Sent to repair. Customer service agree that images are blurry at the edges and front camera flickering. Let's see how the repair goes!

Phone ready for collection. They say it's only software problem! Will collect later and test again. Wonder if they flash it with Amber in tongue.gif

Just came back from Nokia care centre. No Amber.

They just did "reinstall software" and clean the lens, which obviously doesn't solve the problem. Took a few outdoor shots and allowed the customer service girl to try herself, to which she agreed the edges are blurred badly. The front camera flicker still persist.

Sent for second repair. Nokia Care centre updated me telling me that those problems are normal. The purple hue and camera images blur at the edges. How do I convince them that it is indeed worse than expected? The blurring is really unbearable.

More images: Normal or screwed up lens?

Doesn't look normal. Seriously. shakehead.gif Maybe you should show them how the actual _normal_ pictures look.

No other Lumia 720 users around me to test...can't use iphone/samsung galaxy camera... but hey, maybe i should anyway!

I e-mailed them a few sample pics, and this time they agreed to change the camera. Let's see how it goes!

EDIT: Then the front camera... they say they compared with Lumia 920, 920 also got the same problem, purple hue and flickering, so apparently the problem is there, no rectify. wah lao.

Can replace at Nokia Care for free where I did get it replace once.
But now im not free and just because an accidental drop it cracked.

if no sign of it being dropped (obvious dent/crack), tell Nokia Care that the mic suddenly stopped working, ask them to check/replace. thumbup.gif

Guys,

I really like Lumia 720. But i cant decide between 720 and 625?

I kept asking myself, do i really need a good camera in exchange of a bigger screen size and LTE phone??

I really like big screen like 625 because of better internet browsing experience.

Does 720 photo quality is very noticable compared to 625?

Argh, sometimes i just want to give up and take 520 instead and save money for something else.

Hope u guys can help me
*
Personally use 720, and compared with 625 demo unit. 625 has same resolution but bigger screen. Hence, images and texts appear to be less sharp.

3G is enough for casual browsing. Battery drain fast enough in 3G, so with 4G probably not worth it.

Photo quality, i compare between 720 and 520. 625 camera would be around the same as 520. 720's 6.7 MP is considerably sharper and nicer than 520. Of course, it is not really noticeable when viewing using the phone screen, but in 625's bigger screen, it might.

If i were you, i'd still go for 720 due to the price difference. Plus, 720 has HD front camera. biggrin.gif Plus, the budget is just nice.

Do test it for yourself in Nokia stores.

Thanks you.

The main reason why i like a big screen phone is because my hands are huge (but im not overweight lol), i was a Samsung Corby 2 user before it died and it is so small compared to my my hands. And now it's dead and this time i should get a bigger phone! Was considering L620 but the phone is small too.

I played with 720 the one whole day last week and i really like it a lot.

Good design, great display (outstanding black and white and contrast), and very fast.

However, i havent play with 625 or 520 yet, maybe i need to go to phone shop to make a decision.

The 520 can claim RM200 rebate at Celcom for RM350 (very tempting offer)

These are the price comparison

L520 - RM450 or RM350 after rebate
L625 - RM780
L720 - RM800

hmm.gif

625 so cheap? With discount?

625 display less sharp compared to 720. Eye pain see edi. 720 ok la big enough. 620 is small, 520 similarly small too.

Trapezohedron,

may i ask how long did you have to wait to get your phone after sending for service and repair?
*
still in repair. The first time was quick since they only "reinstalled the software" (read: restore factory settings). I was not satisfied as the camera is still faulty. E-mailed them sample pictures to prove. Resubmit work order. So far it has been about 3-4 working days. Probably no stock for the Carl Zeiss lens =.=

I really want the front camera properly checked and replaced if possible, since it has the flickering and purple hue, but I was told by them that "it is normal, even Lumia 920 has it". Hmm. If set faulty, i don't mind them replacing a brand new set.

I also sent a charger to repair/replace from Lumia 520. That was quick, about 1-2 days.

ya lo, i also ask, "nape tak replace terus je?"

"kita procedure ialah bagi technician check dulu, kalau boleh repair kita akan repair."

Anyway there was no ready stock even if want to replace. need to order.

I am still using N8.

What I dislike are N8's handling of email. Some emails could be in the outbox for days sitting there and going nowhere. To see some incoming emails, it would show "retrieving" for 5 minutes just to retrive some simple text. In one word, unreliable. I have done delete email/re-create email, soft boot, hard boot, factory reset etc

What I like is a widget of email showing a couple of new emails with header.

So how does 720 email handling compares?

Thanks
*
Emails sync perfectly in 720 for me. Using outlook account. I just pin emails to start page, when got any mails come in, just a tap and you can view your emails with headers. Fast and sleek.

Nokia Care Centre is taking too long to replace my camera lens... Almost 2 weeks+ already. Called them up and they say no stock, kena order.

Wondering if it is possible to ask them to replace a whole new set? After all it's barely one month old... ish.

Hey guys, I sent my phone to fix the blurry edge of camera pictures, where they claimed to have changed the lens (from Honda (??)) and motherboard. Unfortunately it looks the same and the edges is blur, in fact looks even more glaring now.

For reference, refer to my earlier post:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=62932957

The technician claimed that all Lumia 720 is like that. I hope you fellow LYN members can prove otherwise - do check your camera roll, view in HD photo viewer or in PC and look at the edges. Thanks!! thumbup.gif
