it should've been higher than shariah. Now im thinking whether its possible they used the profits to prop up shariah. Maybe im just delusional.

I sincerely hope shariah doesn't become the defacto acc in the future.

Just a matter of time before that happens

If I remember correctly this >RM1M increasing threshold to RM1.3M is not applicable for those above 55 or acct 55/emas. So what the concern of not fitting the purpose for a 55 year old reaping? 🧐
*
This progressive threshold will only impact those younger EPF millionaires below age 55. Assuming none of bureaucrats get any new funny stupid ideas on how to teach us to manage our own money.

I have completely no idea what your analogy is saying.... haha. but sure, if others understand it, it is good.
*
I understand both u guys punya analogy and both makes sense.

In my opinion, those with >1M are well disciplined, matured and financially savvy enough to not require govt intervention in how to manage our EPF balances.

If they wanna impose tighter withdrawal limitations, do that only to those with low balances and who only think about short term needs.

Its actually not big deal..once u hit 1 million, reaching 1.3 million will be quite fast, if u are still working and self contributing.
*
Yeah, it snowballs pretty fast after 1M...and before you know it, you've breached the 2M barrier rclxms.gif

Don't expect anything higher than 6.30% for 2025 😔

Confirm lower thanks to the challenge faced by everyone...
*
They are managing our expectations now, post-dividend announcement...back to 5.xx range again, hopefully not 4.xx.

If one is in his early 50s or close to age 55, the new upcoming >1.1 Mio - 1.3 Mio thresholds are not really an issue.

The problem is not everyone in his early 50s (although eventually we might reach there) when the goal post shifted. Luckily my earlier batch of self contribution is to my parents account, thus I can withdraw them anytime, and only now to my own account recent years. It's not that I plan to withdraw that anytime soon, I just don't like the idea of shifting the goal post.
*
Well, you either gotta live with it or park the money elsewhere which has none or lesser restrictions.

One of the alternative to EPF is ASM funds...  Higher than CASA or FD. Easy access too...

Only problem is units availability.... Which is such painful to keep trying luck daily basis....
*
Kena wake up at 0200 to catch the available units😆

It was just a quick sample though, my own figure doesn’t look as good as this 🫣. This is based on default monthly spending of rm3000. So by the time one retire, the 6k is the amount equivalent to today’s value.

You can always customize the value here

Though it’s arguable if i should set higher than rm3000 as the default for the calculator, should I set it higher? The avg for Malaysia is 2000-4000, so I set it to rm3000 for now.
*
3K is for retired couple or just a single guy ?

Supposed to be single, there are many sources on google saying different figure so I just took the median value.

"EPF’s Belanjawanku guide proposes that a retired couple living in the Klang Valley should budget for RM3210 a month and for a single senior, Rm2520"
Will definitely appreciate if someone can share a more accurate value for a more close to reality, default monthly spending
*
In Klang Valley, I applied RM4250 for 2 pax per mth, with 50-50 makan outside and home cooked meals.
Groceries + toileteries approx 1K per mth. Petrol RM400 + parking + occasional tolls p/mth (assuming driving P1/P2). Meds 250 per mth, house utilities + internet RM350 p/mth.
