Is there anything that I should take note when detailing my car engine? My ride is a Toyota Vios. blush.gif

The material for my bumper should be those synthetic plastic fibre, not metal. The products suggested can be used on that surface?
*
should be no problem, but again i should remind that it is a cheap product that won't do a perfect job no matter what sweat.gif

I think modern engines should be fine.
*
modern engines are worse compared to old engines - almost zero electrical components.

we just need to cover the air intake, distributor and some wire/switches connectors and done. while modern engine got ECU, sensor switches/wiring, fuse box etc.

Understandable. My expectation is that just making it less glaring, and non visible from afar.
Seeing the product demonstration at their website, i do have high hope biggrin.gif.
*
i would honestly say, lose the high hope. their demo is con lan firm fake lol.
however the basic functionality of the product is there, and unlike their claims of "no need pro skills", you DO need damn good skills to do the base (color) coat else it'll still be obvious after the repair sweat.gif

What about leather seats?

Should I just use Meg APC or should I buy leather seat specific liquid?
*
i use meguiar's gold class rich leather for my headphone leather ear pads, so far so good la lol.

Damp cloth for normal cleaning...very very mild dilution of APC for dirt. Rinse then apply a reliable leather protectant. I'm using Megs Gold Class Aloe Cleaner & Conditioner (separate bottle) & Zaino. I like Zaino better cuz it's almost none greasy at all. If applied on clean leather, you would hardly noticed it's there.
*
shit poison again, considering on picking up the zaino since i mainly use it on earpads, and the megs, you kinda need to wait for it to dry and even so, the strong aloe scent will be there for at least a couple of days ><

ya but I tot most of the modern electrical parts/ sensitive parts are either waterproof / well covered..

did cleaned an old 1983 engine before and ended up with wet plugs;  sweat.gif
cause its not well covered.
*
wet plugs just get a wet vacuum or air blower can dy lorh.

electrical short circuit on the other hand sweat.gif

Here are some pictures of my engine.
*
Attached Image
the yellow part, consider spraying some lithium grease on it after all done/dry, that should be your throttle cable

Attached Image

Attached Image
that could be your wiper motor, not too crucial to wrap it, if it goes haywire due to water, it'll settle down in the couple hours/days.

Attached Image
same as pic 1, your throttle cable
for 2nd yellow, looks like your air intake. check if its directly connect into the fender, if yes no need to wrap it. else you will need to prevent any water from getting into your intake as you could kill your engine lol

Attached Image
that looks like the ecu, definitely need to wrap it if it is.

any one else with a vios do correct me if i'm wrong ya nod.gif

Not too much I believe, it is not that hard to wrap.

But after you clean it, then you'll be more than happy.
*
this.

alu foils make it very easy. however try to secure the wrapping better with maybe more length for firmer wraps. from my experience, loose wraps gets blown off easily by the PW XD

hi guys can i know where can i get megs product(since it is recommended here) with reasonable price in penang? is there any different between those cheapo MF cloth and those exp?
*
actually for cloth id recommend away from megs lol

their stupid supreme shine black version that came with ultimate liquid wax, use PW blast a bit, some some of the stitching can come off. then when i soak with my other cloths to wash, the dye transferred over to them. on the one hand id no longer have to worry about other stains because the other cloths are all dark/black ish now, on the other it's just annoying to see my white osren premium MF cloth become blue/dark blue :/

How big are they anyway? Is it tall enough to lift the car off the floor? laugh.gif
*
defo no, you'd need a jack stand/jack to lift the vehicle. even for workshop also same ma, the put a rubber block on their platforms.

this one isn't even a block, it's a piece of leather scrap/sheet.

Uh, don't get it. So after jacking up the car, I can place it under and it'll keep the car lifted?
*
i get it because my jack releases abruptly unlike the bigger (much more expensive) version at the workshops where they slowly twist the other direction for release.

what this happens is the car falls too fast and scrapes the chassis, paint/anti rust peeling.
so i get this rubber scrap to place on top of my jack/lifter, and the contact surface between jack/car is the rubber smile.gif
