hi fellow detailers! im a newbee here, just joined in the detailing gang tongue.gif

I recently bought the Megs DA polisher, and its full detailing set. Did my first detailing session for my mom's kelisa with a polisher, claybar and compound for the first time! biggrin.gif But I have a few problems, hope all sifus can enlighten me blush.gif

here are my steps: wash dry -> claybar -> compound -> polish -> wax.
after I finished compound, I found some tiny scratches on my roof, not sure it was there before or not, but it shouldnt be there after applying compound right.

1. is it possible to scratch my car with my claybar? cause i used it to remove tar (megs remover didnt do the job). now that it contains tar, would the tar potentially scratch the paint?

2. is it possible to get scratches using the DA polisher? when I apply compound the process produce little "dust" like particles. is it normal? I wiped it off before polishing again. but would this get trapped in the polishing pad and scratch the paint?

3. Waxing, im using megs ULW, when Im cleaning the pad, i squeezed out plenty of product.. sweat.gif does it mean im using too much?

Anyway, in the end I managed to remove water marks and major scratches.. 3 hours hard work laugh.gif
Still worth my effort hehe

actually you should squeeze out during your session, not pouring it back in the bottle or something for next session lol. may have residue/contaminants that you'd rather not have, right? lol

haha.. its true biggrin.gif
but i highly doubt that ill use the DA to apply wax next time, just use an applicator.. haha..

Thanks KrisMas, the scratches are tiny and straight. and quite uniform, so i guess its caused by the dirty claybar.. looks not too deep. can i use swirl remover to deal with them?

What machine//pad//polish did you use? Was the surface of the paint smooth (clayed) before you started?
*
Megs G110V2/ Yellow 8xx series polishing pad/ Yes I clayed it, but I left it overnight.
The second day (detailing day) I only rinsed down with water.

Anyway, the swirls removing are no success using megs swirlx. The swirls too deep?
Pss.. geram,,

hi guys,

recently i just bought a new car and i want to get my car protected.

can you guys recommend me a decent protector or sealant to protect my car paint?
*
Ya better do it fast laugh.gif

share a story:

My friend brand new Mazda 3 dark silver, come with so called "Tribos Coating- Marine Technology";
the sales guy say cannot wax/ polish whatever in 3 years, cause the warranty for the coating is 3 years hmm.gif

recently found out the paint "POP" out at one spot, and when send back to Mazda they said it was caused by bird droppings. rclxub.gif
They even said need to inspect the cause, and if it is really caused by bird droppings, my friend have to pay the paint cost. sweat.gif sweat.gif
Its like the paint dissolved into the bird poo. and yeah, the other bird dropping spots leaves behind a hard stain after cleaning.

Now my mindset-> Mazda = extremely vulnerable to bird droppings LOL

I did 2-3 passes.. probably need more?

I was being sarcastic about the statement.

I missed out something la.. the paint was ok before send in mazda service center. After servicing my friend noticed the damage. When complain, they say it was factory manufacture defect. Haha, expected better reason la..

Anyway she tried to "peel" the "popped" area after driving home, but end up pulling the paint out. The scratch is so deep. She complained again the next day, then they say it was caused by bird poo. LOL.

now I'm thinking the must have dripped something on the paint that caused it, and try to avoid being responsible for the damage, and bully my friend. An innocent gal who believes the service center so much. Haha

Its one hell of a bird that poo so hard it happen to eat up the paint in such a short time. Haha.

ps just sharing, this is mazda jalan 222. And Mazda 3 happens to be my fav in that segment. smile.gif hehe

Eneos sells clay bar. Ace Hardware also sells clay bar, but I only see Meguiar's clay bar kit there. Eneos has Soft99's clay bars, both for dark metallic and light metallic as far as I remember. Brothers sell Soft99 clay bars as well, and it's slightly cheaper. But they're at Kelana Jaya, next to the Giant outlet.
*
Ya I also only saw Megs clay bar at Ace . Soft99 good? How bout other brand like 3M?

Not sure. I have only tried Soft99 clay bars before. All I can say is they do the job of getting stuck contaminants off the car. laugh.gif
*
Haha.. I guess all clay bars are similar.. ok will check them out.. thx bro

I think ULW=Ultimate Liquid Wax ....  right?

When krismas said liquid wax and paste wax, also mean spray wax which is in the form of liquid.

I think there are only 2 kind of waxes in the market isn't it? Unless you are talking about some other waxes, Brazilian wax etc ....  laugh.gif

I don't think spray wax is use for top up, at least I don't do that. But you can spray multiple layer lor...
*
Yea. its Ultimate Liquid Wax. yalo so its kinda confusing. Paste wax u rub it out of a container. ULW u squeeze out. haha..
So spray waxes work equally fine huh

Yesterday spent 5 hours cleaning and waxing my car, also coated the rims with SONAX rims coat.

Due to time constraint, have to separate the cleaning into 2 different sessions.

Learned something valuable, the liquid generated from PG clay bar, need to be remove immediately. It will stain your pain so bad, that it can only be removed by polishing.

Definitely sakit hati looking at the stain on my car body.

whoa, clay bar stains. thanks for the input.
