Can i create 2 library in iTUnes, one for normal MP3 and another for ALAC files? how? (i'm using Mac)

need to do it one by one? i mean, when you want to sync it to ipod, you have to tick the songs based on album/artist/genre.. hmm

If you like, you can also edit your album names to indicate which are ALAC. For example: "The Dark Side Of The Moon (ALAC)". It's an easy fix.

EDIT: joshuachew's answer is correct - I thought you meant how to identify which album is ALAC when you're scrolling through your playlist when using your iPod.

eventho it is correct, but it is not possible to right click every file to check. sweat.gif

see, when you plug in you iPod, and open iTunes, and from iTunes, when you want to sync music, you will select from the lists based on categories: artist, album, genre etc.. and you will tick which one you want to sync into the iPod.. but from the list, how can differentiate which one is ALAC file?

i figured out a method just now, put all the ALAC files into one playlist, then sync the playlist into iPod.. but for now, its ok because i have little ALAC files collection only, and by putting all the ALAC files into 1 playlist, the size did not exceed my ipod capacity (8gb). but by times, if i have more ALAC files, i may want to select between them to fit into my iPod..

ermmm i guess have to rename all ALAC file by putting (ALAC) in the names? sweat.gif

another thing i wonder, how do i pick a specific song from iTunes to put into my iPod? laugh.gif

there are 4 categories only: playlist, artist, genre & album, and cannot select individual songs.

because i may not want some of songs within an album/ artist.

i know this is very noob question.. before this don't really care, just pick artist and sync.

lol bro.. i like the 6th nano because its small and convenience.. i don't have too much songs, even a 32gb ipod touch should suffice.. but i prefer nano.

i'm thinking to buy Hisound Nova N3 instead. maybe easier just copy and paste. biggrin.gif

In iTunes, you can always sort out your entire library by file type, no? Or sort by bit rate. Or multiple select all your ALAC files, right-click "Get Info" and enter ALAC into the Comments box and sort them that way in the main window. There are dozens of solutions to the problem, some logical and others more complicated.

Not sure how you do your file sync but I do mine manually ie. drag-drop selected albums or tracks manually.

You don't have to make an ALAC remark in each file track name / album name unless you want to differentiate between an MP3 copy and an ALAC copy (why do you want to have a song in MP3 and ALAC at the same time?!)

You CAN select individual songs, just drag and drop.

You might want to quick browse iTunes for Dummies or something similar. I'm not dissing you bro, but seriously that will be a lot more helpful. Too much to cover here.

You can do manual copy, just drag and drop the file.

I remember there is an option: manage my songs manually or something like that or uncheck the auto sync my ipod options, can't remember because my workstation do not have iTune here in my office.

Or, just ask google and it will show you how to do it.

dude, seriously, if you did not say this, i never know. blink.gif

last time i remember i did drag and drop on old iTunes.. but on the new iTunes, if i select to view my iPod/iphone, so the view is only on everything regarding the device, and i cant see the itunes library. when i'm done with the device, i need to select "DONE" then only i'm back to the itunes library view.. thats why i dunno how can i drag and drop if i can have 1 view at a time.

but when u said it just now, i tried to click i title and drag it, then my ipod suddenly appeared from the right panel of the iTunes! doh.gif then i go figure out the "view" setting, just realize i can enable "show sidebar" and there my ipod in the list so i can drag and drop..

hahaha.. oo my gosh i'm very drowning in Apple ecosystem i don't even bother to explore things like we always did on Windows in the good ol day..

I thought iTunes can show bit rate in the column.
