QUOTE(thesun @ Mar 13 2013, 12:44 AM) bought the nillkin sp, For me, it's the first time im putting SP by myself on a phone for my 920, and guess what, might have been an amateur's luck... I used Nilkin's one, didnt cut, despite the slight oversize it stuck nicely on my phone, after more than 2 months the sides havent showed any signs of peeling off yet...kinda fail miserably installing it lol.. i already cut at the curved part of the phone.. still fail.. lol.. i guess, kena beli otterbox Last time when i buy N8 already have SP on the screen, wondering why they dun include it... QUOTE(ian2000 @ Mar 13 2013, 11:40 AM) I did but the phone did not detect any video files after the copy paste to the video folder. Wondering if there's something else missing. Im not sure if it plays MKV or MP4, havent tried yet, but AVI sure can. |

QUOTE(arbelnox @ Mar 13 2013, 02:36 PM) yes, I'm aware that daylight shooting is just sub-par pre portico updates.. but I didn't expect it to be such blur to be honest... I wish future updates after portico will solve the problem... this is probably the only short hand of the phone right now... Try buying the app ProShot if you dont mind; the blur is gone really. |

I got it from Celcom.... just check for updates in the phone but still no luck I use bluetooth a lot nowadays, the 920's BT is awesome... havent try the bluetooth... but i heard it can send files already... but not sure limit to what file that is And ya, i lazy pull in pull our cable, i transfer music and photo by bluetooth also. As long not digitally copyrighted, can transfer. So far for music, mp3 and m4a works. |

QUOTE(thesun @ Mar 13 2013, 05:35 PM) no, i mean even if using touch screen or button, it still come out blurry. That might be a possible theory...i think the camera mechanism itself is stupid.. i assume, when we take a picture, 1. we snap the picture 2. focus (lens is moving) 3. light enters the sensor 4. after finish then only lens should retract to default position but for this phone, i think 1. we snap the picture 2. focus (lens is moving) 3. light enters the sensor 4. the lens already retract to default position BEFORE actual process of image capture done/finish thats why always blurry i think nokia wants to show how fast the phone is ready for the next picture.. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Mar 13 2013, 08:41 PM) this is something you guys havent master. There is a way to master the focus . How some impressive shot if you wait for continous auto focus you might not get the similar end result. I mastered the technique already for macro and medium-distance shots I am writing an e-book on mobile photography. You guys can buy it when its out and master those hidden secret. Actually there no secret its just the method you do it My cousin mistook of of the macro shots i took with this phone for one that came from a digital camera. |

QUOTE(ainuddin @ Mar 13 2013, 09:35 PM) I usually take photos of my figures~ This shot below (first photo is from cam directly, 2nd photo is after some photoshop for better composition/colors and brighten up a bit since i used low ISO), at a sports complex in my campus using the stock camera, not proshot. I suppress the noise by using only ISO 100. No flash, no zooming. Exposure & Color balance auto. And, i didnt use tripod, used my hands only, tap on screen to focus. The figure's full height is around 21cm.One thing i noticed that, if i wanted to focus on the face, i musnt tap on the face, i had to tap on the forehead (bit higher) or tap the chin/neck area ( a bit lower) for maximum sharpness on the face. In short, dont focus on the face directly, go up or down a bit (the focal length changes by millimeters since the figure's face is not a flat surface). Must have been something to do with the focal length adjustment by the camera (the camera's software algorithm seems to have the tendency of avoiding over-sharpening images which is odd, by not fully focusing on the spot you prefer, by readjusting the focal length difference by a few mm). I suspect it is trying to suppress or minimize noise. This concept worked on my other trials shooting photos of other objects, it's kinda stupid to me really. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by EXkurogane: Mar 13 2013, 09:56 PM |

QUOTE(GKWong @ Mar 13 2013, 10:42 PM) The nice thing of macros on the L920, because aperture is only f/2.0 you can get a nice blur off the background, sometimes even a bit of bokeh from lights that are far away. Most phone cams are f/2.0 anyway nowadays. This post has been edited by EXkurogane: Mar 13 2013, 10:57 PM |

QUOTE(thesun @ Mar 13 2013, 11:53 PM) its not about skills, its about hardware we are talking here. the camera lens is still moving during the picture taking process... (when actual photons of light hit the sensor, the lens already retracted to its default position) Thats why blur.. so, ebook or no ebook oso no use, picture still blur, not sharp unless using camera app with manual focus, i think will be different story. for me, to achieve bokeh, just put the subject away from background.. QUOTE(thesun @ Mar 14 2013, 12:06 AM) where is the blog link? That may be one reason, but that problem can be avoided if you know how to handle the camera. It's all about how you execute it.so, i am correct, the problem lies in the moving lens as picture being captured This post has been edited by EXkurogane: Mar 14 2013, 12:17 AM |

QUOTE(thesun @ Mar 14 2013, 02:21 AM) The guys at wpcentral demoed portico update improved the sharpness a lot, but some ppl still say a bit blur, that case must be their own handling of the camera... before the update, i do think there is an issue on the software aspect of the camera. |

Personally, for the next best thing for cameras, i suggest Nokia 'steal' back HTC's idea. To limit the thickness of camera, instead of 41MP, put in three 25 MP stacked sensors (HTC's One has three 4MP stacked sensors.), then combine with OIS. If the sensor is 25MP, and they maintain the size of the pixels in microns, that means the sensor dont have to be too big, maybe 1/1.6, instead of 1/1.2 on 808PV. Honestly speaking, im not fond of the idea by HTC to have larger size of pixels to capture more light - for that, let a large sensor or OIS or both do the job. Since they had to keep their phones slim they kept the sensor size at 1/3. Yes, if pixels are small u get more noise, and that's what oversampling will solve it to some extent.
And now let's look at the 41MP on 808PV - 5MP photos will have around 7-8 times oversampling; 8MP around 4-5 times oversampling. If use three 25 MP stacked sensors, that means a 8MP shot will have 3X oversampling from the stacked sensors, and another 3X oversampling digitally due to the large sensor. That makes a 8MP shot having 6X oversampling, instead of just 4-5 times in the 808 PureView. If they want to limit the amount of lossless zoom, then limit the digital zoom maximum to 3X only, and even zoomed in image have another 3X oversampling from the stacked sensors. Best of both worlds. For 5 MP shots, 5X oversampling the stacked sensor and another 5X digitally gives you 10X of oversampling, or a 5X lossless digital zoom with another 5X of oversampling involved. Zoomed in images have both details and also less noise. No idea if im doing my maths right, but i think you guys get my idea. Low light performance, just slip in OIS along - provided they can apply it to a larger lens and sensor, no need Xenon flash since it is too bulky. If all i mentioned theoretically is possible, we might see an even more godly camera phone compared to 808 due to more oversampling despite lesser megapixel count. For me i would personally prefer oversampling technology over OIS, but having both is awesome. Noise is difficult to get rid off (risk of losing details in photos) if excessive photoshopping, oversampling can get rid of noise and preserve detail. The phone may still be thick, but if used with aluminium material i believe it can be a lot slimmer than 808 PureView since Xenon flash is not used. But seriously, even if my theory above works, a really powerful graphics unit and processor is needed, something like Snapdragon 600 or 800. QUOTE(thesun @ Mar 14 2013, 03:28 AM) HTC one uses three sensor? i thought using one 4mp sensor, but bigger individual pixel? It's three 4MP sensors stacked on each other, so there is 3X oversampling if not mistaken. Their image still have a lot of noise when dark though. So, u still get 4MP photos, not 12 MP since they are stacked on each other. If single 4MP sensor only photos will lack detail, not to mention aperture is only f/2.0btw. Lumia 928 will have led and xenon flash Imagine using both large sensor + high MP count and stacked sensors together, you can do a lot more oversampling. U can still shoot 24MP photos with 3X oversampling and no zooming. stacking three 25 MP sensors will feel like having 75MP lol, but it;s still 24-25MP photos max. Heck, that will be expensive, but i dont mind paying for such innovation. I also wish Nokia brings back the multi aperture on the N86. Imagine all the tech they came up with so far combined. QUOTE(static @ Mar 14 2013, 03:03 PM) There is an app called "Transfer My Data" in the app store (*EDIT: eh, in the phone i think) for contacts and messages transfer. It uses bluetooth. For music and photos, i think there is also an app for that but you need to be connected to the computer (who wants to transfer gigs of files by bluetooth). For music sync your stuff in iPhone with itunes and then sync itunes with 920 - but this one i forgot how ady since i dont use iOS. This post has been edited by EXkurogane: Mar 14 2013, 03:58 PM |
