My instructor just filled up the part with his detail.  i just filled up my portion only. after that he said we need to post it ourselves.
just need to pay Rm1.40 for the stamp. (added RM4 for registered post/ RM80 for Pos Laju  shakehead.gif )
It will take about 2 weeks to reach there.

meanwhile, there is another form where we can donate certain amount(10 aud, 20 aud, 50 aud etc) in order to get special edition certified card  thumbup.gif
(can help up the marine life)  rclxms.gif
*
hmm.. still using paper form?

When I did my OW, the instructor just fill the form online, and upload the photos directly after I finish the course. Then I just need to wait 3-4 weeks until my card arrived at my home by post.

It's the same when I took AOW, (idk if they do online or paper, but should be online I guess), then few weeks later the card arrived at my post box.

btw can't they send it for you, but put the reply address to your address?? It's just a matter of writing the address right? it doesn't matter where you send it from.

quite weird.. are they lazy or want to economize the posting cost??

Yes thats me smile.gif

For short weekend dives, I usually go with a group to Pulau Seribu (1 1/2 hrs by speedboat from Jkt marina) or Pulau Sanghyang 2 hr drive + 45 mins speedboat ride. Both are easy day trips, and every weekend there would be  a group who goes.

For longer dives, been to Bali several times, Gili Islands, hope to do Bunaken, Weh this year, and Raja Ampat next.

Just a very simple report

Pulau Seribu and Sanghyang- easy access from Jakarta. Marine life so-so, occassional turtle, but nothing spectacular. Very crowded though due to being close enough for daytrip. Sometimes, any diving is better than none no matter how 'average'

Bali -Awesome place, always have fun there. Tulamben always good (and crowded) Nusa Penida is awesome for Mola2 season but extremely strong currents in certain places.

Any specific place u want more details or u want some contact info especially for Bali feel free to PM.

Cheers

around how much is the price for diving there in pulau seribu/ sanghyang? with equipment rental

Pulau Seribu

2 ways to go

1. With liveaboard (daytrip) usually leave Pluit Marina at 6am, arrive for first dive at 10am
- 3 dives in 1 day
IDR 1,100,000 (RM 355)
- Inclusive dive guide, meal, room (on liveaboard)
- Usually arrive back at the marina by 10pm so its a full day thing
- Only inclusive tanks/weights, sorry can't remember how much if full set rental equipment

2. Rent a speedboat
- I have some fellow divers who usually rent get 6-8 people and rent a  speedboat. Costs about IDR 700,000 (RM 225) for the whole day which is much cheaper. We can also do 3 dives in much less time, as with speedboat it only takes 1 1/2 hours to reach the dive site, vs 4 hours via large ferry
- Usually no equipment provided, except tanks/weights

Sanghyang

1. I usually go with a dive company, that organizes weekly trips there. Price per diver IDR 750,000 ( RM 240) inclusive transport to Anyer, speedboat. Only 2 dives due to distance from town. Much longer drive. Price not inclusive equipment except tank/weights.
If you plan to dive in Jakarta and want specific contact details, PM me.

Edited to include links

http://www.planetdivingindonesia.com/ - been with them on day trip to Sanghyang

http://www.putrikrakatoa.com/  - been with them several times on day trip to Pulau Seribu (Liveaboard)

Nice info, thanks

btw, what is the different in FB & LYN forum?  hmm.gif
bcos i saw alot discussion group in LYN and after having FB group then they start getting less active in LYN.  whistling.gif
*
because if discussing specific thing about our trip, it's better to discuss it in FB group of other means, as it's more structurized. And not filling the forum with small chit-chat which doesn't give information to other people that's not going

QUOTE(danial92 @ Apr 30 2013, 11:04 PM)
Hi there Everyone,

I'm planning to sign up for OWD class this mid June by doing the theory and confine water session in KL before moving towards to the island to conduct the open water sessions. Hence, I just want to ask should I purchase the necessary dive equipment for my course such as wetsuits, mask, fins, and snorkel? If so, how much will be the budget to invest the necessary the required dive wearings.

Thanks.

Regards,
Danial

*
You don't really need to buy anything for the course.. they can rent it out for you everything (usually it will already be included in the price)

After you are certified, and then have some more dive experience. Then you can decide which equipment you want to buy.

Personally I don't have wetsuit, mask or fins until now (but still newbie also, just starting last year). But I know someone even bought lots of things before they even started the open water course.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

But I'm afraid the wetsuits or mask that they provide might not fit towards my body and face, because my body size is kinda huge.

I think they should have very big size also. like for foreigner.. unless you have a very unusually bigger body than westerner..

It's a good resource for understanding the dangers of the sport.

Hi all,

I heard there was a recent diving fatality in Johor recently. Anyone heard anything? The source i heard it from was also from a second hand source, hence the lack of details. I searched MUW and Scubaboard but did not find anything.
*
i tried googling, and can only found this.. but it was on march.. is this the one?

erm.. he gonna just only gonna start learning diving.. so is it feasible for us to get the computer so soon?? and if diving watches any recommendations?
*
I think better to buy dive computer directly..

At first also i was thinking to buy dive watches.. So I bought it but I never use it when diving as it's not practical..

and dive comp is really important (from my point of view) especially if you want to do deep dive and multiple dives per day. So i bought the simplest dive comp which is zoop
