Hi,

I wanted to buy a mountain bike but not sure what size to buy. I am 6'1" tall so I suppose I shoud go for a 20"frame size?

I prefer folding type so it can easily fit in my car so I am considering the Hummer but I am open to other brand.

Budget less than RM1k to 2k max.

Any recommendation?

Thanks guys. I am not really going for mountain biking with jumps etc. I am too old for that kind of risk. Basically what I want is to go cycling with friends with some offroad like pebble road or dirt road with some pot-holes etc.

I read the Hummer or Montague is a full size MTB that can really go offroad as the folding mechanism is different from those road foldies. It might suit my needs but they are too many chinese fake around so trying to get a "real"one might be a challenge.

The other reasons I need folding type is because I need it to fit my trunk so I can drive to meet my friends as my area is not suitable for cycling.

real montague is should be no less than 3K , beside the frame it can fold the spec only worth 1.5k +/-, rear bike rack from RM150

I don't like bike rack. The sometimes cause nasty scratch and dents on the car

u might want to consider this... but the seller want to sell frame only...

Montague Paratrooper Folding MTB

I contacted him but he is not sure if it is original Montague as his friend bought it from HK. Might be a china knockoff asking for RM1350 just for the frame only.

Seasucker la. I know many will argue on how reliable the thing is - but you gotta know, it's cheaper than a thule roof rack for sure, and you can transfer from 1 vehicle to another, and scratchless... question is - do you trust it? Its used for military applications and you guys should watch them videos end user posted on Youtube. It's crazy strong! Just that most people would think that you know, physically pasang on the roof feel safer rather than to use Seasucker

I am not regular biking so I really don't want to mount anything on my car. I just want a bike that can go in the boot.

Thanks. I have call them and they are having a promo now. The Montague Paratrooper is selling Rm2888 now and the Paratrooper Pro is selling RM3500. I am not ready to spend so much on a bicycle now as I hardly use it. Just want it LOL.

Yeng no use leh if rider is lousy...

If the bike is some steel frame rigid fork with V-brakes and threaded stem, the rider powderful like gila = Like this baru yeng.

But if the bike is yeng and the rider is yeng = GODLY

If i cannot beat them in the race, at least I lose in Style by having the most "yeng" bike!!!

I am just going for casual ride like a little bit of orrfroad...nothing like serious downhill or jumps. That is why I did look at those carbon handle bar. It definitely is no good for those hardcore but riding around parks should be ok i thing.

Small small things like clothes or saddle pads or some tools I will order from taobao... Those critical parts for bike i will just get from here... my life cost more than the savings. Better be save than sorry later coming downhill.

I disagree. China market are hundred times the size of ours. They have much better product than we do and more variety. You just have to know where to look for it. Most of the goods sold in our local bicycle shops are from china anyway.

spotted! ride around taman biker or should i say poser tongue.gif
like that, save your money and just a get a section of PVC from your local hardware shop. they can cut it to any length you like and even drill out more holes to save some more weight. Personally i think a bit of copper pipe is classier as it oxidises it turns a cool shade of green.

Anyway, thanks for the advise. I will stay away from carbon handle to be on the safe side.

Anyway, being a Taman biker, I still can choose any bike I want and any price I can afford, not just the color.
