The median malaysian salary is RM2600 per month.

https://www.imoney.my/articles/monthly-median-dosm

Assuming statutory kwsp contributions of 11 and 12%, thats RM598 monthly.
*
Thanks for pointing out πŸ™
Malaysia salary is low. Indirectly EPF contribution also lower. Added with all the allowable withdrawal previously. Totally one EPF balance become low.

Wow that’s low. I lost touch with Malaysian job market. I remember 2.5k was what I got 20 years ago so I went to Singapore. But even with 598 monthly in EPF working 30 years with no increment can still hit 600k? Yeah I lazy calculate.
*
Malaysia salary don't increase with inflation & time. So whatever gotten years ago is almost same range. 600k later years become lower value. Not enough for survival

Not important for you.
But for me, it's when I make decisions to self contribute more or not.

QUOTE(CommodoreAmiga @ Jan 21 2024, 10:01 AM)
Usually end Feb, but last year ding dong ding dong with politikus cannot make decision drag to March.
*
Please don't until March.

Actually what decision you need to make. the rate will be between 5.5% to 6.5%. Unless you think you can better this. Also, not every year is high, next year also can drop. Got money just dump in as much as you are comfortable to lock those money in until 55. I have lots of FDs maturing next month. Will dump in regardless.
*
It's won't be lower than last year right?
That good positive news.

I'm okay with locking those money. Only issues is the amount. The rate is more, then I contribute more. If less, then I contribute less.

Also worry about account 3. Or whatever they called them. How my self contribute money would be split.

Nothing is certain but based on last three quarters results the coming dividend is expected to be more than last year

and maybe even close to 6 pct.
2. Good that you have your reservations of dumping in more or not depending on performance. However just take not that the

average dividend declared by EPF is 6 pct over the last 10 years.

3. No need to worry about account 3, the EPF board is well run to grow, protect and deliver your retirement funds.
*
1. good to know the dividend expected to be near 6%. Acceptable rate for me

2. my take is one does perform well. needed to "reward" them. So in EPF context. More self contribute

3. Still no clear details on account 3 EPF

the early you self contribute, the more dividend you get next year...
the upcoming dividend announcement is for 2023 balance and contributions
*
Agreed πŸ‘
Started early is good strategy....
But don't forget need to be steady. Don't withdraw even opportunity given. Then can achieve happy retirement

So far i have been using fpx in EPF-app, if 29Jan then it will be reflected  on 31Jan but deposit date 30Jan, irrespective of weekend/weekday. Only worry is bank/epf system screw up.
*
You want to take risk?
Better self contribute earlier

So the expecting rate ranges from 5.95% to 6.15%

Anything higher or lower than above stated is not good (if lower) / excellent performance (if higher)....

Lets give the guy some time to perform. These roles are not for long term, they can be replaced anytime. The incumbent was from a different industry and still he did okay.

EPF is one of the well best managed organization in Malaysia.

whoever at the helm needed to be efficient & smart enough to run the organization that worth almost 1 Trillion Ringgit...
