Ppl have commented that halford is very nice as well and comfortable. I see many parents using halford and cosi. How old is your LO? maybe you can bring him around and let him sit and see which is comfortable.

I was lucky enough to inherit a baby car seat carrier (those basket type) from my sister. Sits until 6 months.. but on the way back from hospital cause lo head is so fragile and floppy neck, we held him only. Although dangerous, we held him for car trips for his first month. I think went out only 3 times all for doctors appointment.

We only got the Britax after that. Its comfortable and has a head support but still quite upright. At least 2 months plus when neck is stronger to use it. If you can.. see if you can get any infant carrier from relatives or friends first while you shop around fairs etc. scout pricing and safety.

Thanks for the suggestion and advise. I sometimes felt those carrier (basket type) is quite convenient to carry around when go out makan, if baby would to fall asleep. Mayb I can get a normal carrier first. Then slowly look around for the car seat. After all I doubt the baby able to seat on car seat on first few months also rite? They still look so fragile. unsure.gif

I am using sparco seats for my twins. It cost about 400+ per seat and they are very good. Don't really see the need for those cost more than 1000

My wife and I decided to get a Maxi Cosi Opal for our soon-to-be-born daughter smile.gif

One of the coolest car seats we've seen with the following advantages that I know of;

1. It can be back facing for newborns
2. It can be rotated 180 degrees for 1 year and above
3. Seat can be expanded for use as the child grows (Otherwise it'd be a smug fit)
4. The straps around the model are very secure
5. Long term use!

What is the main function of an ISOFIX car seat?

Is it for safety during collision? or is it just for convenience of fitting and removing the car seat?

I am dam confused because my initial plan was to buy a car seat with ISOFIX.
*
ISOFIX was invented because too many mummies and daddies couldn't get the carseat installed tightly enough with seat belt. Remember that it should NOT move more than an inch where the seatbelt is! If it moves more than an inch, it is NOT tight enough!

So ISOFIX was invented as a convenience, to give mommies and daddies TWO methods to choose from to get their carseat installed tight enough. Use isofix OR use seat belt, do NOT use both, unless your carseat manual says you can.

It's because they are so fragile that it's even more important to get the RIGHT carseat for them. You cannot put a newborn in a carseat designed for a 9 month old!

Please choose a car seat that specifically says it can be used from newborn. And follow the instructions of the carseat for use with the correct size.

For example, with the Combi Coccoro, when newborn, it has an insert, so the baby lies down just as if lying in your arms, but SO MUCH SAFER!user posted image

Make sure when you install the carseat, you also install at the correct angle. You can roll up towels or buy pool noodles from toys r us to put at the bottom front of the carseat to get the correct angle. From How to Use a Pool Noodle: user posted image

The correct angle is normally written on the car seat itself. You can see a line that tells you the line has to be the same as the ground.

Once baby is older, the seat can angle to sit up more towards the back of the car, but never angle to lie further back, because not safe. You also take out the newborn insert after a certain weight limit.

From Rear Facing Car Seat Myths Busted.

Once your baby is too heavy to rear-face according to the manual or there is only an inch left between your baby's head and the top of the carseat, you switch to face forward and when the top of the ears reach the top of the carseat while facing forward, THEN you have to buy another carseat.
