Hi guys, hope you guys would share with one another on How do we check immediately on the car which we would like to buy if the car had accident record or not?

They told me that by taking the chasis number of the car and check in online.

Does anyone know the specific website that could help?

Do share it here. I hope this would bring a great help for those who are buying recondition cars out there.

Thank you. smile.gif smile.gif

1) Hold a fist and lightly Knock min 3x on every part of the car body - every mudguards, doors, bumpers. If got tampal cement, it sounds padat rock solid, totally different from other parts that sounds either hollow or like metal or PU (plastic), more bouncy. Don't forget to check rear doors opening and the wheel arches next to rear seats.

2) Open up the rubber seal around the doors, if you find different colour inside, sure accident b4.

3) Open bonnet, check the horizontal metal frame and the mounting for front headlamps, the mounting for the bumpers and water radiator. Open rear boot, check mounting for lights and open up the carpet, check for any paint overlapped, if yes, they re-spray the car b4 and usually people wont respray like that for no reason.

4) Try to check inside floor, lift up the carpet to see any patch job. Check A, B and C pillars, knock with fist lightly and hear whether all the pillars sound the same.

If anything senget or sounds different when you knock different from the other side, that means something wrong. Example, body of car would sound thud thud thud, cheaper car thong thong thong. bumper made of PU sounds buk buk buk. Cement area will sound less bouncy and hard like rock, sounds like you knock on concrete slab.

one more thing. can also ask someone to drive the car. If its not inline with the front, means that there is something fishy. Summore if u can look under carriage front part. Can see got any dents. Back doors try to slam it slightly on every side. If 1 got some funny sound, sure ever kena hit. But sometime, previous owner would likely change the parts *if its easy to find at kedai potong* chasis cannot be changed. So its better to check chassis also. Above rubber seal at the front door see if ever kena potong or not the roof. Side of the car front and back *this is very potential to get damaged if knocked and when u knock it, because its the side angle, it will sound so padat so its hard to determine. For me, i feel it. Putty dented areas always has that small gap. Use any sensitive part of skin on ur hand to touch it. For engine, if u can test drive the car, try to rev it when u test drive. After a while when the engine heats up, if there is white smoke comming out from the exhaust, the engine needs to replace seals, gaskets. Ive had 2 times experiance purchasing 2nd hand cars with problems.

You can send the car to Puspakom for inspection. They will give you a report on the car condition. When you transfer the car to your name, you need to submit the Puspakom report to JPJ.

Mostly puspakom will check the chasis number, side slip, brakes, car window transparency. I ever send my car to puspakom before purchase, they dont check the rest. I drove the car all the way to puspakom. I thought it will fail cuz of the loud exhaust, no horn. In d end. Only 4 or 5 test. the rest they just close one eye. Not using runner.

Once I watch on tv, they showed how Puspakom inspect a vehicle and found it was a kereta potong.
They showed where the joining parts are and explained how they do the joinings.
Maybe that was just for show on tv. hmm.gif

I've seen cases where stolen car that the chassis number was removed and replace by some new chassis number. The car got an OK from Puspakom. The buyer then proceed to apply for bank loan to buy the car. Loan approved - car sold. Then, after the new owner has used the car for 2 years and always pay the monthly instalment to the Bank, suddenly Policemen came and seized the car & said that the car was a stolen car. After the checked, the car was truly a stolen car n the policemen managed to locate the original owner & returned the car back to the original owner.

Now, the new owner was left without a car, and has to pay his monthly instalment to the bank. Bank has sued him and this case now is still be litigated. So if u r buying car from private person that u r not familiar with, it is best for u to check the chassis number properly.

Used car dealer will label the car as "accident free" unless the owner has claimed insurance to repair the damages.

If he pay by cash to repair...even major ones, when sell, its also labelled "accident free" as there is no records of it kena accident

You must be experienced enough to check if the car has been flooded before.
1. check under carpet for mud stain
2. check inside the headlamp to see if got mud stain
3. check car seat for mud stain

FYI, those cars that were flooded before, will be sent to professional cleaner to clean the car so that people cannot spot them. But due to human error, they may missed some area that they cannot clean.
You need to get someone who know where to look or check for those areas.

Wanna check cars...Rule of the thumb:

Do it on a sunny day...and NEVER at night...even the best Kung Fu phailed at night.

Used car dealer labelled all their cars accident free. Already owned by 2 different owners, first being a company and second an individual, the used car salesman can openly say first owner. They don't fix anything, just touch up and clean all evidence with mileage meter reset. They are just scammers.

Best way to check accident free, find out the current owner insurance company, call the insurance company to check for any claim and what NCB.
