i jz face they no one to serve me... and looking me like a screwball...like is it this GUY crazy?? why buy NOKIA?
*
Lumia 920 won many awards already, but the fandroids knows nothing one... Many people curious after see i buy Lumia 920, an dthe first thing 90% of them ask "what is screen size ah?". That means 4.5, 4.7 and 4.8 probably is of not much difference, because those 4.7, 4.8 inch screen ones are simply because the phone is longer; S3's width in dimensions are the same as 920... Or to be more exact, only 0.1mm difference. For me i remember the screen size of almost every flagship phones. Those who knows it still tell me "but cannot get cracked apps..." instead of "no instagram".

Just saw Samsung S IV....so underwhelming. Just specs bump and design wise looks the same

I just hope Lumia successors won't fall into the same trap
*
Bad news for u - I expect the next Lumia, maybe named Lumia 930 or 950 PureView to have similar design again - and yes, bezels trimmed, but im sure Nokia will come up with more innovations; heard they are working on putting solar cells into the screen and putting hydrophobic nano coating for waterproof. S4's design is another repeat just like iPhone repeating itself (but i still complain because design is lousy), but the main issue isnt the design, but many of the new features are all gimmicks that are not really practical.

bt spec bump to dual quad  shocking.gif
better thn my PC spec...mine core 2 duo only... can i buy it and install in my pc?? drool.gif  tongue.gif
and better thn i7!! mega_shok.gif
*
It's only a quad core processor, but has 8 cores - 4 + 4, different architecture; 4 low powered cores and 4 high powered ones. They phone will switch around what cores to use depending on what task - light or heavy, and only up to 4 cores will run. You want to root it with custom rom and make it run all 8 cores also can, as long u dont mind a 2 hour battery life and the phone potentially turning to a microwave oven. I suspect it doesnt have LTE? Because US version use Snapdragon 600 just for the sake of the LTE chip on board.

Our core i5 and i7 processors have more extra cores but they are not used most of the time as well.

QUOTE(ian2000 @ Mar 15 2013, 01:28 PM)
I have been using Lumia 920 for 4 days now. When I first enquired about this phone at my favourite phone shop, the owner tried his best to discourage me from getting it and was pushing the Z10, Experia Z and Note 2 to me instead. But I have done my research via the thread here and was adamant in securing my Yellow 920 one way or the other. I have been an iphone user for the last 4 years. My last one was 4s. I didn't bother to upgrade to 5.

I was so excited on finally laying my hands on the phone (after waiting for it in the shop for almost 3 hours as I wanted a yellow one). Honestly, I have not been this excited over a new phone for as long as I can remember. I simply loved it. The live tiles are amazing. The screen, responsiveness and the simplicity (despite being a totally new OS to me) were outstanding. Only wish that there are more accessories for this.
*
Typical shop assistants, i feel like slapping them sometimes... sweat.gif They treat us consumers like idiots when some of us really do our research and if i prefer this model, that is my problem. Or is Samsung paying u if u sell their phones more? Im actually surprised they recommend Blackberry Z10 over Lumia 920. If im not a businessman i see no reasons to get BB Z10 which is inferior to L920 in hardware (sorry, if anyone here is a BB fan). Not to mention BB OS lacks even more apps than windows phone.

All it took for me to learn about 90% of windows phone 8 is to watch engadget's video on WP8 review last time before i buy L920. sweat.gif In contrast, some newer version of android have features that i either dont realise or dunno how to use; Android a lot more complex...

plus....even the speed limit follow speed limit signboard on highways....example if zone is 110km/h>>90km/h....the gps would follow exactly change the speed limit reminder on the spot...  thumbup.gif so no speed tarp if u follow the warning on phone exactly....
*
I turn off speed reminders, since im a speed demon lol; 110kmh is too slow for me. Driving slow is like wasting time to me. My phone did still warn me when i went too high though, 170k...

You meant the Portico firmware cause the flickering ? Have you asked Nokia Center ?
*
I have heard this before, but not in all devices, which is weird; some cases are due to portico update, not hardware issue

LOOOL i didnt even notice the sensor holes difference; i only noticed the bottom bezel, or the screen and the center button's distance is lesser.

Oh, wait, i think Apple will also sue Samsung for spelling the 4S backwards,

nice. i really, really hope the next update will upgrade the custom tone/notification settings;

1- adjust individually volume controls of ringtones, notification tones, alarms, etc.

2- custom tones for alarms, sms, etc.
*
Only SMS and mail cannot custom; im using custom sound for alarm - my own songs. Same rule apply as ringtone - 30secs length at 1MB max - the tracks in the ringtone folder will appear alongside those already included when u want to change tone for alarm.

download that software by google...
before ur update pls full charge ur phone...

1.downaload Nokia Software Updater for Retail 2.0.6
2. install it. if u got before version pls uninstall 1st.
3.open it...plug ur phone.
4.that software will detect ur phone and say what version is latest. click update.
5.depand on ur internet speed. that firmware will 1.3GB and that is 1232.5957.1308.0008(malaysia phone)
6.finish download n that will start install around 2-5min i think.(dont touch ur phone.. switch off ur phone..or unplug ur phone.. any notification on windows pls ignore it...)
7. after install that phone will reboot. wait it 1 or 2 min.
8. a setup page like new phone will display in ur phone.
9.congratulations ur phone is UPDATED  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

ps:my pc is win8 64bit. i dun knw other OS will how...
*
"and that will wipe all ur data...so need to backup ur data before update..."

That is the problem cry.gif My free Sonic CD will be GONE cry.gif
And, my apps are all purchased over different regions, some i get from US store, some from Malaysia one (That maybank app, MyDistress, and a few more only for us Malaysians). Getting all the apps back is another hassle - every time i change region i have to restart the phone.

I guess i would rather wait for OTA update; later have to waste time redownload Mirror's Edge, Asphalt 7, etc... big files. Dont even know if my game progress will be gone.

Looks fake

10 years ago can believe today I go everywhere I close to never see anyone use wp8 phones near 8 out of 10 are samsung
*
Lumias are widely used in Europe and Russia, that's what my friend studying there said. The L920, not so much yet. 5 out of 10 budget and midrange phones are Lumia there - because of carriers. Most people who sig up a plan to get a free phone there, usually Lumias are being offered. In Malaysia i still have people asking me "Huh? Lumia runs Windows ah?" doh.gif Imagine how much i can make them go "WTF?" by telling them it runs Windows 8 (without the word 'phone' brows.gif ). These ppl with no knowledge thinks it is as powerful as the desktop version, only lesser apps.

5 out of 10 budget phone...  rclxub.gif  I found it hard to believe. So far budget lumia phones are 610 & 620 only? 710 also maybe...
I don't think Lumia is that famous anyway.
*
It is, in Russia especially. 610, 710, 800 (cheap by now) and now 620 is common.

QUOTE(zero_kbom @ Mar 18 2013, 09:41 AM)
I'm currently studying in Dublin, Ireland and I can see that Lumia starting to gain traction around here. But its not the newer ones. Mostly its the old Lumia 800, which can be found here for only 130 Euro from carriers.

Not to mention, carrier is big here, the notion of sim free phones are unusual, unlike Malaysia.
*
In UK and USA most people are tied to carriers; in USA, unlocking a carrier-locked phone can be illegal. No way, i prefer paying higher for a phone than paying only 200 bucks with no freedom for 2 years.

super easy flashing. cucuk, run update and just wait until it reboot to welcome screen.
everything is back; contacts, sms, apps and games also it will re-download, but not saved game progress. if got the 'download pending' error, it means you need to change region to go to the market where you downloaded your apps.
agreed. 920 without battery can easily go more than a day.
*
It is super easy to me IF my apps wont be gone; damn headache is apps gone, i have to go m'sia, USA and s'pore regions to get back my apps one by one; some games file size damn big, and my free Sonic CD will be gone.
