May I make a suggestion. If you get the chance, do try Duragloss 253 Tire & Rubber dressing. Waterbased and, when applied sparringly, would give a very decent 'new rubber' matt/satin look, and quite durable too, not to mention also works on exterior plastics (ie. minimal runs after rain). This and the Zaino Z16 is my go-to on my GY F1 GSD5 where matt/satin look is much more prefered.

Thanks for the tip. wink.gif

wafak you even have those LOL!

umm how is the price vs performance ratio? i don't particularly need WOWO products since my rims are off my car and i have AMPLE of time/flexibility in applying product, so i am looking for something that lasts longer and i don't think WOWO is the answer.

what about
- gloss
- beading/water repellent (i guess surface friction/strength co efficient? this probably also determines how well brake dust shrugs off)
- application (ease of it? would you have to sacrifice microfiber cloths? i know some coating/sealant product will harden and thus rendering your MF cloth dead after application/buffing off)
- durability
- heat resistance coinsidering they are for rims
*
Interested to know your opinions for this as well, although I'm more of a time-saving guy (IMO, I'd prefer to reapply new rounds of product instead of lasting rounds on the car, at least it's new. As for time, you'd never know when you'll have less of it wink.gif

QUOTE(KrisMas @ May 31 2013, 03:41 PM)
- Well...first off....you need AT LEAST 2 layers to get a decent enough beading with ES, one layer would do with the other two.
- OS is a nice beader, ES is a good sheeter and ZCS is somewhere in-between.
- On my burgundy Waja, OS looks nicer, ES doesn't do much and ZCS is, again, somewhere in-between.
- Slickness OS -> ZCS -> ES
- Durability (by observing the beading and sheeting), ES -> ZCS -> OS
- Protection against water spots, contaminant, etc., same as above.
- Ease of application, about the same

I've only used OS & ES on wheels. Very easy to apply as you just wipe it on and leave it to cure, again, under the sun would be best. If use Megs APC to wash, one wash was all it needed to remove OS altogether; ES still got a little bit of life left. If use normal shampoo, I could put OS as lasting around 2 ~ 3 weeks and ES maybe another additional week or two. Again, I have to say, ES is NOT a beader so don't expect the rims to have nice beading, but it does sheet water better than OS.

Local Retail Price
ES - RM 77 - 8oz
OS - RM 125 - 8oz
ZCS - around RM 150 - 6oz

Value for money...well....go figure.... tongue.gif

But just FYI, I'm currently testing this on my Chery OEM wheels (which look curiously similar to Waja OEM.... tongue.gif ):

Sonax Xtreme Brilliant Shine Detailer

A few test by the guys in Europe shows that it's quite resilient to chemical cleaner. Though not as easy to apply as the three above but it's easy enough. And retailing at RM86 for 750ml, so far it looks very promising.

Thanks man, appreciate your thoughts. I'm leaning towards OS put the price is a huge setback - and in the US, Optimum us fairly priced amongst its competitors.

Also, new get:

Even more expensive huh?
Well, I just got my car and I'm looking to stock up once and for all the following month. Looking to wash my car by myself as much as possible and also do some detailing. I'll put Duragloss in the list.
*
How about Osren? You can get their stuff at Jalan Ipoh - I'm currently using only their Bubble and Wax shampoo, good bang for buck item IMO. Was previously using TW's F21 Car Shampoo, just loved the citrus scent though biggrin.gif

haha i'm still on f21, currently on their 2nd bottle ever since i started taking up detailing as my hobby laugh.gif (prior that, either months of no wash, or lol bangla)
still a long way to go on finishing them (and i still got a LOT of TW zip wash and wax, like 2 big bottles + 1 small one free, 1 of which i bought cuz on promotion, buy 1 free 1 smaller LOL) so yea, not looking forward to shampoos for a VERY long time.
http://twitpic.com/cj92ft

same goes for my polishing as my TW polish compound is still full ish as i rarely polish my car.
only TW wheel cleaner/paste wax finishing soon, so i can move on to megs WB/sonax WCE/APC combo  brows.gif

oh and for rims, tentatively aiming dodo irongloss sealant, pricing not too steep, and provides decent durability for at least 5-6 months biggrin.gif
*
Tesco Extra sells F21 car wash for cheaper, about RM28 or less the last time I was there. Ace goes for around RM32 I think? It was my first bottle since my foray into detailing as well so the scent has a bit of nostalgia laugh.gif

Currently on Osren's Bubble and Wax. Not bad stuff, about RM33 for 4 litres but you come out smelling like an apricot. Osren recommends a 1:50 dilution ratio, and mixed in with 4 litres of water, it's about 66 cents per wash biggrin.gif

eh the f21 im using still holds its suds even after im done car washing. merely just followed it's instructions and putting high pressured stream of water into the bucket.

still would be looking for an upgrade since it doesnt seem to clean as well as i like. or maybe, can use that + a bit of APC mix brows.gif

Gotta agree in this as well. Used it as a claying lube and it worked well, no problems smile.gif

First time using the clay cloth? There is some kind of layer that needs to be removed before it touches your paint. It is recommended to wash the clay cloth and then use it on your windscreen and windows first to get rid of the layer.
*
What's the difference between clay and those clay cloths, in terms of end-results and ease of usage? I'm currently using PG's clay smile.gif

Clay cloth works faster(as you don't have to keep folding the clay, just rinsing in your clay lube which is usually also the car wash solution would do), but more often than not, the clay cloth mars more then regular clay as it's more aggresive.

Generally, my recommendations is to use the clay cloth if you plan on at least polishing or using an AIO with mild abrasives, and regular clay if you're just waxing.

Speaking of exterior trim dressings and protectants, what's a good product to recommend? My car has a fair bit of black plastics as well, I just lay OCW on them but I think its time to lay some product which is more worthwhile smile.gif

That is a picture of?

My car is still water beading fine after 1 week since last wash and haze rain, not very uniform beads though probably due to 1 week of traffic dirt/film and haze rain
*
Plastic trim between the bonnet and the front windscreen.

Mine still strongly beads too, just now there's watermarks everywhere - on glass, plastics and a little on paint.

simply polishing can remove SG? lol (heyyyy maybe THAT is why you're discouraged to polish/wax after done SG LOL!)
*
SG's a glass coating - IMO, no amount of IPA will remove it off. Just perform compounding or polish and it should come off, but there's no way to tell though. Although its glass pretty much any LSP stays on it.

SG on the rims is good stuff, makes cleaning much easier and it beads a fair bit.

if that's how SG beads, i mean, seriously? that's your promo picture? even TW beads prettier than that  doh.gif
*
Marketed to the laymen, that's how it works lol. But no denying that it keeps dirt from not sticking onto the rim surface.

Glass coats aren't only used on cars, they can be used on almost everything for protection - medical apparatuses, buildings, even plants. Can be applied or sprayed depending on the application.
