QUOTE(pinksapphire @ Apr 4 2013, 07:44 PM) Hi guys...for OCBC's FD deal of 4.5% for 3 months, can you help me to verify if my calculation is correct? Interest is calculated on the number of days (not month).Let's say I put in RM50k into FD and as per their requirement, another RM25k into the savings: FD (50,000 x 4.5% / 12 months) x 3 months = 562.5 Savings (25,000 x 2.9% / 12 months) x 3 months = 181.25 Total = 743.75 for 3 months I took 2.9% as the savings interest rate as I think it's their latest. Also, what do you think of this deal? Is it worthy of deposit? I'm thinking to do so next week once my other FDs are matured, so appreciate your thoughts To get 2.9%, you need to deposit additional RM1000 or more into the SmartSavers account every month..... QUOTE(yrh0413 @ Apr 29 2013, 06:52 PM) Mind elaborating this? Sorry I am quite new in FD... I thought fresh funds = funds not deposited in the same bank? Some banks will deem the same amount withdraw = amount deposit to be non-fresh funds. So upon FD maturity if I cash out and put it back into the same bank as new FD application won't that be considered as fresh funds? Actually you can do in the same bank, Withdraw FD at 9:30am as cash Open FD + $xx cash/cheque at 10:30am. |

Just added some funds to the HLB Junior FD (12-month @ 3.85%, with roll-over 12-month @ 3.95%).
Withdraw cash at 26-Apr and "reinvest the same amount" today.... No issues. |

Those with Sukuk 1Malaysia would get their Capital in June 2013.... Maybe the banks are waiting for that to happen for new promotional FD rates.

QUOTE(pinksapphire @ May 7 2013, 03:45 PM) Somebody posted about the Kuwait Finance House FD promo at 3.88% earlier and says it requires CASA split, but actually it does not. It's a straightforward FD placement if you're interested in it. Minimum 20k...tenure 6/12/24 months. Con of KFH: Limited branches and you need to visit the bank twice (I think)The % is really high, but...I'm not familiar with this bank at all. |

QUOTE(gsc @ May 7 2013, 09:59 PM) Bonus saver is good only if you can withdraw from the smart saver when your FD is matured. If you continue to deposit into the Bonus saver, the money you deposited there earlier is stuck there and can only have an max. interest rate of 2.9% only. So basically I will close the SmartSavers Account on 1st of the subsequent month to maximise the SS's month-end interest. This is what happened to my SS now. My FD due on 5 May and 6 May is a public holiday, Ocbc credited back on the interest when I informed them. Current promotion is 3.55% for three months and 3.7% for 12 months for joint account. If my FD ends on 15-May, close everything on 1-Jun with FREE bank draft. |

QUOTE(mlyuki @ May 8 2013, 10:18 AM) OCBC homeloan is BLR-2.4%=4.2% Maybe it will be released after 1 day of the FD maturity, since it was "made-not-available" 1 day after FD placementI just checked my ocbc online.. my funds under bonus saver promo in SmartSaver acc still yet to make available, is that means I have to wait until next month only can transfer out this fund? |
