Introducing Xiaomi MIUI V5 (HD)

MIUI (pronounced "Me You I", a play on the common abbreviation of the words user interface as UI),[1] developed by Xiaomi Tech, is an aftermarket firmware for cell phones based on the open-source Android operating system.[2] Although some components like Patchrom are open-source, MIUI's kernel is closed source, and thus may be in breach of Linux kernel's GPL.[3][4] It features a heavily modified user interface that does away with the Android app drawer and has drawn comparisons with Apple's iOS and Samsung's TouchWiz UI.[5] The Custom ROM[6] includes additional functionality not found in stock Android, including toggles on the notification pull-down, new music, gallery, and camera apps, and an altered phone dialer that displays matching contacts as a user enters a number.[7]

I know MIUI due to the FM Radio, I even is one time gold member due to help them translate in between XDA and MIUI.

After that, the MIUI group is growing, no need any translator anymore. smile.gif

MIUI is great ROM, but since they out XiaoMi phone, the ROM development is slowing down, more pushing over phone now.

And I had use few weeks of XiaoMi Mi2, it is a great phone!

Last time, when I first got my HTC HD2, MIUI is always my choice.
After that, the maintainer stopped developing MIUI on our phone, and got tired of it, so I moved to CM.

great phone...beat xperia Z TFT screen more than 10 streets...only screen size lose to it, no LTE, no dust & water proof n no sdcard slot...

nice to hold, battery life is great...using it since after Raya till now, no hang or reboot b4...

I got bought the 3000mAH battery with cover from China for spare, not using it now...and 2 clear screen protector n 2 matte screen protector and some casings...still not using...u want can sell u

cos i felt that put on casing seem bulky, change 3000mAH will become more 1-2mm ticker n heavier...

now using without casing but protect with temper glass screen protector... thumbup.gif

hongmi vs G3T...G3T can COD tomorrow at Negeri Sembilan...need to take the train though.
not sure about this MTK6589T performance. Antutu seems ok can reach 16000. But also heard on the oveheating issue.

Anyway there's another seller offering Mi2S @rm800 wink.gif

FIRST XIAOMI SMARTPHONE IN SINGAPORE TO LAUNCH FEBRUARY 21 FOR SG$169
BY PANG TUN YAU , 8 HOURS AGO

Chinese smartphone makers Xiaomi, who recently announced its entry into the Singaporean market, has announced that it will launch the company’s first smartphone in the country on February 21. And, typical of the company, the Redmi (the name of the device) will retail at a rock-bottom SG$169 (about RM450).
The Redmi is a budget smartphone which debuted as the Hongmi in China late last year. It is powered by a Mediatek M6589T quad-core 1.5GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB on-board storage, which is expandable with microSD cards up to 32GB. The Redmi also sports a sharp 4.7-inch 720p IPS display (312ppi) and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2. Also, the Redmi features a 8MP rear camera that can record 1080p 30fps video, and a 1.3MP front-facing camera. Rounding up the specs sheet is a 2000mAh battery, and dual-SIM support.
Judging by the specs and price, it looks like the Xiaomi Redmi is likely to prove a hit down south, where its closest competitor, the Motorola Moto G, retails for SG$318.

Breaking: Xiaomi to Enter Malaysian Market in Two Months

http://www.lowyat.net/2014/02/breaking-xia...-in-two-months/

user posted image

As it turns out, the Xiaomi press conference from this morning also revealed the company’s vision with Malaysia. In an interview with HardwareZone Singapore, Xiaomi Global Vice President Hugo Barra has revealed that Malaysia has been selected as the next market in its global expansion, and will be expanding into the country “in the next two months”.

In addition, Barra also revealed that Xiaomi is planning to enter all markets in the Southeast Asian region, and it is currently studying where to set up operations in the region.

This should come as excellent news to Malaysians, especially considering Xiaomi’s portfolio of competitively-priced and compelling products. The Redmi, for example, offers just as much value for money as the Motorola Moto G; while the flagship Mi3 is touted as “the world’s fastest smartphone” with an Antutu benchmark score of over 36,000.

If that's the case wouldn't Singapore be cheaper?

Under current exchange rate, it will cost ~RM450.

Firstly.. Sorry ah! My office laptop no photoshop, which explains the super ugly cut paste job.

Anyway..

I was thinking of maybe you guys can root deep deep to the Singaporean culture by creating Singapore Pools theme for your #Redmi

1. The lock screen will be something simple just the big big Singapore Pools back ground.

2. Die die must have app: 4D LIVE and TOTO LIVE! (so we can simply unlock and beo the winning results without having to unlock the phone)

3. No need die must have app: POSB Ibanking cuz we sometimes need to transfer money to #xiaomingfromSGAG SGAG. (pun intended..)

4. No need die must have app part 2: Instagram la! Singaporeans standard one.. Before do anything must take peekture and post. Food la, Toliet la, Movie la etc etc.

5. Moving on to the main home screen. Background will be the 2 most epic wallpaper! 4D+TOTO, reason being we need to be reminded that we willl strike it rich someday too! Also, It would be awesome if you guys can somehow code the background so that we can actually shade and highlight the betting slip.

6. ONE MORE THING! You can also maybe implement SMRT/SBS theme too! Since SMRT Ltd brudder is/are our best mode of transport. With SMRT theme, we can be reminded that our public transport is da best in the world.

7. Sorry ah.. i lazy to 'create' SMRT theme.

8. LASTLY!! PICK ME LEH!! I ENTERED all your #Redmi #Giveaway.. and you no pick me.. sian.

Best,
Sawn Soh

[Updates + Visit] Xiaomi Walk-in Service @ The Central

http://en.miui.com/thread-15137-1-1.html

user posted image

Great news for for us Singaporean Xiaomi Fans!!

According to Hugo Barra's FB update, their walk-in service is now located @ The Central at Clark Quay
It is a very great news since tomorrow is the launch of REDMI, so having a walk-in service setup before the launch is makes everything perfect.
So Singaporeans, fear not! Xiaomi is ready now to serve us all fans in every shape and way happy.gif.

The store is still considered small, but after chatting with the friendly staffs over there. Fear not MIUI SG fans, they are well equipped to answer your questions. All staffs there are locals, so please do communicate with them in English if you ever call them up. As I've heard from them that many unhappy MIUI fans that couldn't order their Redmi called them up to answer, some spoke in Mandarin directly. No worries about unable to communicate with them.

And they indeed have an non-SG set there, if you request to take a look. (:
Didn't really take a look, for I want to keep it as a surprise for myself when I get my set.

Latest updated news (22/02 12:56pm):
Sorry for fans of MIUI, but the walk-in service will not have any MIUI accessories for now.
Will look out for anymore updates.

Sorry for the wrong information.

Also please note that REDMI would be sold only through Telcos and Xiaomi Singapore online site for now.

Any questions feel free to drop any questions here or here. And we will do our best to clarify your doubts. happy.gif
