KFH Pg no longer give free parking. They claimed the parking management do not allow it. Not KFH disallowing it. So have been there few times to place FD and have to pay for the parking, anyway still OK at 50ct per half hour.  biggrin.gif

Also, BoomChaCha, what did you get from KFH after placing your FD there ??
*
Hu. sweat.gif . you even can trace back my old post few months back..really steady and biggrin.gif gao lat..

I did not place my FD with KFH last time because their system was down when I reached there.
But they promised to give me the FD effective date on that day if I passed them my banker's check
on the same day, but I could only pick up my FD cert until my banker's check was cleared.

Before I went to KFH, I called them first and tried to get better than 3.88% (promo rate at that time),
but they replied to me that their promo rate 3.88% was not negotiable.

Finally I placed my FD in another bank, I think it was UOB.

KFH promised to give me one gift, but I wouldn't know what it was since I did not place my FD there.
I guess maybe one umbrella...?

What gift did you get from KFH? Did you get better than their promo rate?

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Aug 16 2013, 01:22 PM)
Thanks. Yes, this is their second branch in Pg. I was told about a month ago. Anyway I am in the island itself and near to their current branch (which is kind of small). While there to place FD 2 weeks ago, my car battery die out on me and one of their staff went to a battery/tyre shop to help me while I waited inside their branch. Was rather thankful of that.

Wah...KFH treated you like a King..
Next time they will give you a Thai style body massage as KFH is expecting you to place more FDs with them..

You were so lucky, what if you suddenly have a dead battery in front of dolls' house?

Compound interest? blink.gif Takda kan?
*
Sorry I did not make it clear..

Compound interest: After 1 year FD is matured, can add earned interest into principle money (initial FD) and place for
second year of new FD, and etc..

Meanwhile, for 2 to 5 years FD, bank will only pay interest based on straight 2 to 5 years basis, no compound interest.

For example, let's assume 4.6 rate for 5 years:
1st year: RM 10K at 4.6% = RM 460
2nd year:RM 10K at 4.6% = RM 460
3rd year: RM 10K at 4.6% = RM 460
4th year: RM 10K at 4.6% = RM 460
5th year: RM 10K at 4.6% = RM 460

Total interest earned at the end of 5th year: RM 460 x 5 years = RM 2300 (approximately)

I just opened the FD and statement account last week. Thus didnot ask in detail will I get statement through email r post.
On line account opening need RM20 for the card. Since I am only interested in their FD and choose to open SA in the cheapest way.

Not sure about both statement and saving book. My experience with Public bank, HL, Am bank, all give passbook without any statement

Car battery normally can last in between 2 to 3 years, it depends on how often you use the car battery.
If you use power windows very often, use high power consumed car Hi-Fi, go out at night very often and etc..then your car
battery will not last long.

You can get a maintenance free battery so that you can see the light indicator on the battery to determine the
timing to change your battery. Or write down the date you replaced your battery on a small piece of paper and paste
it on your car battery.

What if your car battery is suddenly dead on the middle of the road during at night while some road warriors (mat rempit)
with weapons approach rich man like you..?? sweat.gif

If you hike in doll's house for a longer time, then you need to spend extra monies and efforts to dolls calculated on hourly basis... How to tahan oh..? biggrin.gif

put 1year or put 5 years, you still can earn compound interest. The only condition is you must get the interest paid out monthly. Take that interest and go put new FD. You dont earn compound interets only if the bank keep your interest and only pay you at maturity say at 1 year, this you will lose out. I always make sure i get a FD that pays me monthly interest. Either use your junior FD or senior FD, normal FD dont pay monthly.

You dont need the bank to add your interest into the principle to compound interest, you can invest it elsewhere or add it to your next new FD

Well, it depends if you are a he or a she biggrin.gif , also am I a he or a she (I may not be what I declare to be ha ha) tongue.gif

The KFH 3.98% FD rate is a std rate for Junior account, nothing great.

I was disappointed as that car battery did not show any sign before. It is even an imported one. doh.gif People will not rob me with my old car.

If go to dolls house, may not come out by myself, have to be put on stretchers, icon_question.gif ha ha ha

Yes..you are right. I omitted to include the monthly paid out interest from Bank Rakyat;
while MBSB only pays interest every 6 months for their 5 years FD.

Thanks so much for the guidance and correction..

Bank Negara is expected to maintain the overnight policy rate (OPR) for the rest of this year but a possible 25 to 50 basis points hike is anticipated for next year

Ha ha, BoomChaCha even can give advice on batteries other than FD rate. Knowledge wise, good. I am a technical guy and was ashamed of the battery dead on me so fast. Normally they will give signs like difficult to start in the morning as the first sign. But this one just dead on the express way (car ABS and other warning signs showed up) . But once battery starts to run, the alternator will be running and engine will continue to run. But I read the sign wrongly and was thinking something else was wrong and switched off the battery while arriving in KFH. doh.gif

Anyway thankful to KFH staff, this bad experience did not last too long. sweat.gif

Will be going there again on Monday to place more FD for the Junior account of 3.98%. Their normal FD account is paying 3.8% and promotion ends Sept, minimum 20k. thumbup.gif

Hi, bbgoat. Do you have any concern banking with KFH compared with other banks? As you know, it's not exactly like usual banks out there, still quite a peculiar one (to me, at least).

I have been hesitating on KFH though in the past they have been offering quite good rates for FD. Recently less straight FD promotion from the major banks. Then KFH is under PIDM that is the main factor that I used them. So long as under 250k, we are "safe" as the same in the other major banks. Their Junior FD account attracts me on the 3.98% offered. rclxms.gif

My OCBC 3 months FD (bundled with Smart Savers) has matured since yesterday, so tomorrow I have to
go to OCBC either to withdraw the matured FD, or to move the matured FD's fund into Smart Savers...

A very troublesome procedure for depositors to maintain 2.9% in Smart Savers, since cannot withdraw until the
1st day of the month... sad.gif

Putting matured FD into smart saver will get the most 2.9%. Might as well IBG out and use pesonal cheque to place this FD as fresh fund. You can open another new SS as joint account.
