glass. Damn ganas!

looking for Padi license in good deal.. we are from local uni.. and around 30 of us..any idea how to get low price for the license?
*
For a group that size, it's important that you find out how they plan to accommodate all of you.

Don't let price get in the way of receiving good instruction. Scuba diving has its risks, and the better trained you are in theory, skills, and wisdom... the better prepared you are for those risks.

There's a big list of dive shops (and non-shops) at the MIDE exhibitor list: http://www.mide.com.my/mideexpo/index.php?...&id=8&Itemid=22

I do not recommend that...

even if you are good or so-called born to be diver, it makes senses to have more dive experience before moving up the ladder...

just my 2 cents.

no point rushing through the certifications... find this rather dangerous in most cases when the diver is not well-prepared and certified (depending on who the dive instructor is teaching you and his level of 'leniency')  rclxub.gif
*
I did my AOW right after OW. My primary reason was economical: many dives incurred an "adventure dive" fee, so I might as well top up and a bit more for the certification.

Reflecting back, I think it's a good decision. I was comfortable in similar waters, keen to learn, and my dives were closely supervised by an instructor in a small group of 2 (instead of joining the bigger groups).

haha i think at OW's allowable depth dive tables are sufficient la... and also i'd like to put myself in relative deficiency to keep myself on my toes..need to 'feel' the tables, if you know what i mean. that way i can appreciate a dive comp when i get one. not to mention i haven't fully understood the concept of the RGBM.
*
That's commendable... but right how do you maintain awareness of your depth and bottom time?

well i guess its your leap of faith then. i'd rather know if my car runs on diesel or petrol to know its mileage and potential maintenance cost etc.,catch my drift?
algorithms are based on attempts to plot a graph based on the tens of thousands of dives made, using a conceptual basis. they all will try to conform to the data, but questions that come to mind would be, is the concept comparable to a real situation?and can the graph accurately predict dives not done before? i mean, 50+50 and 60+40 will get u a 100, but so does 200-100 and a 10x10.

we've come a long way since the Haldanean concept..but its still a relatively new area.so i'm not gonna blindly follow that deco profile until i know whats actually going on. and of course, these things should be done out of the water.when in water, stick to the planned time and depth limits.

just my opinion..this is what an obsessed diver does when he can't dive.lol

A lot of what we do in daily life is based on leap on faith wink.gif

There are still many unknowns in hyperbaric physiology and deco theory so if you have passion in studying them, by all means go for it.

Just be mindful of the bigger picture surrounding dive safety: http://www.alertdiver.com/Bubbles

Just tried the Atomic split fins in the pool.

They are very nice for doing a scissors kick with fast but small strokes. It feels as if the fins aren't there. The Hollis F2 definitely feels stiffer for this kick.

But my feet became sore really quickly. I think it's because the foot pocket is too tight.

Your feet cannot fit into your wife's fin! Haha.

I wasn't expecting this because they feel snug (not tight) when I put them on at home, but in water it's tight hmm.gif

I should be able to solve this by getting thinner neoprene socks/boots brows.gif

Viz in Miri is extremely bad today.. I think about 2 meters (couldn't see past the head of the diver in front of me). We called off the second dive because there wasn't any point continuing. It's a shame though, there seemed to be a lot of marine life there, just that it isn't a good day sad.gif

On the bright side, the clouds are parting now and weather looks like it will be nice for the beach smile.gif

Thanks juniorkirk for the torch... it helped a lot! I will definitely consider getting one for my next round of gear purchase...
