CPF can be obtain once u get your PR in SG la. Since you already have plans to settle down here. There is no nid to worry about CPF since eventually you will become a PR and will have your own CPF savings.

Regarding the fresh grad thingy, I am not even grad la, holding STPM only and working in a factory drawing $1.6k+OT. staying in JB also manage to get PR. you just need to know when is the time to apply and u can get it easily.
*
I don't think i can get PR. the chances is way too low. and i also read some posts that ppl are actually avoiding CPF?

and my colleagues also told me that we can never withdraw our CPF 100%. guess that the money will go your kids in the future.

so what if i don't have kids?

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Apr 20 2013, 11:08 PM)
if you plan to buy a house in SG, you would definitely need the CPF. and employer is contributing 16% of your salary to your CPF account. so indirectly you are getting a 16% pay raise.
CPF can be use to pay your housing monthly installment in SG. Unlike Malaysia. Property interest is lower here as well.

for an example, you earn $3k per month, your Partner also $3k. The monthly amount that will go to your CPF account is $1080.

23% of your salary will go to your ordinary account which can be use to pay installment. Hence you will have $690. Your Partner also will have $690 in his CPF.

So if you buy a 400k HDB, monthly installment is around $1.6k for example. You only need to top up $220 monthly to pay for your housing installment.

Minus the amount you actually paying the rental now, You still save more money. So PR is a MUST if you really think of settling down.

Unless you are those type that want to save a chuck of $$ here then go back Msia do business, then you don't have to apply.

Regarding the other 2 accounts in CPF.

7% goes to Medisave which is for your medical expenses if you need it.

6% goes to your Special account for old age.

I have a S Pass, so I am eligible?

My employer is kind enough to gimme a S Pass because of my qualifications although am only paid $1.6k.

but $1.6k I can do what? like seriously? Buy a HDB in SG? Mission impossible I would say.

now I can only wait for the time to get promoted so that my pay can exceed $2k then only can get CPF right?

Hi xtylish
honestly, u r thinking too much at this moment.
tis is ur first job and u r a fresh graduate, ur salary will not remain as this forever.
as u progress in ur career, u will get better pay.
that is the path that every fresh graduate has to been thru.
if u r making a comparison with ppl with few yrs of experience, then u r trying to make ur life difficult.
try to learn as much as possible now, that is wat matter now smile.gif
tis is just my point of view...

Generally it is 1/2 month fee for 1 year contract, 1 month fee for 2 year contract.

If your office is around Bedok, stay in Bedok. There's two supermarkets, multiple food courts, shopping areas, a small mall full of restaurants, basically you won't need to go anywhere else during the weekdays.

True, fully agreed. Starbucks price really exorbitantly shocking.gif  shakehead.gif  sweat.gif  . Only go once a year when i got my year end bonus and just to have the 'feel'. Nothing special also.
OCBC also quite ok. Quite a number of ATMs. You could also get POSB together with your OCBC. Then do online transfer OCBC --> POSB.
deodorant masuk. Highest pay Malaysian banker in Sg.

@hokin

@Sean

Thanks for the insights guys, i'm a cooking kinda guy as when i lived in AUS i did alot of cooking it was just my way of life i don't think constant hawker food is healthy

I agree with the living like a foreign labor part, i'm coming here to SG for experience as well as to enjoy my life and coming home to a nice place at least is the bare minimum i need. So long as my room/toilet is clean i dont really mind the other area's of the place.

I've contacted a few agents fingers crossed i can get a condo at aljunid for 850.

I came up with a rough budget with my salary feed back would be great.

Rent/pub- $800-1k

Phone-$50

Transport -$60

food $20 p/day -$600 my thoughts here are i can eat fancy sometimes but just don't spend to much on other days to accommodate for the day i do spend a bit more on a meal out

leisure (activities/gym/shopping/etc):$400

Savings:$1k

Thoughts? I plan for it to be like that generally and adjust as i live and see how much i would spend
